To John, your a great drummer, but you would have never been nothing more than an unknown dude without the doors and the doors would not have existed without your secret enemy. His name was Jim Morrison
Multiple books from John and Ray. Multiple poetry compilations from Jim. In the meantime Robby is chugging along with his first book, which is finally promised for the end of this year. Robby’s unassuming perspective (hopefully), is the one I am patiently looking forward to.
Love Densmore’s comments about Jim’s brilliance in writing LA WOMAN and John;s reading of a few verses from Jim’s “American Prayer.” Heartbreaking and joyous.
John Densmore"s Love of Jazz Miles/Coltrane etc got me into Jazz I had the Complete illustrated Doors book and read in the Bio that John was a jazz fan and that's how I got into Jazz now I've been collecting for 40+ years !! Thanks JD😎love ya man!
Thanks for all of the extra insights when making music with The Doors. I was a high school teenager when the doors hit the scene. I was a huge fan of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones at the time, but when The Doors released that 1st album The Doors was my new number one and I had my first car showing off peeling tires out of the school parking lot with The Doors blaring from an 8 track on my dashboard. Being one of the first kids in my class to have a car and The Doors Music made my car a chick magnet. What memories I still have in my mind's memories library it's all on a video I can conjure up from my memories, at any time. What a ride it was. Thanks Man!
I have a nice memory of having meeting John and having my copy of ‘riders on the storm’ John’s first book signed at the virgin megastore back in the early 90’s. He was a nice fella, I was starstruck at the time as I had fallen in love with The Doors and the myth of Jim. Would love to meet him again. Tony from London,
Well God sees and hears everything, so if certain music has caught the ears of millions of people, you can be sure it will have caught God's ear. I have always been a huge fan and John is a living legend.
Given that this year L.A. Woman turns fifty I hope Robby and John will release something wonderful for the fans, like 5 CDs + the vinyl album + a beautiful documentary on the creation of L.A. Woman in Blu-ray with a beautiful book with photos of the session and notes on the band.
Several movies and TV series have been made about Elvis Presley. Why not a new movie about the Doors, more of Jim's poetry, the inner mystical creative world of these artists, the Doors. Then the music will tell their story, produced in a High Art format. Worthwhile project, educational, historical, archival, the question, what is Art? What is Man ? Thanks John 🌎☮️❤️
I would agree with you their as well. There was a lot of movie's made about another California band The beachboys and so why have another movie about the Doors.
Salut Gentlemen, I much appreciate the writing tips! Such truths concerning the construct of sentences might be applied in many if not all phases of being. In order to be successful we must endeavor great proficiency, navigating the grey areas between words and even those episodes daily stumbled upon, where every encounter can become a struggle. We must be moved to embrace those expressive silences which segment and define each act; the moment before life commences it's vigorous flourish or merely as a break sought to give restive pause, for a deep breath amongst turmoil. But what of that grande silence meant to memorialize the most profound spaces, which denote finality and hammer there an abruptly powerful ending.... just another place to start afresh? Such a great, great interview.... Bravo! Encore! Cheers And Blessings!
The doors are very supportive to me personally I love these guys long line ray & jim I love each of these guys for the own reason I love this interview John is such an awesome drummer he has the coolest swag on the drum set watch him do it live and his energy leading the mystery back beat I had to watch every second of this love the rock hall and hope I can join it one day hope things go good for me to where I can share my new music with all of u guys
Since he mentioned the book “ Riders On the Storm” I have to tell John: When Jim almost went into the military you mentioned in the book he told you he got a “ Z” classification and never entered the military, obviously. Since Z is the end of the alphabet, I bet Jim said that because he was thinking of “ The End.” What do you think? Great interview.
John Densmore's middle name is Paul and he is in his later 70's and he will celebrate his birthday in December 2021 and he will never forgotten about the 60's
John's accents throughout their 6 albums is astonishing. He played for the sake of the tune with enough flourish to showcase himself in the process. He's a lost art or language. They don't perform like this anymore.
Jim Morrison would not have been impressed by the title of his book. It should have been titled Riders on The Storm, my life with The Doors, not y Life with "Jim Morrison" and The Doors. Jim never saw himself separate from the band. He would have seen this as exploitive.
Before anyone says anything to me ,I admire Jim morrision just like a lot of Doors fans. I into a store years ago, their was a T-shirt with the Doors written on it and only Jim morrision in front the T-shirt, which I always find disrespectful to Ray, Ribby and John. If people know what I mean.
You've gotta face it pal, even in the psychedelic '60s in a band with Manzarek and Morrison; a drummer is always the BS filter and heartbeat. Hardest working member of a band and the bedrock. Even if it's jazzy, Bossa and everything else. You're a great drummer amongst the pantheon of greats, and inspired plenty.... probably still. Cheers.
Oh wow man ..the doors, .zepp ..jazz blues...John found that in the Doors before later 70s drummers, im only 50! done stuff ..but huge influence of drumming and just the doors, ..feeling which when young found them amazing...in my 20s finding doors stuff, Jims songs and the music, it was 60s, wonderful period, I was young but looked at that period ..Im from UK...wish I was teenager in the sixties...done stuff ...But 60s ..was great... I also, as a drummer was influenced by gene crupa and Buddy Rich....dont think musician look back today.. they should ..30s 40s 50s 60s 70s ...had something ...blues ..Jazz....Today soul is distant in music, which is basis of music, soul.
So where does Robby fit in to your assemblage of fragments, man... never mind. I think you've got a blind spot there, pal. You might want to check it. Thanks for all the great drumming man, and some human perspective on JDM. Thanks a lot, John. From Australia.

There is no Doors without John Densmore. There is no Jim Ray or Robbie without John. There is no way this could happen without John. John is more important than Jim but no one would agree unless you know. Back in the day you could go to Canter's Deli and score acid.
True. I hedge a great respect for John Densmore as a percussionist, but I have heard many interviews with him in which I wish he would focus on the question.
@@MoparStephen Look into Dave McGowan interviews or his book. Almost all of the Laurel Canyon musicians had relatives tied in with military intelligence. Look into Tavistock Institute, the Frankfurt School, MKUltra, cultural Marxism etc...the 60s was basically a socially engineered event, as has been most of the 20th century starting with Edward Bernays social engineering experiments in the 1920s.
@@clovergrass9439 Thank you - this is not the first time I've heard this. I have a hard time thinking it's anything but another of the million and one conspiracy theory type books, but what can I say. I wasn't there at the time.
The entire point of this video seems to have been to endorse getting the experimental shot. It was the primary point. Damnit, they own John Densmore too- either literally, or through deceit.

You john should have just taken jim in a very physical manner and protected him from his demons. Now your an immortalized dude. That prospers off the one that completed the doors legacy. Ray was equally powerful and robbie.

The Doors, man, such an unique sound and so powerful. Probably the only rock band that can still make me want to do something crazy at any moment.
straight up
Same here

Morrisons father was at the Gulf of Tonkin the started the Vietnam war...
That has what to do with Jim Morrison or any of the works that The Doors produced?

How did the interview go on ! Those 2 broke the sound barrier
Unfortunately Morrison never really like John, & later neither did Manzarek or Krieger. Shame really.
Jim stole Pam from john.
Jim hated working with john.
John created so much stress it gave Ray cancer and it killed him.
John was the last band member Jim phoned while in Paris about two weeks before he died. He didn't call Ray and he didn't call Robby.
You john should have just taken jim in a very physical manner and protected him from his demons.
