Lolol. I thought the EXACT same thing.
But an argument as compelling as his-“straight from the heart”-how could they NOT nullify?!?!? I mean-basically an hour of him attempting to make people feel bad for him.
“Nobody else’s heart is as broken as mine.”
      It’s like-dude. 😑😑😑
How TF he ever thought that that was the best play…? No clue.
He’s just an extremely arrogant narcissist who thinks he’s the smartest in the room.
He even told attorney Oprah , “I don’t think you’re that bright”

@@danieltaylor9459 We all know the reason he said that is because he was extremely pissed off at her. Her closing arguments as well as everything she did during the trial ate at him and he had go take a cheap shot. Exactly, an emotional appeal to nullify the law only works if the jury likes the defendant and believes he/she did the right thing morally, even thought hey broke the law. Brooks never gave them any reason to like him. All he did through out the trial was showcase that yes, he is in fact the kind of monster that would drive through a crowd of people and then make it all about himself.

I am disgusted by how he talks about his children, like he was a good father. He never paid child support, he beat his baby moms in front of those children, he didn’t have custody of any of his kids, refused to financially or emotionally support his children. He is a narcissistic, drug peddling, rap wannabe! He NEVER cared about those kids and it is proven by how long it took him to force out a few tears. We saw him in all his testimony try for a long time before he was finally able to produce a few tears. He is right where he should be and will hopefully only get out horizontally!
I think the most offensive thing he said was hat out of all the people in this tragedy, no one’s heart is more shattered than mine. That is absolutely disgusting. He doesn’t get to talk about his pain or how this event shattered his heart. It is offensive that he would try to make himself the victim in this. I would have convicted him on that statement alone.

I'm sure that that was not lost on poor man baby Brooks that they found him guilty on all 76 charges where they didn't even have enough time to read all 76 of them and deliberate them individually. I have! I think this is a very stereotypical representation of what a narcissistic person looks like. Especially one with many traits of a sociopath. Unfortunately, the person who I have experience with was my abuser, a parental figure from my childhood who committed sa and sat in court telling the jury that a 9 year old initiated, manipulated and seduced him, then took advantage of HIM in his "vulnerable state" due to his alcoholism. He legitimately thought he could convince the world that a 9 year old was sophisticated enough and somehow had something to gain by doing this. The documented physical abuse from teachers, doctors and social workers, including photographs of the entire side of the face swollen and severely discolored with the eye swollen closed as a fourth grader, somehow we're fabrications in this grand scheme to terrorize him. To this day, that man after serving his prison sentence, calls HIMSELF. A VICTIM.
I used to think it was just his own evilness. I have now learned they ALL think this way. They cannot understand what others feel. They cannot accept their wrongdoings. Nothing they do can ever compare to what's been done to them. Their justifications are all that anyone should ever merit. It's just a sad reflection of what people with these personalities do and the ways their mental illness is reflected.

It's amazing how he tried to play the victim. He claims his mother gets hate mail, his kids are bullied. He is spot on, all of those things are tragic. I hope at some point he is able to understand that he and HE ALONE is to blame for all of the people hurt. One person is at the center of all this pain. Darrell Brooks is the root cause and in 40 years he has never learned to accept responsibility for the pain he has caused those in his orbit.

I am infinitely grateful that this man chose to defend himself and turn this into a slam dunk of a case. A lawyer might have gotten him a plea or have some charges dropped, but he couldn't resist the power of being speaking on his own behalf and making a courtroom listen to him

Hopefully this public display of true narcissistic sociopathy will help to shed more light on Domestic Violence and victims will be believed and supported more readily rather than ignored, criticized and shamed.

The horrible part about this closing statement is that in his initial interview with the police he stated that his life was over and he knew that. Narcissist are no joke. Please be careful everyone. The audacity and sheer disrespect he has shown the families of these victims by not even apologizing or taking a moment of silence for them, however taking a moment for himself together himself is preposterous. The amount of contradiction and manipulation on his part is ridiculous. As he spends eternity behind bars his thoughts will never run clear.Prayers for the families whom lost loved ones.

As if addressing the jury in this manner, after showing complete disrespect for their and courts time, was going to garner him any sympathy.
