I think the somber tone of this video is spot on. You show the item, explain what it is, and and leave it up to the viewer to think about such things. Well done.
Because of the thoughts you put into this video, I have liked and subscribed to your channel. That's my issue with a lot of people into history today. It DID happen, by today's standards it is unacceptable behavior, but back in the days it happened, that WAS acceptable behavior. We need to learn from history to better ourselves, not rewrite it to make us feel better about our ancestors. Also, we need to look at things as they were then, not now. Today, it's unacceptable and should never happen again, but like I said, back in those days, a lot of times you were apart of things simply because of that was the way things were done. The people then knew of no other way to behave. I liked your take on this and I hope you continue to find more history in the coming years.
Darrell Hook Thanks Darrell. You are right on the money. In those days it was not controversial to be associated with the klan, in fact it was almost normal. After the release of the 1915 movie "Birth of a Nation" klan membership grew to over 5million members. The movie depicted the klan as heroes and doing gods work. Once word got out about some of the heinous acts that were done under the klans name did people realize that something was not right and membership dropped to around 30,000. I don't want to justify the past, I just want to remember it and that's what finds like this one does. Keep those old days alive in our memory, good or bad, for all of us to remember and to avoid repeating any mistakes. Thanks for stopping by and I appreciate your comment.
I DIG HISTORY . with that in mind...North Korean leadership will be surgically taken out. the government will collapse and these flat faces will migrate to china. there will be a conventional ground war for the crumbs benefiting s. korea. save your money and go home early.
Ashamed, you are pathetic. Completely unable to focus any attention on anything other than yourself. Sorry, you missed, When I grew up, you had to earn everything you got, we had winners and we had losers as it should be. I have fought in 2 wars for this country, how much of your own blood have you shed for this country? You need to live a year in a third world country. before you start saying how bad things are here, But you won't, because that takes fortitude and commitment and you are sadly lacking in those areas.
I am speechless. Great video. It is shocking to see that nearby where you live. When you discovered what it was I know you must have been shocked and saddened. We all feel that same way watching this! Thanks for making a eye opening and moving video.
I don’t know how you think but I thought it odd that it has the Yin / Yan sign where the 1866 date is too. Kind of warped way of thinking hey, but that is what the clan represents; warped.
You had my full attention and it's hard for one single person doing a vid about metal detecting and history to catch me at attention!!!!!! But, Quarter Hoarder you have my thumbs up and a sub. today. Not that u care but that you had me from the start to finish. Awesome Awesome wording, perfect presentation, and the history lesson. Hey thanks for sharing!
Nice of you to leave such a positive comment. For every 500 shotgun shells I dig I get lucky and land a solid piece of history like this and I love sharing it with other diggers and amateur history buffs. I'm glad you appreciated it and thank you for stopping by.
As remarkable and interesting as our hobby is , It also has its reality that history isn't always pleasant to discover. Like finding a lost set of keys that have the house keys, car keys and others that the owners may have looked for hours to find to no avail. Or the sad feeling we get when we dig up tags from a family pet buried lovingly and mournfully. And the remnants of better days that time has forgotten. And in this case memories of a bitter time that still has it's hold on society today. Each of us make new dicoveries each time we dig, be they good ,bad, or just a piece of discarded junk. How we interpret our finds and the thoughts of how they got where they were haunt us all in some.
You are right on the money with that. I've been thinking all week of the hands that this piece may have passed through and what those hands might have done. It is a bitter sweet find that I'm not sure just how to feel about it. Thanks for stopping by.
No disrespect intended at all, but, American minds are conditioned to focus on the worst and not the best. Our news channels focus on 'getting attention' for ratings so they show the worst. You might just do a real search of what the Klan was formed (about 4-5 million of them) to do and not what maybe 1% of them did. Reverse racism is prevalent today by 'conditioned' minds.
