      If she cut my dogs hair like that I would sue her. She has no idea how to groom a dog. Anyone can take clippers and shave it to the bone like a sheep. What happened to creativity using scissors and shaping the legs instead of shaving them down.

      @@johngratby6300 Maybe the owner wanted it like that. I doubt she cuts every dog the same way. I like my dog on a 2 because she is very playfully and easily gets matted. Chill.

      Blurry video. Jerking dog’s head around. Talking too fast. Arms always in the way. Pointing scissor tips pointing towards eyes. Couldn’t finish watching. Annoying the sniffing she was doing throughout.

    This is exactly what I was looking for! I like my dog short and neat, and I've really gotten lost on how to get the correct shape for this cut. I have a cavachon, and most of the photos I've found show messy, overgrown coats. Thanks!

    What clippers do you use or suggest for grooming? we have two Morkies and I have been using my hair clippers whuch are not as good as dog clippers and the guards tend to not glide through so Im looking for switch blades. Hey Carrie, do you happen to know what the owner uses for this Maltese' face to avoid tear stains. I have a one year old Maltese with tear stains.. I bought couple of commercial products including Angel Eyes, but nothing worked. His face looks great!! I would really appreciated it if you could give me advice? (I never add comments on you tube videos, I hope I get some type of a message to inform me if you actually reply to this :))

      gburklow1 The dog probably eats high quality grain free dog food

    • @CarrieAnnPaulson
      @CarrieAnnPaulson 8 років тому +1

      gburklow1 Lucas doesn't get tear staining (lucky guy). Have you talked with you vet to determine the cause? The most common cause is environmental allergies followed by diet. Some dogs have short eyelashes that can grow in a way that can irritate the eye and cause watery eyes as well. Some people have success with Angel eyes but it doesn't change the root cause. Distilled water works for some as well. Keeping hair short and out of eyes and rubbing a little coconut oil on the fur beneath the tear ducts can help prevent staining and provides relief for minor irritation if present.
      Good luck I hope that helps!

    • @CHloE748
      @CHloE748 8 років тому

      gburklow1 some dogs naturally have watery eyes more than others. Their diet has nothing to do with it. If a person has chronic dry eye or eyes that water too much a diet wouldn't change a thing! What I have found that helps the most with my schnauzers is keeping the hair right under the eye extremely short. That way the stain sits on the skin more than the hair itself. It also adds the bonus of keeping hair out of their eyes. They still have their brows and beards but they don't get stained. Doing this has kept my 5 schnauzers (even whites ones) basically tear stain free for years.

    I have a bichon bolonka which is similar to maltese and have a tear problem that is recent. Not sure how to have the hair cut under the eyes. I have so far asked my groomer to keep the hair long as if she cut it short it would stick up when it grew back. Would I be able to cut those little hairs myself at home in between grooms ?

      Something I do to help to do a face quicker is use a guard to take the hair off and give the shape of the face that matches his own shape for his length i would maybe use a 0g and run it down the cheeks under the chin and even skim or normally run over the muzzle too it makes the face so cute then i just scissor and thin/blend some spots I wish i could put a picture of a pup i did on here but it comes our a perfect teddy hair shorter length face! I hope that helps

      watching most of these dog grooming videos has made me want to groom my own dog when I get one. Being a hairdresser I think I already have the skills, just need to apply them to dog grooming. Its important to praise the dog Kandi for doing well and reassure the dog your not trying to harm them. if your going to do a video on how to groom then you need to show all aspects of it, otherwise you look like you dont give a shit about the animal your grooming. She didnt praise the dog at all.

  • @sewforlife5728

    no he doesnt look bored and u r jerking his head around a lot! i didnt hear one kind work spoken to him. as a hairdresser of 22yrs if i jerk my customers head around like that i would get smack at the least. i always ask a new client in my chair if they have a sensitive scalp or if they any concerns or questions before we get started. ive even gone to europe to do some master classes but thats not the point. if your going to do online instruction videos then maybe you need to also teach about respecting the animal. that its not just a ball of fur for u to cut on. its a living breathing animal and it has feelings, so talk to them while your grooming them. if their scare or angry let them know its ok. be considered and dont grab their neck as if you plan to strangle them or toss their head about like a rag dog. maybe thats your problem. you been doing it for so long u forgot about caring and forgot to tell others as well. watch the video through a laymans eyes and someone to adores animals and see how it look. maybe u will see where im coming from.

      Teresa Palmer it seems pretty clear that you've never groomed a dog before. This pup is showing no signs of stress or discomfort and is not being hurt. The groomer also praises him multiple times throughout the video, so I'm not sure what horrible cruelty you are seeing. He is being a very good boy and the groom looks great!

      Teresa Palmer you have no clue what you are talking about! She's as gentle as can be. She's not hurting him. The dog is just curious, looking at the cameraman. Can't compare the two professions, dogs are not people. You can tell the dog to look at you, but will he? You have to keep him looking at you, by holding him. Maybe if you were comparing it to giving haircuts to kids, then you would be closer to the truth.

  • @sewforlife5728

    poor little guy. he. looks scared. he looks into the camera with those sad eyes as if to say...get this crazy scissors slinging woman off me before she does me harm. at the least shes going to give me whip lash if she keeps jerking my neck around. shes treating me like im just a number. talk to me!😧 reassure me your not going to cut my ears off or poke my eyes out. plus his body hair is a bit to short! 😠 i dont like these grooming videos. the groomers are so inconsiderate to the dogs. you wouldnt do that to a human.

    • @CarrieAnnPaulson
      @CarrieAnnPaulson 8 років тому +6

      Teresa Palmer I'm sure he would rather be doing his own thing rather than sitting for a haircut but regular grooming is vital for his health and he is more bored than showing any distress. I assure you I love Lucas and he shows a great fondness for me by jumping on my lap and giving kisses when he's not on my table. As far as being a "crazy scissor slinging woman" I'm a National Certified Master Groomer with the Dog Groomers Association of America and have groomed professionally more than 15 years without ever harming a dogs neck as well as head an online forum for 'gentle groomers'. When I'm not working I rescue animals and donate my skills to helping homeless animals and people. Sorry if this video upsets you but your concern while appreciated because dogs are precious is unwarranted here.

      Barbara Beeler there is a uk groomer that i watch and she is lovely. constantly praising the dogs and talking to them. shes so kind to the dogs and makes a point of telling groomers how important it is to talk to the dogs and reassure them. she never wraps her hand around their neck like shes about to choke them. she also explains why she holds the dogs in each position. shes really good.

    • @Englishamd
      @Englishamd 7 років тому +2

      Teresa Palmer - Do You have a clue. This groomer is doing a great job. The dog is calm. He is sitting still. He is a DOG not a person. You have to let him know who is in charge. If you baby him he will be all over the place. I am not a groomer but I have a good sense of when when a groomer is doing a good job. I took my Maltese to Petco for nail clipping it took two of them to hold him down and they did a terrible job of trimming, I paid for his nails to remain the same length.. Terrible. I took him to a private groomer. She had no issues with him and she was able to cut his nails. Moral dogs have a good sense of who is in control and who is treating them well. In this video I believe this action is displayed. Good Video and tutorial

      hey just because its a dog doesnt mean it doesnt has feelings. They have just as much heart and soul as humans do. They deserve respect and being talk to with kindness. I never see that in these grooming videos.
