When he said I'm always out here by myself with no one to help I felt that..
I did my swap by myself except for some help here and there from one or two people. It’s taken me 2 2-1/2 months to get it to where I’m at now. Just gotta finish wiring.
This is a LONG video and i will watch EVERY minute of it. Very informative so far and detailed AF. Great job as always!
This deserves waayyyyyyyyy more views man, you're direct, concise, and very informative without alot of crappy filler or stupid loud music.
Great video
I can officially say I did it. 98 hatch dx, kept the oem ecu and iacv, car runs, shifts, and idles perfectly. Thanks a lot🤘
that’s crazy man, good job 🎉 how long did it take you and how much experience did you have?
hey for the wiring with the old automatic shifter the two thicker wires do you just run them together then tape them off?
and did you do anything with the wires and plugs on the clutch pedal?
Alot of other UA-camrs would just do it the easy way not you you do it for the people like us cheers to you ✌️✌️
Phantom The Phantom I love my subscribers and I want them to enjoy my content even if I gotta go the long route to do it.
On a serious not everyone hating on Honda’s and there owners but they be actually working in there own shit swapping and building motors .alot of respect for this guy

OMG thanks for this video I really appreciate it there's not videos out there that go through the steps as thoroughly as you did thank you so much
Hey just dropping by to say thanks for the detailed video and links i was able to complete my swap today!!
Wow i just watched your whole video and u covered every lil detail man ... ive been looking at alot of videos but they did not show step by step like you did ... awesome video .. keep up the good work
Just began doing this very swap on my sons '00 Civic Hatch. Absolutely the best video I've found. Thank you.🙏👊
You are awesome dude! More power to you! I've been looking for a detailed video on how to do the manual swap. Thank you so much!
Thank you for making this video ! I’ll be doing this later on.
No problem! It was a lot of work to put together, It know its longer but i squeezed 8 hours of content into 37 mins
don’t know how many times i came back to look at this video to finish my swap thank you for the guide
I forgot to leave a comment thanking you!
I did it last year and this vid was INVALUABLE to guide me through it. Many hours spent scrubbing through this video trying to pick up tips and tricks on how to do it while I was in the middle of it.
Dont think I coulda done it without ya man so thank you so much, the car is a blast to drive now!
I was gonna pay someone to do it for me but after I watched you did it step by step man you made my whole year I’m gonna get everything I sent you get and do it thanks so much
I’ve been watching videos and working on Hondas for years …n this is most certainly the most descriptive auto to manual info ever for this chassis
Just want to say thanks buddy I appreciate you. I’ve successfully done my manual swap because my of this video !!! Kudos to you 🙏🏽‼️
I am getting ready to do a auto to manual. This was very very helpful
Man I been waiting for this to drop on the channel great work I bet the civic is funny to drive now I can't wait to see the finished product
Jonathan tube I miss having a manual civic I much prefer them. Also it’s coming along but I can’t wait till I’m finished as well!
@Texas Honda Channel dude this video is excellent. I’ve thought of doing an auto to stick swap on my EK but wouldn’t even know how to begin doing so. After watching this video I would def take the task on myself though I’m lazy and would rather pay someone else to do the work lol. Excellent video 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
Really appreciate the video man. Considering to buy an automatic civic to swap and heavily considering it now. Keep up the good work
Kevin Gajraj Thanks I try to provide clear instructions and some times I leave things out but I try to interact with people just Incase they have a question
New to project cars and this will be super valuable for when I have to do this
All I got to say IS THANKKKKK YOUUUUU MY GAWDD THANK YOU I BEEN SEARCHING FOR HONDA VIDEOS FOR 3 days to figure out how to fix my car u gave me everything and almost everything I can think of to fix my car now 🫶🏽 just subscribed new to yo channel love to see more content 💯
O I’m doin it this week don’t care how cold it is soo tired of letting the car do all the work thanks for the video
This video is a Year old and it’s still helping us out. I’m a Mustang Foxbody guy but need a good daily driver that’s good on gas so I bought a 98 Honda Civic with the D16y8 and a auto.