J Marrs , i agree that media has lost it's original intention thanks to competition mostly; however, i don't think this "conditioning" is just an American trait---parts of europe still hold court under the idea that you are guilty until proven innocent...completely opposite to American law....many countries hold that prior position. Auto racing is also a great indicator---most fans attend to see a crash...worldwide racing, this is what research shows....so, i believe it is more human nature to seemingly seek out chaos ....like how most history courses are filled with lots of war detail...but isn't as in depth about many inventors and groundbreakers---the human brain craves certain things...same way you can usually recall a dirty joke better than a childish one...just the human brain at work....not to much where the brain is geographically located.
Heather Lockard hey heather. I still can find you lol. you can look for me on UA-cam. carpet target archery. I'm about five down the list. you see " Three Crows Chase" leave me a message.
History holds no prejudice, metal detecting holds no regrets. Love your videos man. Digging up the truth one relic at a time like putting puzzle pieces together to expand ones knowledge of this world we are part of. I love it. And I love your channel ;)
That wasn't what I was expecting after the previous video. That is for sure a piece of history. It says a lot. Makes you wonder about the hearts of some men. Thanks for sharing.
It was one of those finds where I wasn't sure if I should even show it, but pushing history under the rug and forgetting about it, even horrible history like this represents, is no answer either. I wanted to show the piece some respect because whether I like it or not, it happened and we shouldn't just forget about it. Thanks for stopping by.
Just subscribed to your group and couldn't find a better post to learn a little something about you. I applaud your message as you clearly were touched by this find, not excited but interested and cautious about what and how you spoke about a find that could have represented a person or group who may have done horrible things to other people. I thought your comments and your demeanor were perfect, compassionate and very American...Thank you my friend.
Thanks. One of the best parts of this hobby and being able to relive history with each piece you find. Even if the finds are not so pleasant to think about.
Quarter, been detecting for just under a year but the history I have found in the dirt has been my favorite part of this hobby. Just about 3 months ago I was detecting a park here in Cali that was settled in 1850 by a cattle rancher, as a favor to the Govt he allowed the U.S. Calvary to train on portions of his land in the 1870's. I got a nice hit with a strange sound on the back end. After digging it in about 4" of soft soil I found a large rifle cartridge. On the butt it read GOV'T 40-70 if I remember correctly. Looked it up online and found out it was the cartridge used in 1873 by the United States Cavalry...Doesn't get much better than that. Both the location and the find and the research pretty much all came together beautifully as I researched the park before I found the cartridge. I kept looking at the indentation the firing pin made and think to myself, that happened 143 years ago or there about. Last person to hold that cartridge was a man from our military over a century ago...wow, I do dig this sport. Thanks for your videos.
Amazing history indeed. I not only never saw one dug before but I never even knew these existed before last weekend. They don't talk much about this kind of stuff in school and to be honest, I almost felt like the FBI was monitoring my computer when I was researching it. An awesome find but a bitter sweet one as well. Take care and happy hunting my friend.
I try to imagine the scenarios as well. Its like a story from the past being told in the present. I find it fascinating. And I'm thankful for this hobby and the truths it can tell. Great video!
It's one dark and sadly continuing part of our history as humans. I can just hope one day it will no longer exist any where. Interesting find! Historically significant.
Why is it that whenever one of these "treasure hunters" finds a coin they try to wipe off any sand or dirt with their thumb and in so doing scratch the surface of the coin and possibly ruin its value to a collector. I carry mayonnaise packets in my pocket to coat the coins with after rinsing the crud off with soap and water and nothing else. The mayo also stops any other oxidation from occurring.
Sorry about the snow!!! That really is one of those finds that you're like.. "WOW amazing!" And then it turns out to have darkness attached to it so you're not sure how to feel about it. It's history though.. can't change history, and you gotta love finding anything historic, no matter what. Congrats xoxo
Luckily the snow finally melted so it's nice to be back out again. This piece was definitely the kind of piece that I was super excited about finding, but at the same time it was a somber feeling. Amazing piece of history though and glad to have it. Thanks for stopping by and take care.
There was actually two different Klans. The first Klan was not a hate group, it was formed to protect southern citizens from the occupying northern armies during reconstruction. There was even a group of black klansmen in Tennessee. It wasn't until later that the Klan turned into the hate group we know of today. Your 1866 token doesn't represent hate. At least that's what I have read about the klan.
