Those games sucked for me. Not because I’ve anything against them but because everyone knew I was ace so it was like 40% of the time they tried to awkwardly dance around it for me and 40% of the time they tried to make it ESPECIALLY smutty to try to, I don’t honestly know, break me? And even in games that weren’t inherently sexual (like truth or dare or paranoia) it’s hard for teenagers to come up with any other kinds of answers.

I’ve been reading fanfic since I was 14 in 2005, haven’t stopped yet. One thing I’ve learned is people you never expect to read fanfic also read it. And while there are fandom wars, fanfiction authors and readers often have their own little sub community and tend to be really nice. Don’t feel like you have to hide it, don’t feel ashamed of your interests.

A/B/O and “Soulmate AU” fics both give me a sense of existential confusion as to how such a different version of humanity could form a society nearly identical to our own.
Like, if they all evolved around the same time, why would the early humans have felt the need to cross-reference alpha/beta/omega with male/female? Why not just label them as six distinct sexes?

Sorry but: Hurt/comfort, mutual pining, unrequited love, childhood best friends (or friends) to lovers + soulmate au is my life
I am torn when it comes to childhood friends romance, that being in canon or fanon. Example of a good one: fish hooks, the developtment of the feeling between bea and oscar i found it adorable and with really good pacing.
And bad one (please no one kill me, i still haven't wrote a romance fanfiction, or any fanfiction in general): danny phantom.
Don't get me wrong, i love the show, and is not that i dislike danny X sam, I DISPISE IT, the third season Open with danny having romantic interest in sam while the second season ended with no kind of foreshadowing for that BULLSHIT. Any time i see a fanfiction crossover, i try to find those that don't have sam as danny girlfriend since, if you analyze her behavior in the series, she actually is a horrible romantic partner: judgemental, possesive, hypocritical, unapologetic, irresponsable. I mean, i know that she is 14-15 years old, bit her personality was so awful i can't see what danny sees in her.
IT doesn't help that he barely interacts with other girls except if the circunstances call for it, so instead of seeing a compelling love story, i see danny choosing San against his own will since she sabotaged one way or another his chances to interact with other girls, making seem that she won not because she deserve it, bit because she was the only option he knew.
I’m an absolute sucker for friends to lovers and hurt/comfort.

It could mean either accidental baby acquisition, pair having a baby together, single parent fic, pair getting changed onto babies ant people having to take care of them, pair meeting as babies or friends of pair getting changed into babies and while taking care of them realising they would be wonderful together.

My fanfics are focused on plot rather than relationships. Honestly to me, I ended throwing in a relationship as an afterthought because my stories are focused on a plot divergence in some way and the effects of that. Am I one of the only writer that writes 'what if' stories?

@@cxtcutsml706 a little recomendation of a fanfic to read "louds vs the forces of evil". The canon divergence can be seen subtle at the begining, bit become stronger with each chapter. (If you didn't notice, is a crossover fanfiction between star vs the forces of evil and the loud house)

I love slow burns, especially enemies to lovers. I hate ones where it’s like “why do I feel like this? I hate him” and then the next scene is then kissing. I like where they actually hate each other and only begin to like each other when one or both of them begin to change like they realize they’re on the wrong side of the major issue or whatever. Or when one on the “bad” side starts to fall for the good one and they realize how they are so caring and whatnot or they get in trouble and they suddenly feel the need to save them or they get saved by the good one and realize they don’t truly understand everything going on or the stakes and they begin to get confused with their loyalty.
It needs to be actual slow burn, not suddenly one thing happens and then boom their in love. I hate romance stories and movies for that reason because it’s so often rushed and I hate things centered around romance. I like things like Tangled where, even if it’s obvious they will get together, it’s not shoved in your face or focused on the whole time where they are always working towards the romance. I don’t like Romance category stories. I love action and drama and adventure stories that have romance burning in the background or preexisting or just realistic relationships.

I have been through unrequited love....platonically.
I like love triangles when they end in a poly relationship where they all like each other and they were just confused about their feelings because they didn’t realize that you can like more than one person and they therefore had mistaken it for hatred, jealousy, or something along those lines.
Once I read a soul mate au where you get the others injuries, so one of them carved words into their arm. It was very angsty. One of them was being abused, while the other was violently bullied.
Enemies to lovers is definitely s tier. Like the sexual tension and character development is 🥰

Honestly outside a few pairings I really don't like Enemies to lovers. I couldn't tell you why because I'm not entirely sure what it is that just irks me about them.

Alphas and Omegas are mated pairs, though you can find a Beta/Omega, Alpha/Beta pairing, but it's rare. Betas are peacemakers, Alphas are leaders and dominant, Omegas tend to be caretakers who mate Alphas and have pups. its a whole thing. I read a fic and it was a soulmate au where pain would be transferred between two people and it had the set up of this abuse victim and a rich teen are soulmates and it builds and builds until one day the rich one feels a great amount of pain then no more of her soulmates pain and we find out that they had died in a car crash. ( The rich one was fine because it was set to where you could feel their pain but not be marked or killed from it.) It was sad I cried when I found out the abuse victim had died.
