If she cut my dogs hair like that I would sue her. She has no idea how to groom a dog. Anyone can take clippers and shave it to the bone like a sheep. What happened to creativity using scissors and shaping the legs instead of shaving them down.
@@johngratby6300 Maybe the owner wanted it like that. I doubt she cuts every dog the same way. I like my dog on a 2 because she is very playfully and easily gets matted. Chill.
Blurry video. Jerking dog’s head around. Talking too fast. Arms always in the way. Pointing scissor tips pointing towards eyes. Couldn’t finish watching. Annoying the sniffing she was doing throughout.
This is exactly what I was looking for! I like my dog short and neat, and I've really gotten lost on how to get the correct shape for this cut. I have a cavachon, and most of the photos I've found show messy, overgrown coats. Thanks!
Also, Henri's head looks really wide. My instincts were correct in trying to take more off and blend, but then I got confused. Seeing what you did was very helpful.
What clippers do you use or suggest for grooming? we have two Morkies and I have been using my hair clippers whuch are not as good as dog clippers and the guards tend to not glide through so Im looking for switch blades. So before I buy a pair id like an input since I mainly do people and not dogs lol
hello, my question may be dumb, but what's the difference from using a guard.comb to save time rather than scissoring most of the face? btw awesome job!nice wish the qua5was better to dee detail😭
This is awesome my dog looks pretty much just like him. I have such a fear of messing up the face hair, but I have been on the right track. I wish I had those curved scissors. Where do you get them if you are not a dog groomer?
Hey Carrie, do you happen to know what the owner uses for this Maltese' face to avoid tear stains. I have a one year old Maltese with tear stains.. I bought couple of commercial products including Angel Eyes, but nothing worked. His face looks great!! I would really appreciated it if you could give me advice? (I never add comments on you tube videos, I hope I get some type of a message to inform me if you actually reply to this :))
gburklow1 Lucas doesn't get tear staining (lucky guy). Have you talked with you vet to determine the cause? The most common cause is environmental allergies followed by diet. Some dogs have short eyelashes that can grow in a way that can irritate the eye and cause watery eyes as well. Some people have success with Angel eyes but it doesn't change the root cause. Distilled water works for some as well. Keeping hair short and out of eyes and rubbing a little coconut oil on the fur beneath the tear ducts can help prevent staining and provides relief for minor irritation if present. Good luck I hope that helps!
gburklow1 some dogs naturally have watery eyes more than others. Their diet has nothing to do with it. If a person has chronic dry eye or eyes that water too much a diet wouldn't change a thing! What I have found that helps the most with my schnauzers is keeping the hair right under the eye extremely short. That way the stain sits on the skin more than the hair itself. It also adds the bonus of keeping hair out of their eyes. They still have their brows and beards but they don't get stained. Doing this has kept my 5 schnauzers (even whites ones) basically tear stain free for years.
I am in France but would so love someone like you close to me. I have a bichon bolonka which is similar to maltese and have a tear problem that is recent. Not sure how to have the hair cut under the eyes. I have so far asked my groomer to keep the hair long as if she cut it short it would stick up when it grew back. Would I be able to cut those little hairs myself at home in between grooms ?
How is it that they say the measurement but I don’t see the plastic thing they put on the razor?? Do you know what I mean? Like shens saying a number but the machine looks like it’s 0
You did an awesome job, and this dog is an amazing client. Thx so much. I will watch it several times as I'm planning to try something like this on my Maltese. U were way more gentle than some dog groomers I've seen. I need to buy thinning shears and a comb. Can u tell me where 2 purchase these? Thx so much. I subscribed🤗
Wow. You did such a fantastic job. You obviously know your stuff. I noticed the dog had no tear stains, do you know if the owners use anything or can you recommend anything?
Nice job! You need to do your sound better because I couldn't hear what you are saying, listen to your video and you will see what I mean .Really enjoyed your vid. dog looked very professionally done.
Something I do to help to do a face quicker is use a guard to take the hair off and give the shape of the face that matches his own shape for his length i would maybe use a 0g and run it down the cheeks under the chin and even skim or normally run over the muzzle too it makes the face so cute then i just scissor and thin/blend some spots I wish i could put a picture of a pup i did on here but it comes our a perfect teddy hair shorter length face! I hope that helps
it's funny you're making a video and they're worried about you talking to the dog and you're here to help other people and obviously you have to say what you're doing but I hear you praising the dog
watching most of these dog grooming videos has made me want to groom my own dog when I get one. Being a hairdresser I think I already have the skills, just need to apply them to dog grooming. Its important to praise the dog Kandi for doing well and reassure the dog your not trying to harm them. if your going to do a video on how to groom then you need to show all aspects of it, otherwise you look like you dont give a shit about the animal your grooming. She didnt praise the dog at all.