Daniel Gibson your right in a sense, most people think that the Klan was started as a hate group but the fact is that Nathan Bedford Forrest started it as gentleman's club but later it had some dubious members that changed it to what it is today. Forrest quit the club as it did turn ominous.
Real.Piece.Of.Work It's like a scab that won't heal because the liberal media keeps picking at it to keep it festering. no matter how small the sore is.
Great video.I dug one a couple of years ago. I almost didn't post it on the forum because of what it was. But I did because good or bad, it's still a piece of our history and the forum members agreed. Great find !!! Thanks for sharing
While I was researching it I came across several different tokens on the subject and I did see an example of another one that had DUTY on one side and a different back than mine does. I'm sure your token was just a bitter sweet as mine was. On one hand you want to share the historic nature of the find, but on the other hand it is terribly offensive. We can't change history but we don't want to forget it either, even the worse parts of it can be learned from.
Thanks, my Mom found one like this back when she went to work at the phone co. was in her locker. She could never find out anything about it. She thought it might be from them.
Awesome! Congrats on this Jason, it is truly a great find! I wonder how many people around the world can say they found one of those using a metal detector? But I think we know the answer to that, only one person, YOU Jason, awesome!!!! I do as you do, when thinking of, who lost the coin, when was it lost, did they try to find it or did they not realize they had lost it until later, only not knowing where they had lost it, etc etc. I enjoy watching your videos, they are great! Thanks for sharing. GL&HH, Arty :-)
Thanks Arty. It really was an amazing find for me, probably mt favorite find ever. The subject matter leaves a bad taste in my mouth but we can't change what happened in the past, only hope to learn from it. Thanks for stopping by buddy.
Very very well done video with excellent history and images Jason. I truly appreciated your commentary as well. Abhorrent that a group like that exists but as you said it is important for us not to forget the broader significance of the terrible actions that have taken place from such a mindset of beliefs that are repulsive to us.
It was a odd feeling for me John. I was excited about finding it, but at the same time I felt bad for feeling excited about it. One of the strange parts of our hobby I guess.
EARTH ANGEL😇 YOU'RE BACK!!!👍😀😁. So glad to see your great videos again!!!😯. AS for the token; just as the civil war was ending, another evil was beginning.😫☠️🤦🏼♀️
Regardless of various histories and interpretations voiced in the comments on the Klan, I'm glad you're speaking out against what it represents to those who have been hurt by it and those who are offended by it.
this video right here, is what every American born person should feel like, and it's what made me subscribe to this channel right now, thank you for everything you do man!
Don't be sad. History is not repeating this blight. That's just fake news. From my perspective a person would be more likely to see a shooting star on any given night than to meet an actual white supremacist in person. They have been shamed, and rightfully so, back into the closet for decades. Even flat-earthers outnumber them. It was an interesting video, I have to agree.
I checked out your channel after you commented on my video. That is the first token like that I have ever seen. A bad time in history that was. Thanks for sharing it with us. Liked and subbed. GL&HH
Thanks Zombie. I subbed you too buddy. I always enjoy watching what other diggers are pulling from the ground. This was a bitter sweet find for me with the history of the piece and all. Just goes to show that anything can be under the coil I guess. Take care man.
You and me both. I live up north (although not as far north as you) and I didn't even realize the klan reached up this far. I always assumed it was associated with more southern states. The more I researched it the more I discovered about my area and it is disturbing. Amazing yet terrible part of history that is rarely talked about.
Good video QH and very well handled, history is one thing from which we should learn. My mind wanders like that every time I find anything of value, thinking about who lost the item and what the consequences were. GL&HH.
I definitely agree with you. It is history, not a good part, but it happened. Just like the statues down south. It's history and looking at it, and remembering those terrible times, and know not to repeat them.
As History preservationists, we look upon that as A good find. those of us who study history, learn from it. you learn that it is what it was. Never apologize for history.
We recently watched a group find an old slave tag. Both incredible finds with a dark past in our countries history. We subbed your channel. Thanks for sharing.
