Thanks for the tips, brand new to the Player, slowly figuring it out but did not understand how to program more than 2 effects to the foot switches, very helpful!
Hey Collin, thanks this works great! Although, in some of my rigs the LED stays dark on the right footswitch (I always set to the delay here and that is usually green). It still work to switch the effect on and off. So I assigned it to FX2, and then at least I can see the LED illuminating under the FX2 dial. 🤘
I just got one of these 4 days ago. Previously I had a rack mount full on with pedal and loved it (till divorce of course) I really don't wanna buy other people rig setups. I just want a better explanation of the workings and cannot find any so thank you for this piece of info. Some of the videos I watched on the site were corny and had no real hands on or nitty gritty of protocol at all. Even the sounds they were putting out was'nt anything I would use. I was getting ready to call them to return it and saw this. If anybody has any comments on the headrush prime, I was thinking about trying it next or possibly getting the larger Kemper floor unit.
Hey Collin, thanks for the videos. Please keep em' coming. If you could show more about the system settings with screen play of the editor, for example how to change the global midi channel. There a lot of info unclear or missing from the manual. I'm waiting for my KP. Cheers
Thanks for the video. The real great thing would be to have a double choice on one footswitch with effects on and off on the same profile if you push it. That would give 2 times more possibilities. I have begun to look at the Player and I don't think it's possible yet.
You could assign all effects to one switch using the method in the video, and it would behave like you described. All effects on or off at the same time with one switch.
I haven’t read the Kemper Player manual, but the assignable footswitches are almost the same with my Kemper Stage, since the Kemper player has no display the only way I see to remove fx in the fx block is by the rig manager app, click the fx block and there should be an option to choose -empty- the fx block, Kemper is kinda using the Eventide H9 approach which is very app dependent
In rig manager go to Rig Button (on the right side of System Button) -> scroll down to Function Assignment -> left click on given Effect Button I/II/III/IV -> left click on the property from given effect from your rig to include
I've read the manual a few more times... still don't see how to change that setting. It just mentions "renouncing" combo switching by default, LOL. It does explain it, but doesn't say how to do it. Nowhere to change that I can find or stumble upon. If you figured it out let me know!
The effect buttons have their own Control change Number. When pressed on the Midi Pedal I am pretty sure you can use this method for them as well. Anyone tried yet?
@CollinPeterson615 I thought I read in a post on Kemper forum from Burkhard (Kemper employee) that they were needing to do a software update (not the paid upgrade) before the combo switch function would be available?
If that specific part about the combo switches is true, that is terribly misleading in the manual. Paying for extra fx or profiling capability is one thing, but... the switches are supposed to work now! 🙄
@@CollinPeterson615It is true that feature is not implemented yet. Also in the manual but not implemented yet is the ability to take the unit off OMNI mode and set the Player to listen on a specific MIDI channel only. Also the manual says rig selection is PC 1-50 but it is actually numbered 0-49 on the unit. These are the things that I immediately ran into when trying to set up a MIDI controller. Thanks to you at least I now know how to get effect selection working on a third foot switch.
@@CollinPeterson615 I agree. I do have to say. the player sounds fantastic. Brought over my Kemper Rack profiles and now have Flyrig for rehearsals etc.
Can you set up patches like clean on ftswh 1 rhythm on ftswh 2 and lead for 3? For a live setting. They should had at least 4 footswitchs for that reason
@norbertptaschnik3156 the power supply is powered by the USB port on the kemper! It's a unique power supply, the port is meant to power your phone or tablet during a gig but it works for that Cioks!
I bought a Kemper player and would like my DAW to control it via USB/Midi. Is it possible? I can do it at the Kemper stage. I already use it like this. But I can't do it in the player. Can you help me?
This was the question I was looking for. You say that you can audition it, but can you drag it into Reaper with your interface. Do you have to get rid of a preset and then replace it with one of the 20,000 profiles. Thank you
not sure what you mean by the interface/reaper element... yes, saving anything you are auditioning will overwrite an existing preset (1 of the 50 slots in the player)
@CollinPeterson615 Let's say I am using my interface, and I am using Reaper to record some tracks. Can I just pull up a Splawn amp rig and use it without saving it.

The nitty gritty will come when Thomas Dill starts making the official Kemper Tutorials.
Holiday time now, we need to be patient.

Currently setting up with my Morningstar MC8. Perfect combo so far.
Can you make a video of the new dual foot switching that's just been implemented.

@@CollinPeterson615 yes but it would be cool to have a double function , for example : footswitch 1 => change profile - 1 again => add effects
yeah that's way too complicated for me... and the Kemper Player 😆

You can't assign combo switches unless you change the switches to change sound on release and not press, it's in the manual👍
Thanks, will look more into that!

@CollinPeterson615 did you ever figure out how to use the combo switches? I can’t figure it out either!
No I still don't think it's been released as an update, hasn't affected me though
@@CollinPeterson615 gotcha thanks! Would be nice of them to allude to the fact that it’s not yet enabled somehow or other!
I will absolutely try this tonight! this solves so many problems... is this compatible with additional midi switches?
Pretty sure but I don't use midi much. I got a 2 button HoTone and it works perfectly 👌

Great tip! Strangely for me, footswitch 3 never has any led active when I assign it to any effect button (1-4) ???
Not ready for primetime... I think the next software update might have assignments within rig manager for those

yes you can assign a patch to each footswitch easily
You can add the Kemper A/B footswitch pedal using the EX Input giving 5 in total.

Should be possible but I have no idea... I will likely not ever use the midi features specifically. Good luck!
Try MIDI over USB?
Thanks for this!
All we can do is help each other figure this all out!!!
Btw, can we audition Profiles from Rig Manager or to audition one do you have to remove one of the 50 and bring in the one we want to audition?
Audition all day until you specifically save it!

Same technic as with the Kemper rack 😊