Was wanting to do a B series swap but seen a video on the turbo D16 and now leaning towards this with a 5spd.
I followed this video step by step and got it done! Thanks
I want to do this for my 2000 auto hatch but I’m scared I’m going to mess it up
@@jaywtdasedan bro same but some guy is selling everything i need for 200$ so ima have to man up and do it😭
@@jaredmartinez4440 remember yt makes everything look so easy stg just make sure you do it right and pay attention ‼️

You’re so helpful men makes my jobs so Easier

More Honda Civics video
Thanks for this video, I use it for reference for my 1998 Honda Civic project and helps me a lot. Thank you
Guy makes it look easy. Lol it took me like 4 hours to have my manual trans out and about 5 or 6 hours getting my new manual trans in with un doing everything and replacing it back into it
If only you didn't live all the way in Texas, I'd be more than happy to help out. I want to start making videos on my cars, but man filming the video, editing the video, and doing the work by yourself is no joke. You're inspiring! Keep up your endless efforts brother! Respect
Xenoflexor Pro Thanks I appreciate it. It is a lot more work than most people realize it is but some people do know the efforts I go through and you seem to be one of them. 🙏🏻
Im hella glad i came across this video. Imma see is can do the plug to remove stuck key Good video Boss!
Picked up a automatic 98ek a couple months ago (d16y7). In the process of getting my head around everything I'll need to do a manual swap on it, and then picking up all the pieces little by little. Atm most I've done is doing a deep clean on the interior and putting some new wheels on it so I can enjoy it in the meantime while I pick up the parts. Thinking I'll pick up a second D series engine to put in so I can clean it up and do all the seals and head gasket while its out to make sure it is all good.
You’re a blessing for making this video. Thank you soooo much dude
Thanks for the video, very informative.
I've only driven classic cars 1974 and under now I have gotten an addiction to late 90s hondas.....they're fun little go karts
Man start following today was looking at the auto to manual conversion here where I’m at on texas isn’t that much information thanks!
Super informative, 1 of the best 👌. Thank you for your time and patience
BRO!! THANK YOU FOR YOUR TIME and SHARING THE KNOWLEDGE!
God Bless You!!☝
Glad I found you vid, I will tackle this exact same project here soon. Thank you very much. SUBSCRIBED!
So informational and helpful for my swap thanks for this sick video 🔥🔥🔥
Bro love your channel! I’ll move to Texas just to see how you do things live
Super excite tomorrow i can finnaly do the swap all thanks to you man
I will be auto to manual swapping one of my next projects because its getting hard to find manual shells.
The auto cars are usually in better shape because they haven't been modded and beaten to death. I grabbed a 95 dx with 99,000 miles. Bone stock and literally old lady driven. Lol
Yes mine was auto and it was in mint shape. Did the swap and it was the best decision. Was tired of the auto tranny falling into false neutral alot!
You are a natural! Thank you very much for your time, knowledge and excellent instruction! Sincerely!
I think I can do it to my 97 automatic civic, I have a donor car for all the parts I need.thanks brother you really inspire me to do it.
Wow very clear explanations. Good work👍🏻
Just bought a 97 civic lx with a d series in it and I've already had to replace thermostat timing belt air filter and new head gasket, I wanna have fun with this car so I'm gonna manual swap it hoping that brings out a lil umph.
hey there, I watched this whole video. I'm appreciative for the tutorial on if i was to do this myself on my 2000 civic lx. Right now i'm completely broke, i bought the car from someone who didn't tell my it was having transmission issues. i havent yet changed the transmission fluid filter. it hesitates shifting 3rd to 4th and also on a side not the gear shifter is hard to shift progressively and sometimes it feels almost normal then goes back to being too hard moving from park to reverse. all the gears work and its a decent car but i dont want it to suddenly crap out it would be a waste. so theres almost 200k on it now. i think swapping it to manual would be far better instead of just getting another automatic transmission for it...
22:42 had me rolling lol just casually talking about the shifter and "ooooh a quarter" lol nice work man!