Wow, that's also an amazingly controversial piece of history. Just never know what's gonna come out of the ground. I see you're a fellow digger. Subbing you as well and look forward to seeing what you're finding! Take care man
Man, very interesting find! I know there's a lot of bad history behind it, but the the thing about you digging it up, researching it, and sharing it I think is a good thing. Nothing like this should ever be forgotten. Very nice job on the research and nice job on the video! Great job man! And really, a great historical find!!
I totally agree Jerimy. At first I wasn't sure if I would even show it, but then sweeping the ugly parts of history under the rug is no way to learn from it. I never even knew something like this existed. Amazing what we find sometimes. Happy hunting buddy
Awesome video dude. When I find things I also imagine who last touched it. That's the hook for me cause I was the next person to touch it decades later. Peace and happy hunting.
loved this video..how you think up stories about lost coins..i feel most of us do that too..i always say..gee..what this coin has been thru...and that token was a first for me to see..great find...
Thank you. I never even heard of a token like this until I dug it up and researched what it was. Amazing the things hiding right under our feet! I appreciate you stopping by and take care.
Some parts of history are dark indeed but by remembering we hopefully won't repeat them. I see you're a digger too so I've subbed you as well and will be checking out your finds. I always enjoy seeing what other people are recovering, Best of luck out there and thanks for stopping by.
Thanks so much. It was not a pleasant topic to talk about but unfortunately we can't change the past. Makes this hobby all that more special to find objects like this.
Great job . Jason .. I hear you fully man and it was or is a horrible believe for certain people to be part of or have ... you really detected and pulled up coin that signifies a ugly part of our country , its hard to even comment about it .. It is an Amazing find .. Congrats
I debated on not even showing the find, but the atrocities of our past can't just be forgotten about and pushed under the rug. Hopefully by remembering they will never be repeated. Thanks for stopping by my friend
Well done and very interesting. I've never seen anything like that before, so I learned something from this posting. Thanks. History is always fascinating, regardless if the topic makes us feel good or bad. The History is why I took up this hobby. Keep up the great work.
Thanks buddy. I detect for the same reasons but this subject was all new to me. I was on the fence about talking about it but I figured we can't change the past, but we might be able to learn from it and change the future. Appreciate you stopping by.
Great video. I love it when people do their research and give such an accurate description of their find. Now if I find one of those tokens I will know what I have found. Thanks for the history lesson. GL&HH
great find, very scarce piece! History, it is what it is and we can't change anything that happened. Different times, different mind set. I have some controversial Indian wars relics lying around myself.
I credit you with explaining it the way you did. I don't fault you certainly for showing it to us, it is part of history, same as Minie balls and bayonets.
Thanks J.P. I thought some people might be upset by the piece and I certainly didn't want to offend anyone. Some parts of history can be ugly but that still doesn't mean we should forget about them. I appreciate you stopping by and take care.
It did happen and it is apart of our history. After watching this video and reading the comments I still wander why people are offended by monument that were erected is an time of our past that was raciest and cruel to people. Leave them up and use them as a teaching tool. Making them go away is not the answer. Does them mean you should never take out the token and show it. No, it's a teaching tool as well. Thanks for sharing the video and I hope you find many more of them...
A strange feeling for me to find piece that has the history it does, but at the same time I feel bad for even being excited about it. Thanks for stopping by buddy
Wow Jason, that was an amazing find and thanks for sharing the story behind it. I'm like you I font agree with them but the history about this token was fascinating. Thanks Jason for sharing.
Thanks buddy. It is one of those rare pieces that I just not sure how to feel about. The history is amazing but the hands it may have passed through is disturbing. Kind of a bitter sweet find for me. Take care man and thanks for stopping by
Not a whole lot but I always ask him when I'm going. He did go out with me a few weeks ago but we didn't find a whole lot. I coach his baseball and basketball team and he's also playing football this year so he's more of a sports kid then a history buff.
