Awesome and thank you! I love your quote, "This land has given me everything, a life, friends, food, love and its taken my tears, sweat and blood. It remains the last frontier against a world fueled by materialism, technology and comfort." So true and so happy I found this place 10 years ago myself! I rode from La Ventana to San Diego a few years ago on a older DR650 and loved every minute! Hope to cross paths in Baja Soon! Chris
Great ride! I was going to say, no flat tire? But, there you go ... can't escape without at least one baja flat ... at least one. I want to go down in May, but can't decide if I want to drive the Van, the old Tacoma, the cruiser or maybe a KLR650. Looks like the KLR might be the most fun. I'll probably go by myself though, so not too many crazy roads - no crashing.
Great video footage, thanks for taking us along! Is this route part of the actual Baja 1000? The sound of that big XR clawing its' way through that terrain, that would stay with you for a very long time.
@@borderat I’m sure it’s going to be another good video. Maybe you can talk about your rest stops (gas, etc) . I’m planning a trip there and I’ve never been. Thanks
@@ericrobitaille6867 I know right. I always struggle with that helmet. Never again after this.. nice thing is you can see the constant avoidance of rocks.
2002 xr with 240 hours on it. looks like it has suspension valved for 200lbs rider by precision concepts. ran a 15/51 sprocket gearing that came on the bike. but mid ride changed it to 14/47. has a trailtech 8inch halogen light and a bunch of switches for turnsignals. radiator fan and two that I have yet to figure out ( possibly power to gps or tracking device). oh year. never run a k&N filter offroad. it clogged and I almost got stuck in the desert. who know was kind of damage all that silt did to my engine...
@@xtcrider8270 yea I bought the bike like that and had purchased an extra filter but realized I was missing the filter screen once i was down there…All good now!
XR650’s have won the Baja 1000 many times, the bike is a legend among desert racers and enthusiasts alike. I’ve had two of them, great machines.

It was a sad day when Honda abandoned the XR 650R. A dual sport version with an E start would have sold like hot cakes.
There is a trick to get it started first kick.
nice to see the bike doing what it was built to do.
thanks for taking us along
Glad you enjoyed it
Very , very, very good race with XR 650 R. The biggest !

Carful on the klr they need tready tires. I had d606 and they where very good. Also just be careful with the sand, she sinks like the titanic.
Very nice Ride with the BRP ;-) I have one too. Greetz from Germany

@@borderat But not so good Desert, we have to go to Tunisia or Morocco ;-)

nice ride.. .so cool, this was affter a race or before ???
Eres una verga carnal. I just picked one up. What carb and jetting are you running? Is the radiator fan a good addition to the bike?
Ocupas musses , oye y como se regresaron ?? Cuando regresan ? Yo me apunto
Compre la moto 4 días antes de irme y no había mousse. Solo le cambié la llanta delantera. Me lo vendió mi amigo de la prepa. Jalo al putazo

@@borderat K&Ns are the worst air filters out there. Absolute junk. Go with a uni filter if you can, they're cheaper and 10x better
