People are too sensitive. They did a great job, I thought, of making the mayor thing sound real. Still, it was a joke and taken too seriously. Great, classic radio here and amazing that you even have this....
Eerie to listen to them chat as if they're totally normal sane boring bros who even like one another, somewhat (or at least make a half-assed effort to fake it). Opie even titters politely at Ant's dreadful impressions, and Ant riffs on Opie's inane asides. I feel like my mind atrophied just listening to five minutes of this. How were they ever considered "cutting edge"? Also I've never heard of most of these songs they're cueing up (cuts like 'Unforgiven II' and 'Loser' notwithstanding) and tbh the bands and song titles sound made-up. I mean, 'Vanishing Cream'?
@@ssian5678 It was the late 90's after all... I remember those times and everything was awful. So yes this would be the cutting edge of FM radio aside from Stern at the time where anything on-air was censorable, MTV reality shows were popular edgy television, and any movie with violence or cursing was given an R rating.
Sorry to say, but they were very hacky back then. Five minutes in and nothing's funny, except that Viagra was something novel back then. And Ant pretending he was a sox fan. Still interesting to listen to, but they've come a long way.
When Opie had life and energy in him, happy to be doing radio, still had some edge (the prank was his idea), and you compare this to the last few years of O&A where he resentfully checked out while being slowly pushed out of his own show. That's a man who became slowly broken and bitter although I don't really blame him.
It's amazing to think that would be given a pass in any era of time or history. For someone who hates black people as much as Ant, he's sporting the most black guy hair a white guy could possibly sport.
Oh yeah, I know. I wanted to trash it, but I didn't want Yarsh to think the upload was unappreciated. Still a good piece of O&A history with mumbles Menino.
Back when I was in 8th grade. I Loved WAAF back in the day. I was very fortunate to have grown up with this station. Before they were anything and before they were cancelled they were Boston shock jocks in the late 90s and were loved by all in MA.
Back when Ant still looked like an HVAC installation and repair man

They were actually playing some good music
It's strange hearing them like this.

lol The mayor is dead and up next is Beck
Never heard opies voice like this. Ant is still recognizable.

That was all radio back then. Sorry Anthony didn’t drop the N bomb on live radio back in 1998.😂.
As a gradeschooler back then i can definitely say: Yes viagra was novel. It was the butt of many hilarious jokes because it makes boners..
Their conversation is the same calibre as when MTV would drag strung-out guest-host rockers to present Headbanger's Ball.
Same level of conversation, sure, only minus all the wild true-life road anecdotes and the cool & sexy rockstars.
Peak broadcasting
check out the empties maahn
+NeoSilvanus JAAAAAAAAHHH!!!

Opes entirely to blame for his actions. He wasn’t pushed out, he removed himself
The stunt that got them fired was saying Pearl Jam wasn't touring in Boston and that they broke up.
34 and 36.. Still older than me now, but still so young. They were kids!
+oAirehko Pretty sure they are in their late 20's,why?
+Kristopher Levine l8 20's, whai?
Ant's afro ponytail beneath baseball cap is fuckin enraging.

I find it to be symbolic of Anthony's character.
LOL, they sold that joke to the public magnificently.
34:00 that is probably the best acoustic version ive ever herd from them, unironically lol