Like it or not it is part of history and history cannot be rewritten. I think you are upset for nothing to be honest. Nice find and I would proudly display it in my relics collection because it is part of HISTORY!
the darker side of history, but still part of our history. definitely a interesting find to have, maybe the owner of that didn't really like it and chucked it out in the woods to be forgotten.
It is possible the owner did toss it away. Makes me feel better of humankind that way. Either way, there were still thousands if not ten of thousands that probably held on to theirs in a false sense of pride. Shame some parts of history can be so dark but I still think it's better that we don't forget. Thanks for stopping by Steve and take care my friend
Thanks Charlie. I have never seen or even heard of one before I dug it. It's amazing the things just under our feet. Makes this hobby all the more interesting. Take care buddy
What's so Controversial. It's a part of our history not a good one but still a part of it. Keep it or give it to a history museum. To remind others not to repeat it.
I think that is a wonderful historical find (perhaps "wonderful" isn't the right adjective) but you know what I mean. :) A time in America we should never forget. I too like to try and imagine the "dropper" of old items I find. I found two old tavern tokens underneath a very old tree stump...I think that "dropper" may have passed out under the tree a couple of times! Subscribing to your channel! Keep digging!
Indeed it is significant. Not honorable but as you said. It happened. To try to cover it is to forget. To forget means to one day repeat. That we cannot do.
Wow I had a feeling I knew what it was when you were rubbing the dirt off. Nice dialog that you gave. When I watch a Brit dig up a Roman coin I picture who held it last & I also picture who held that medallion...sad period.
A bitter sweet find for sure but we can't change the past. Keeping even the ugly parts of history alive helps to ensure they will never get repeated. Thanks for stopping by and take care.
5:05-end, very well said. I agree with your point of view here. It’s crazy how something so...I don’t want to say beautiful, maybe detailed or interesting would be a better word, can have so much hate and hurt associated with it.
You did an awesome job explaining what you found and what it was ! It is a piece of history whether it was good or bad history is history a person as to look at the good as well as the bad . You cannot have good without bad and you cannot have bad without good . Thank you for sharing your story with me as I try to learn something new every day and boy did I learn something today thank you ! God bless and keep up the great videos and the history lessons !
Unfortunately its part of our history like it or not. There’s no canceling it, or ignoring it, this hobby is one where we may learn every culture’s history, like it or not. Learn from it so it may not be repeated.
Significant piece of history, but a significant blight on humanity. It was a sad and horrible time. Thank God this hasn’t become our legacy I pray I never see the burning cross again. .
I think the somber tone of this video is spot on. You show the item, explain what it is, and and leave it up to the viewer to think about such things. Well done.
I dug up a Confederate Saber a year ago and I don't give a damn what anybody thinks about it! All I know is: I FOUND A SWORD!!! OH YEAH!!!
Now that is an awesome find! What kind of condition was it in? I love swords.
man that is awesome!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I would love to find something that significant
Better to be in your hands then still in the dirt...awesome find!
Have a video or photos of it? I'm a historian, I collect such things. Message me and you may have a buyer.
I'd donate it to The Martin Luther King Center in Atlanta, or the Tuskegee Airmen Memorial.
History is full of torment, and reconciliation.

"those who don't know history are doomed to repeat it..." good find, but sadly relative to today's manufactured racism...
A bitter sweet piece of one of the darkest sides of our history. Thanks for stopping by

Englishmen where slaves for over 1000 years. They where raped, and fed to the lions, and forced to kill each other. Yet non whine about.
Completely untrue. English slaves were sent to Rome for the games for an incredibly brief period of time. You are a liar. I pity you.

The knowledge of history can help us to keep it from repeating. Facing the truths and evidence is important for growth and change. Well done Sir.
You got my sub, for finding a piece of history and not just seeing the evil in it but instead seeing the historical value.
I used to carry soft toothbrush with me. Stuck it in the band of my ball cap. Came in handy when I wanted to gently remove debris.

It makes me wonder if all groups have their own tokens. Will someone, one day find a token for the Illuminati? or the Skulls?
Now that's an amazing piece of history..very well presented! I've heard of them...never seen or heard of one being dug. Great recovery Jason!