Im going to go ahead and give this a like. Good video, super helpful. thank you
Thats way easier than I thought it was gonna a be. Thank you for the video! Going to buy an auto civic tomorrow to put my drive train in tomorrow!
@@Tyschnei a heard of pigs ran out in front of me doing 75 and totaled the car 2 weeks after I was done...
@@aaronsprojects9622 sorry for your loss man, quick question though as i cant figure this out. Did you need to buy the manual trans mounts ? I have all the trans brackets but plan to use auto mounts.
@Tyschnei I feel like I had to swap the mounts, but I can remember much. A lot of beer was drank, and a lot has gone on in my life since then. I wish I had an answer, but I would bet that you need the manual mounts. There are definitely a lot of sources on this topic though. A little bit of googling and I bet you find the answer.
@@aaronsprojects9622 tried google but info is conflicting, thanks anyway man. Wish you the best
Very nice and well put video definitely one of my most like mechanics vid
Man, you're an absolute fucking legend. Thank you so much for this. I'll be watching this many times as I plan my swap.
Legend, thank you from Belfast Ireland
5:56 he mutes the sound to no blow our ear drums out , thanks for looking out
wow your video is literally the most detailed and most easiest one to follow instructions i definitely subbed and liked your video, also i have a 96 hatch dx is there anything different or specific i need to get for my model?
Great video bro going to make a couple videos of me swapping mine
Man. I know this video is a bit old but you saved me with the wiring bit around 25 minutes.
Bought someone else’s unfinished project. Originally a 97 ek coupe ex auto. When i purchased it has a b series manual, jdm h22a, and a couple ecu’s to choose from.
I got the car to turn on by jumping the starter manually, but couldnt figure out the ignition / clutch safety switches / etc.
You are awesome. Thank you! It fixed my ignition immediately!!!!!!
with the wiring on the actual clutch pedal do you have to do anything with those ?
The wires on my car on the clutch pedal were all cut and going nowhere. Hope that helps!
Just following his instructions made the car work like it should in my opinion
@@hellostirfry77 just to make sure, so you did not wire up the plugs on the clutch pedal you just left them going no where?
Much appreciated. Great informations and details 👍🏽
Damn son I used to live in Copperas Cove Texas, I'd recognize my hooning street anywhere 😎. Could've used your help with my 99' Ek coupe lmao. Badass civic build though, I appreciate the video.
Awesome video I’m happy I found it I’m about to swap a 97 coupe from auto to manual 😎
Gotta give you credit this is the best video I’ve seen when it comes to swapping in a 5spd in a Honda. You literally cover everything and it’s step by step.
I have a 98 Honda Civic that I plan on swapping in a manual. I would also like to swap in a engine maybe a B series of some kind. Currently I have a D16Y8. Not looking to make a race car I have a turbo Foxbody for that. I just want my Honda to be able to get out of its own way lol. It feels like driving a Go-cart. Don’t know a lot about Honda’s or imports in general. I’m going to see if you have a EK Honda swap video after this one is done.
Good video man very helpful 👍
Thanks Buddy - I like your work... have a project from auto to manual conversion
*Damn this was a good video. I watched to the end hopefully you get your monetization*
Great vid man thank you 🙏 good job on the swap
Im gona do one this year ... cant wait.
just got an auto 4 door ‘00 civic def gonna use this ‼️
This video is a really good reference just make sure when you go to delete the auto shifter guard under the car that you drill the welds and grind it off all around it otherwise you’ll be fighting to get it off
@@noahbell7297 yeah fr, other than switching pedals that was the most annoying part of the swap trying to cut that shit out
Thank you for the informative videos man!
Thanks youu this is the best video I needed
Hey man, I really appreciate the time and effort you put into this video. Any input on cruise control functionality?
Where was this when I needed it!? 😂😂 I damn near lost my mind.
Thanks for the video! very Helpful
Great video man thank you! Quick question tho why do you have to run a manual air idle control valve couldn’t you just use the auto intake with the air idle control on the throttle body?
Thank you for making such a clear video.
No problem. I did forget to mention the ecu wiring but they have decent write ups if you type "96 civic auto to manual ecu wiring" Or whatever year your car is.
