Maybe I'm the odd man out with this, but I always felt this song would go much better with a snowy day. Not a blizzard, but a light snowfall. The ground's covered with snow, you're walking through the woods, and this song is playing quietly as you walk and watch the snow fall from the trees and sky.
It's like an infinite Tunnel of sorrow and emptyness. And after every step you make, the sorrow and emptyness increaced. but you continue walking because you see an illusion of an End but you know it is an illusion and you hope, it is just a dream. But you can't wake up because you are already dead. And so you continue walking and feel how you slowly reach complete nothingness to create a new live. but you never reach the end and you slowely fade away.

It knows your every move, because this place is a manifestation of the worst parts of yourself, your worst fears and guilts, all fully realized. But this place isn't just foreign, it's also familiar. It brings a strange sense of wonder, longing, and pure nostalgia. Why? Well because these things you have seen in this town, symbolize who you are in some way, be it good or bad. A complete reflection of yourself, for you to ponder and think about. Whatever has troubled you, whatever you have done, this town can bring either solace and peace to your mind, or it can bring your demise. It's all up to you, whether you will face your demons head on and accept what you have done, or run away from it all and suppress every bad part of yourself. Sorry for how long this was

Have you ever spent long amounts of time in the woods? One of the most disturbing experiences I ever had was what you mentioned. Yet it wasn't foggy. The whole forest was dead silent, not a single rustle of leaves or a chirp. It stayed this way for several minutes. It was unsettling.

You put it in a small lamp fixture, pointing it upwards to the ceiling, and turn it on at this very night. You play this song on loop. You curl up in a warm blanket, on your couch, with your crappy laptop on your lap. It feels like you're underwater. Finally... everything feels right for once.
As for me this music makes me feel like I’m lying in the field under the clear night sky and looking at the sparkling stars. There is no anyone around me and I can hear only quiet wind blowing my face...
This video was my first ever exposure to the silent hill series, years back. My friend was using it for background music in Gmod when we would mess around there late into the night. I liked the music and I'd never heard something quite like it before, so I asked him to send it to me... And now silent hill has become one of the most important and impactful game series in my life, silly as that might sound. So this song, and even this specific video, are extra special to me now. Thanks for unintentionally introducing me to something that means so much to me now.
you know, during the Lockdown here in Italy, where we all were in quarantine, I have been through a lot. During that period, there was a girl, I knew that girl for years, we went in the same school. Once I fell in love with her, and she friendzoned me, but she didn't want to end our friendship, instead, from that moment, we became very close friends, and then, when I was finally accepting the fact that she didn't love me back, she told me about her feelings about me, and she fell in love. From that moment, I didn't really know what to do, I actually still cared for her, and I was still in love, but that wasn't the same thing. Then, when the quarantine started, she told me that her feelings were not real, and she didn't want to delude myself again. From that moment we began to talk about that situation, I wanted her to stay with me, and she was confused about what to think. This went on and on for months, and in June, we met, we talked, and nothing. Yeah, nothing happened, we just talked, and she said she didn't care about my feelings, or if I would've been sad. That was the last time I talked to her. And since then, I miss her more and more as time goes on. (obviously I'm not letting that feeling to distract me and influence me negatively, I know how to deal with it, and I'm calm now). So, all of this just to say that, during that period, I used to listen to Silent Hill's music a lot, and I still do, and it remembers me about that time, when I lost the one who I loved the most. The game doesn't stop you and force you to pick between choices A and B, then later doing the same with choices C and D, thus creating the AC, AD, BC, and BD endings. Your ending is determined by how your actions as James are interpreted, and its fucking brilliant game design.

There's been dense fog for the past couple days in the small city I live in. Walking through the back streets in the middle of the night with the fog and listening to this music is one of the most soothing experiences I've ever had.

I will never know what it feels like to play Silent Hill 2 for the first time again. The game is psychological and it has elements that would be so fresh and you wouldn't beleive it's a game from 20 years before

we need good HUMANZ they’re out there my man, found one myself. this kind of music can reach into the soul of anyone. she never played silent hill herself but she’s watched me play through sh2 and felt the melancholy vibe of the game and its music the whole way through. she said it was one of the saddest and most disturbing things she’s ever watched. i definitely second that lol

Those days will never return. It will never be 2001 again. I will never be 21 again. I will never know what freedom is again. I will never know what it feels like to play Silent Hill 2 for the first time again. But I can listen to the soundtrack whenever I want, lucky me I got the CD when it was relatively new and for a decent cost.