Amazing history indeed. I not only never saw one dug before but I never even knew these existed before last weekend. An awesome find but a bitter sweet one as well. Take care and happy hunting my friend.
I try to imagine the scenarios as well. Its like a story from the past being told in the present. I find it fascinating. And I'm thankful for this hobby and the truths it can tell. Great video!
Thank you Mark. I feel the same way about each item that I research and learn about. It's what keeps me going out every time!
Just saw this episode and wanted to say thank you for this tidbit (as it is) of history.
Part of our history great find .
We cannot forget our past. No matter how bad it was.
It's one dark and sadly continuing part of our history as humans. I can just hope one day it will no longer exist any where. Interesting find! Historically significant.
Thank you Catherine and I hope so as well.
Amen brother.
God holds you in the palm of His benevolent hand.
Daniel Gibson
your right in a sense, most people think that the Klan was started as a hate group but the fact is that Nathan Bedford Forrest started it as gentleman's club but later it had some dubious members that changed it to what it is today. Forrest quit the club as it did turn ominous.
Real.Piece.Of.Work
It's like a scab that won't heal because the liberal media keeps picking at it to keep it festering. no matter how small the sore is.
Real.Piece.Of.Work
like showing the Rodney king beating again. stirring up the shit to make it stink more.
Real.Piece.Of.Work
Thats exactly how the false media wants it portrayed.
Run Forrest, run!
Good vid. It *is* history and should be appreciated for that, but I also appreciate your distaste for what it is.
Great video.I dug one a couple of years ago. I almost didn't post it on the forum because of what it was. But I did because good or bad, it's still a piece of our history and the forum members agreed.
Great find !!! Thanks for sharing
I just went and looked at mine. The front with "DUTY" is the same, but the back is different.
That's exactly how I looked it. we were the ones found them, not the ones who dropped them!
Thanks for stopping by buddy.
you are displaying history that many if not most people don't have a clue about. thanks quarter hoarder
That's actually a really cool find. The history behind it is significant and interesting.
such an interesting find. it's too bad that history seems to be repeating itself... good video. very informative 👍
A bitter sweet find for sure. Let's hope you're wrong about it repeating. Thanks for watching and take care buddy
Despite the negative background history of the token, it was still an amazing and historically relevant find! Great channel, glad I found it!
Well said!
History can sometimes be dark. Lat's pray for a bright future.
What KaosReigns said....still a piece of history dug up....Thanks for sharing!
Everything they stand for is reprehensible - however the historical value remains. Great find.
Thank you. The history on it is amazing but a bitter sweet find for sure. Appreciate you stopping by
as dark as it's history is, i still think it's pretty badass to find!
finds old coin grinds sand on it cringe
good point lol
I cant explain why but as soon as I saw the cross and honor I new what it was, I have never seen one before mind.
Excellent video and narrative. Thanks
wow that was something else something you would never even expect or think of finding
Maine Metal Detecting - Sisters History Detectorists
It was a great find. I love the way you presented it in the video. Excellent job buddy.
Thanks buddy. I don't have the history knowledge that you do, but I try to learn as much as I can. Kind of a bitter sweet find for me.
Take care man
Very good explanation man, and a very interesting and kinda dark find. It definitely is history!
Thanks for stopping by. Not everyday I find something like this so it was a really special find.
Quite the find I'm glad you did this find separately it does leave a weird vibe around it.
Thank you and I agree about the vibe. It was a bitter sweet find for sure.
What a great video! I subscribed to your channel and have enjoyed several of your videos. This one and the witch jar vids are outstanding!
Awesome video dude. When I find things I also imagine who last touched it. That's the hook for me cause I was the next person to touch it decades later. Peace and happy hunting.
Wow. Talk about a connection with the past. Spooky. Congrats on a great find.
Thank you. It really was a special find.
loved this video..how you think up stories about lost coins..i feel most of us do that too..i always say..gee..what this coin has been thru...and that token was a first for me to see..great find...
Thank you. I never even heard of a token like this until I dug it up and researched what it was. Amazing the things hiding right under our feet! I appreciate you stopping by and take care.
