Is This True? Gullible Americans Leaving USA IN DROVES for the American Dream! - ua-cam.com/video/U0CmPt4Kejc/v-deo.html
As a retired military man, I was amazed at how different (not better or worse) it was living in another country with an official job to do instead of just visiting to explore. For me, having a specific purpose was just as important as the economics, security, unique sites, etc. For example, going to a country to assist with the building of a small hospital was way different than going to the same country to party on the beach everyday. Hope this makes sense. 😁
Yes, thanks for watching and sharing that perspective.
Dating and marrying the locals also aids greatly in learning a new language.
Yes, it does. Thanks for sharing.
I think the expat drive is based on the unrealistic dream that relocating to an area will be like a continuous vacation. Once you move to an area, even a supposed paradise like Tahiti, daily life takes over and you have to deal with the same stressors that you did in the US. Actually, the stressors will increase because the language and culture will be unfamiliar. In addition, you will have no support system.
Thanks for watching and sharing that and yes, that's a big part of it.
Great tips about speaking the language.
It would also be great to see the good, bad and ugly about moving back to the US. Let’s face it the tensions are high in America for so many reasons.
I also agree that people shouldn’t just listen to UA-camrs when moving abroad especially if their businesses rely on relocation services. They should try things out temporarily.
Glad you liked the video. thanks for watching.

Love your honesty …and how this very popular “sell everything and slow travel ( or move abroad) !!! is everywhere online selling this lifestyle. My first thought is since my husband and I are older and have traveled quite a bit before retiring.. is ok, so we sell our house and everything ( already did that in 2000-2005 to New Zealand had a wonderful time but came back since our older parents were aging and had issues), what happens when we get tired of being over seas/or less mobile and want a home base, where would that be ( With countries changing residency and visa requirements)?? I’d rather rent our house while we slow travel. Then we can come back to familiar territory and take a rest and still have our home as an assent to live in or rent as income. No site has mentioned this that I have seen. It’s usually all (sell all).
Exactly and that's why we say don't sell your home because people do come back home and the rents are out of this world in the USA. Your question depends on many aspects and is probably why it hasn't been addressed before. People go abroad with full intentions of staying for a long time but ideas change, circumstances change, people change and that's why we have to always have a Plan B just in case Plan A doesn't quite work out as long as we thought it would. It's called our exit strategy. Ours was to buy a cheap old house that's livable and slowly repair and fix it up and that's what we're doing but it can take a lot of time, money and patience...lol But thanks for asking the question; it will make a good video for sometime in the future, lot's of information and ideas to get out there for people to consider.
You ever notice the USA isn’t on any, or at the bottom of lists of countries to retire to. Probably the same reason people in retirement are leaving. It costs to much is one of them. Just had 2 mass shootings. From a foreigners prospective who don’t have guns as much as the USA, that sounds very scary. Even though people are coming and trying to enter the USA, it’s definitely not for retirement, but for an economic standpoint. After reading some of the comments of those from South America coming there, even the legal ones say it’s not that easy to get a leg up financially.
Partly because some of the people on our channel want to leave the USA! But many foreigners move to the USA.
@ fortunately the amount that’s leaving the USA is very small. I think the excitement makes it sound like it’s a lot, but it’s really not. The majority of them want to go, but they can’t. Might be for their own good.