She did. I'm a dog behaviorist, and work with search and rescue. She is making a video too. So I mean, it's whatever. I was trying to explain, so if you're looking for an argument....egh, forget it. GOD I'M GLAD I WORK WITH ANIMALS! Good job on the video hon!
THANK YOU, you made my point! You do not have to worry about EVERY client dancing on your table, and worry about them being still.. JUST MOVE ALONG NEGATIVE TROLL! Spend time doing something else in life besides pestering GOOD work that you know nothing of!
no he doesnt look bored and u r jerking his head around a lot! i didnt hear one kind work spoken to him. as a hairdresser of 22yrs if i jerk my customers head around like that i would get smack at the least. i always ask a new client in my chair if they have a sensitive scalp or if they any concerns or questions before we get started. ive even gone to europe to do some master classes but thats not the point. if your going to do online instruction videos then maybe you need to also teach about respecting the animal. that its not just a ball of fur for u to cut on. its a living breathing animal and it has feelings, so talk to them while your grooming them. if their scare or angry let them know its ok. be considered and dont grab their neck as if you plan to strangle them or toss their head about like a rag dog. maybe thats your problem. you been doing it for so long u forgot about caring and forgot to tell others as well. watch the video through a laymans eyes and someone to adores animals and see how it look. maybe u will see where im coming from.
Teresa Palmer it seems pretty clear that you've never groomed a dog before. This pup is showing no signs of stress or discomfort and is not being hurt. The groomer also praises him multiple times throughout the video, so I'm not sure what horrible cruelty you are seeing. He is being a very good boy and the groom looks great!
Teresa Palmer you have no clue what you are talking about! She's as gentle as can be. She's not hurting him. The dog is just curious, looking at the cameraman. Can't compare the two professions, dogs are not people. You can tell the dog to look at you, but will he? You have to keep him looking at you, by holding him. Maybe if you were comparing it to giving haircuts to kids, then you would be closer to the truth.
poor little guy. he. looks scared. he looks into the camera with those sad eyes as if to say...get this crazy scissors slinging woman off me before she does me harm. at the least shes going to give me whip lash if she keeps jerking my neck around. shes treating me like im just a number. talk to me!😧 reassure me your not going to cut my ears off or poke my eyes out. plus his body hair is a bit to short! 😠 i dont like these grooming videos. the groomers are so inconsiderate to the dogs. you wouldnt do that to a human.
Teresa Palmer I'm sure he would rather be doing his own thing rather than sitting for a haircut but regular grooming is vital for his health and he is more bored than showing any distress. I assure you I love Lucas and he shows a great fondness for me by jumping on my lap and giving kisses when he's not on my table. As far as being a "crazy scissor slinging woman" I'm a National Certified Master Groomer with the Dog Groomers Association of America and have groomed professionally more than 15 years without ever harming a dogs neck as well as head an online forum for 'gentle groomers'. When I'm not working I rescue animals and donate my skills to helping homeless animals and people. Sorry if this video upsets you but your concern while appreciated because dogs are precious is unwarranted here.
Teresa seemingly you're just bragging around not having a clou 'bout grooming. This Dog is so calm and not scared at all. His looking at the camera most probably because thats unusual. Very Nice Video thank you very much Carrie
Barbara Beeler there is a uk groomer that i watch and she is lovely. constantly praising the dogs and talking to them. shes so kind to the dogs and makes a point of telling groomers how important it is to talk to the dogs and reassure them. she never wraps her hand around their neck like shes about to choke them. she also explains why she holds the dogs in each position. shes really good.
Teresa Palmer - Do You have a clue. This groomer is doing a great job. The dog is calm. He is sitting still. He is a DOG not a person. You have to let him know who is in charge. If you baby him he will be all over the place. I am not a groomer but I have a good sense of when when a groomer is doing a good job. I took my Maltese to Petco for nail clipping it took two of them to hold him down and they did a terrible job of trimming, I paid for his nails to remain the same length.. Terrible. I took him to a private groomer. She had no issues with him and she was able to cut his nails. Moral dogs have a good sense of who is in control and who is treating them well. In this video I believe this action is displayed. Good Video and tutorial
hey just because its a dog doesnt mean it doesnt has feelings. They have just as much heart and soul as humans do. They deserve respect and being talk to with kindness. I never see that in these grooming videos.
What a beautiful and patient little dog!
That dog is so cute and well behaved! Awesome job on the hair cut.
Yes he is a darling little dog and very good for his groom!
If she cut my dogs hair like that I would sue her. She has no idea how to groom a dog. Anyone can take clippers and shave it to the bone like a sheep. What happened to creativity using scissors and shaping the legs instead of shaving them down.