Appreciate the research you do on the items you find.
Thanks!
Grim find buddy we find stuff that's not always good history. Like your videos, subbed.
Some parts of history are dark indeed but by remembering we hopefully won't repeat them. I see you're a digger too so I've subbed you as well and will be checking out your finds. I always enjoy seeing what other people are recovering, Best of luck out there and thanks for stopping by.
Very nice research on a historically significant piece. Good job
GL&HH
Thanks buddy. I never knew these even existed before so it was a history lesson for me too. Thanks for stopping by and happy hunting
Wow man! Congrats that is an amazing find. Thanks for all the info to, it was fun learning about this!
Thanks buddy. You just never know what's beneath our feet. Hope you can get back out soon.
Quarter Hoarder me too!
great find, very scarce piece!
Wow, what a crazy find man. I wasn't expecting that token to be that, that's for sure. Thanks for sharing man, Take care, GL & HH, chris
Great find and great story to go with it. Thanks for sharing it.
That is a great piece of history. Great find brother.
Thanks. Still my favorite token I've ever dug, and I've dug hundreds!
Excellent, Interesting, thanks for sharing with us. Sad world that people have to be like that towards each other. GL & have fun. Rick
A strange feeling for me to find piece that has the history it does, but at the same time I feel bad for even being excited about it. Thanks for stopping by buddy
Good Find that is what Metal Detecting is all about.
I though I read Duty, on the flip side, and was thinking somebody was in some kind of an organization
Take care man and thanks for stopping by
Quarter Hoarder I agree with you 100%. By the way. does your son still go metal detecting with you?
Not a whole lot but I always ask him when I'm going. He did go out with me a few weeks ago but we didn't find a whole lot. I coach his baseball and basketball team and he's also playing football this year so he's more of a sports kid then a history buff.
No one could have said it better. Thank you.
Like it or not it is part of history and history cannot be rewritten. I think you are upset for nothing to be honest. Nice find and I would proudly display it in my relics collection because it is part of HISTORY!
hey... it is what it is.. I would have loved to have found it....and someone has to share it....much respect to the way you handled it
Thanks man.
It's a sad troubling part of history but it is just that history. It needs to be told
Controversial history for sure but history none the less. The good, the bad, and the ulgy it's still our history as a country. GL&HH!!
Well said buddy. Still a great piece but just a rough subject matter. Thanks for stopping by and happy hunting to you too,
the darker side of history, but still part of our history. definitely a interesting find to have, maybe the owner of that didn't really like it and chucked it out in the woods to be forgotten.
Controversial but still a very interesting find with all sorts of history behind it. History has it's good & bad. Happy hunting :)
I couldn't agree more. Probably my favorite find ever even thought I
don't agree with the subject matter. Happy hunting to you too buddy.
Very interesting find. I've never seen one of those. Thanks for researching it and sharing the story.
Man I really like you and your phylosophy keep DETECTING its FUN FUN FUN !!!!!!!
i m so happy you see the history of the piece before you see dollar signs super cool find i hope you find more interesting things good luck to you
I think that is a wonderful historical find (perhaps "wonderful" isn't the right adjective) but you know what I mean.
History is messy....nice find. I just did my first hunt. Found a birth year quarter (clad). Not to bad.
Wow I had a feeling I knew what it was when you were rubbing the dirt off. Nice dialog that you gave. When I watch a Brit dig up a Roman coin I picture who held it last & I also picture who held that medallion...sad period.
I'm right there with you. It's amazing to try to think of what it was like living in those time periods.
I was wondering where I dropped that at.
heavy... glad you shared with us!
Wow! that's a surprise I wouldn't know what to do with that.
Unfortunately its part of our history like it or not. There’s no canceling it, or ignoring it, this hobby is one where we may learn every culture’s history, like it or not.
Learn from it so it may not be repeated.
What an incredible find man - good for you
Significant piece of history, but a significant blight on humanity. It was a sad and horrible time. Thank God this hasn’t become our legacy I pray I never see the burning cross again. .
