I get it now why there are so many people who don't listen to Em. Because trying to deny his GOATness becomes impossible after hearing something like this, a throwaway track that Em recorded and never even thought of again. He has hundreds of songs like this.
In 2003 I was a senior in high school in a Detroit suburb and someone in the neighborhood got a bootleg version of his EP that had this, Can-I-Bitch, Doe Rae Me, We as Americans, Love You More, and like 6 other tracks on it. I can’t remember the name of the EP but within 2-3 days everyone in that school had a burned copy of that CD and that’s all you heard in the parking lot and coming out of people’s headphones in the hallways. The weight room used to blast this song after school. This was back during his Dj Green Lantern mixtape days when he was pissed off at everyone. He wasn’t as lyrical as he is now (obviously he was still great lyrically then), but this Eminem is still my personal favorite. Mostly just because I remember vividly when this leaked and we got it months before anyone else and how in awe we all were when we heard the songs. Six of us crammed into my friend’s little Ford Escort and smoked a joint and listened to it front to back and it blew our minds.
Edit: This was also the height of the Benzino and Ja Rule era. And when people were telling him he fell off after Eminem Show and 8 Mile. So he’s talking to everyone in those categories.

@@dhruvverma69420 yea it was created as that EP. The songs were originally meant for Encore. But, these songs got leaked so they had to remove it from the album. So, they went back into the album and recorded tracks like "rain man", "big weenie", "my 1st single" at the last minute. Just think, if those songs stayed on the album and those songs were never added? It would have change the perception of how the album is remembered.

I don't think it was. I've seen clips way way back where Jada said checkmate was really just at 50, for when 50 was claiming king of New York. And checkmate doesn't mention anyone besides 50 in it. But in that era, everyone went at everyone so it's definitely possible.