I really wish you made more videos. This is so helpful!
thanks for the tips, I also use blades for shorter heads and was looking for tips on how to improve on the blending :) awesome job!
This is SUPER helpful as I’m learning to groom and I NEED HELP WITH THE FACE 😌
Blurry video. Jerking dog’s head around. Talking too fast. Arms always in the way. Pointing scissor tips pointing towards eyes. Couldn’t finish watching. Annoying the sniffing she was doing throughout.

Such a sweet baby boy...you did a beautiful job, thanks so much.
Wish the dogs I groom would be still like him. It would make it easier to use your tips!
Lori Proffer he's a patient guy for sure!
Wish u lived in Colorado.
I would bring my Maltese to u.
Love this cut.
I have three Lhasa,s. and they all sit like this wee guy when i groom them. ..I'm so lucky !.😂
Also, Henri's head looks really wide. My instincts were correct in trying to take more off and blend, but then I got confused. Seeing what you did was very helpful.
What a good dog!
Do you have any other videos with Maltipoos? I didn't see anything when I subscribed.
Thank you! This video is awesome! Plus...you did a fabulous job!
The dog is so cute and relaxed while trimming
I love about him he’s looking at the camera like a celebrity 🤩
Beautiful job!
Great video!! Can you tell me what brand & lengh of shears you used? Thanks!!
Hi Carrie - great video. Thanks for posting. Can you provide the brand of the scissors and clippers you used? Thanks
Great Haircut! 👍❤️
Do u have anymore videos on grooming, really great job on teaching skills.
l Like it for dog it Looks Great and I Love It

Wendy Brodbeck look into the Andis 5 speed. It's small and should last you many years. I hope you found this video helpful!

Donna Davidson pet smart
She's good! now I think I'm ready to trim his face without being nervous
this took you only 12 minutes to do the face? ! impressed.
U did a great job !
What kind of shears are you using?
Gorgeous, beautiful, efficient

Angel Eyes are the best I have found. This dog has no tear stains at all, I to wonder what she uses. Louise
gburklow1 The dog probably eats high quality grain free dog food

gburklow1 baking soda and peroxide paste...let dry, and wipe with warm wet cloth. Just an idea.
Super job! Thanks for sharing!
That’s a good dog!!
you are best roaming

do you wash before and after cut?
Theodora Paz always before unless mats are severe. Clean hair is easier to cut
Great video. Thank you.
II wish my dogs would sit like that she makes it look so easy
He's such a good boy, my baby would've been hiding his face and trying to lay on his back for a belly rub!!
What are the scissors that you use? Thanks!
Belinda Paige Jimene
Was it a number 7 on the body and a 5 to taper head to the body?
Is this on a Maltese dog?
Hi Bill yes a 7f blade on body and 5 in the occiput area. I demonstrate the use of longer blades around his forehead at 1:30
What size blade???
It’s a Maltese with a teddy bear cut.
Is he a Maltese or a Maltese cross?
Wow, I wish my dog was that good! I put tape on the handles to deaden the sound, but she still freaks out enough to make it impossible..
Looks exactly like my dog
Thank you!
nice job
Lovely............
What # guard did you use on the body?
7f blade

About to groom myself and then my dog. He's vicious too. Great guard dog. Like, if you think you're getting him to drop his toy, you're mistaken.
Wow. You did such a fantastic job. You obviously know your stuff. I noticed the dog had no tear stains, do you know if the owners use anything or can you recommend anything?
The drinking water should only be bottled water. BIG help.
would love to see how you do his tail..
I love your work but I think god gave them eyelashes for a reason, I personally think keep the lashes....
Nice job! You need to do your sound better because I couldn't hear what you are saying, listen to your video and you will see what I mean .Really enjoyed your vid. dog looked very professionally done.
I would be giving that doggie kisses the whole time,..I wouldn't be able to get my job done
I'd behave too if someone had a tight grip on my beard!!
pappy&beers if you don’t have good control of the dog it’s easy to cut them she’s not grabbing them any different than other groomers
Oooh! this is exactly what I needed to see
Why would someone thumbs down this? You are making a job easier! Damn haters, Hehehehehehehehe.

You completely shaved that beautiful maltese! They usually have long pretty coats. that's too much!!
bclaudio3 we only do what owners ask us to do. That's like your friend getting a short haircut and you blaming the person who cut it.
