You can’t go wrong with chili tots. One of my favorites.
Hey Sam, I ran into you a couple weeks ago while we were walking between Basta and Samburgers. The meeting caught me by surprise. I was visiting from Whitehorse, Yukon and honestly didn’t think that I would be seeing you. So as we walked toward each other, I slowly recognized you and stupidly said… “Sam The Cooking Guy!”. To which you casually said “Hey, how ya doing.” That was the extent of it as we both went on with our day. Geez, I totally regret not having something more intelligent to say, like how much I value your channel and that I watch all the videos and make a good amount of recipes. Anyhow, it was nice to briefly meet you. Cheers, keep up the great work.

Back in the 80's we had a local railroad yard that was rewarded for a good safety record by the company rolling in an old Pullman car/kitchen that gave out chili and cornbread for the employees and locals around it. No cost. This was in the B&O/Chessie System days, pre-CSX. Good times, somewhere I have a pic of that RR car.
Anyway, I made this chili recipe you posted (added beans and onions) and some corn bread. Really brought me back! Thanks! Love this channel!

Going to make these. They look so delicious.
It looks great to me. It is usually just the wife & I. We love beans in our chili. While I make the chili, the wife usually mixes up her Mexican cornbread. Cornbread with Rotel tomatoes, corn & cheese. The cornbread cooks while the chili finishes simmering. Sometimes we serve chili over baked potatoes or french fries. Our grandchildren don't care for tater tots. The individual pot pie looks like something the kids would love.

Made a similar tot recipe only with fish in place of burger. Used cod with Cajun seasoning. Experimented and it was delicious. Top with onions, bacon, cheese, & spicy tartar sauce.

Im definitely going to make this. I make my own chili on Sundays and this seems like a tasty way to add some variety.
PROTIP: Make the chili on Saturday, not only does it give you an excuse to watch some college games, but Day 2 chili is almost scientifically better 😉

For the beef mixture some things you could do to improve it a little (do all or none) is brown the beef off like you would the crust of a steak (adds a ton more flavor), caramelize some onions in the pan before you brown the beef (caramelized onions + beef is one of my favorite combos), toast your herbs/spices briefly before cooking off some tomato paste (give it some color and build a fond with these) and then deglaze with some wine which you reduce by half, then add the rest of the ingredients to simmer and cook down.
Amazing looking dishes from such simple prep. Sam is the people's cook.
Try seasoning the beef as it cooks, its what I always do, way better flavor! Keep up the awesome vids guys, really love em!
I'd have to add beans to mine. But that individual pie idea is great, I'm definitely doing that. Now to buy the individual pots.