@@TexasHondaChannel yeah I saw you talk about it in another video and sweet thanks
Thanks for sharing! Really glad to see that the swap is a direct bolt in for the 6th gen unlike the 5th gen. I just bought a super clean 1997 Civic for really cheap because it needs a head gasket and has 353,000 miles. I'm definitely going to swap it to a 5 speed when the auto dies or possibly sooner. What a shame modern cars don't last like these!
Great video bro thanks for the info 😊
Love your work bro. Piece of advice, remove your rings while working.
"I never have any help I'm always out here alone" 😔then in the next screen when it's driving you have a passenger 😔 typical lol thanks a million man. I legit screen shot and wrote notes for ever step of this process lmao
Great video.
I have a auto d17 and got at manual intake manifold how should I proceed im terms of putting it on
I don't even have a civic and I watched the whole thing
Love the detail in this video bro, awesome coverage, just wish you would have built the D15B7 instead of the D16. Super underdog status that would have been. Funny @ 22:43 I saw the quarter and said the same thing at the exact same time you did. 😂
Too bad you don't get paid enough to do this full time. I know I'd do it.
Tony Ventura I’m only 1000 hours away from getting monetized on this channel. Once that happens I will be making money on this channel and my other one
@@TexasHondaChannel 1000 hrs of footage time? That's good then. Are you going to do a mini me swap? That would be nice to see in full detail.
Tony Ventura I didn’t record the mini me swap. I just got it done like 30 mins ago. I actually thought about recording it but didn’t wanna do another video. I’m tired af
@@TexasHondaChannel I believe you, doing the removal and installation by yourself takes more energy than people think, especially when it's all in your driveway.
good job sir. thanks for the info
I have a 1993 eg8 civic i put a gearbox in it but the long side axle dont go all the way in the gearbox, can you tell me why.
I was going to ask when you install the clutch pedal what wire do you need to plug with the clutch pedal and also what was the size for copper line to run the line for slave cylinder and how big of the dimmer does it has to be able for the fluid to pass through?
Dude, you are a legend!!!
From where you can run the vtec sensor with temperature sensor? My wiring harness doesnt have those sensor previous owner manual swap this car and a few sensors are not coneccted, vtec sensor, temperature sensor, air control valve. Please help.
I'm so glad there is informational videos like this. Your a blessing bro! I have a d16y8 auto that is horrible on take off. I found a d16y8 manual at the salvage that has everything to get it done but the ecu. I'm sure you need a d16y8 5 speed vtec ecu right? Or is there a certain ecu you need?
SAVAGE WARRIORZZ I failed to mention the ecu aspect I’m terribly sorry. The manual ecu is a must. You have to do some wiring at the ecu Connector but it’s really easy. I actually did another video where I mentioned it in a update video. You can google image search 96-98 auto to manual ecu wiring or 99-00 auto to manual ecu wiring and they have pictures of how to do it.
@@TexasHondaChannel Thank you so much dang I'm sorry about the hour! Just got off work! I'm right over here in oklahoma lol. I like your channel you do amazing work! I really so appreciate it thank you so much.
Hey THC , so I can use the automatic brake & Gas pedal correct. …I was told I need all three pedals from a manual car???:(
I see you mid said something with the automatic connector from the shifter, the green and black wires are ran to the clutch switch. Not the thicker wires. Keep thick wires tied together

Texas Honda Channel I’m doing this exact swap and needed to know do I use my auto Ecu or to I get an manual one. Also can I get a parts list that’s exactly needed for this?
@@delontachristian8125 I know you asked James, but I looked into doing the same thing and from what I can find is you can do it with OBD1 ECUs by removing 2 resistors but not OBD2. There are tons of manual ECUs on Ebay, I picked one up last week and hope to do the swap myself real soon
Texas Honda Channel Hey !! I did the same exact swap and for some reason my car won’t start. My manual starter was tested 100% good, and I just don’t know why my car won’t start. The battery is also good. Do you know any reason of why my car would not Start/crank up ?
