Thanks Tod! Mechanical Engineer by trade, now consulting for Oil and Gas as an automation (UAV and Robotics) Expert. I want to continue van builds on the side!
OMG!!!! Thank you!! LOL I have been so frustrated with DK Hardware going back and forth with emails ... called CRL too because thought I was missing the frame for the window ... so discouraged after paying $500 and had not opened the box for months so I was past point of returning and now I GET IT!!! That Is Hysterical. THANK YOU SO MUCH!!! AHHHHHHHH I am gonna sleep great tonight!! @SeleniteWanderer
I stubbled across your channel because of your work bench build and then just started watching everything. I'm a RV Tech by trade and you're doing great work! Better then anything manufactured that's for sure!
Wow thanks Josh! That’s a huge compliment! I definitely plan to do more of these van conversions! They are really fun! Lots of different components / Systems...
I see you put the weld on the window instead of on the metal of the van. You're the first one I've seen do it this way. Wondering if it makes a difference or not? Also saw many folks say to get a 26:1 calking gun, the weld is super hard to get out.
I wish you had shown screwing in the clamp ring to the bunk window. A lot of people seem to have issues with this on the CR Lawrence windows due to them not being pre-drilled. I would like to have seen how you handled that. Can you explain what you did for this step?
Correct, The exterior portion of the clamp ring is not pre-drilled and the interior clamp ring is to locate your screw pattern around the window. Hardware provided by CR is sheet metal screws. The exterior ring is a bent extrusion with a groove that aligns with the screw pattern and acts as a “starter” for the sheet metal screw to self Tap into. Not too bad to but definitely need a helper On the outside pushing the frame in. If you didn’t have a second hand. This would be very hard.
@@biglogan3690 Thanks! I have seen some people pre-drill the holes and others just seem to go for it. I am afraid I might not have the physical strength to push a screw through if I don't pre-drill. But I am also afraid of pre-drilling - lol. Just working on mustering the courage to tackle this project next!
Can you share how the inside of the bonded window turned out inside the van? I see it's recommended to put a clean edging on it, or i suppose you frame it out with wood. Also I'm getting a similar window to install on the Driver's side middle panel (will be only window on that side of 3500 ext). Can it be placed solo like this?...It will look either really sleek or odd on its own :D
Great video, @biglogan3690, but I wish you'd done an "after" shot from the inside because from what I can tell, the inside might not look too great due to the fact that 1) you used white paint applied kinda sloppily on the cut edge of the opening and 2) I saw no evidence that the the cut opening on the interior has any kind of trim, so the raw edge of the cut, however neatly filed, would become the inside surface of the installation. So the window looks very professional and clean from the outside, but seems like it'd look kinda ghetto from the inside, right?
Be careful shutting the side door with all the windows closed while the adhesive is still curing. It could blow it right out if you don't leave another door or window open to relieve the sudden pressure of closing the big slider door.
is that 3m caulk permeant?? has it held up. I am looking into getting my self a dodge promaster 2500 159' wheel base. your videos are great and very detailed, really helps me understand everything.
The 3M window weld is identical to OEM bonding urethane that are used on most window installations on the assembly line. It is SUPER TOUGH, and also really nasty if you get on your hands (spoken from experience before this van build lol) Good Luck and thanks for the great feedback Ceasar!
Hey so I’ve heard people putting in max air vent up top have one chance to cut correctly, and if they screw it’s up it’s not really fixable. I’m looking at a van tomorrow snd wondered how can I tell. Just see if it leaks?
That’s really all you can do, apart from removing the interior trim ring (4 Phillips head screws) and seeing up the sheet metal (if possible. You can seal these from the top and bottom if need be so not too bad…
Its actually NEITHER. Unfortunate as it is, CRL does not provide a template. You need to exceed the exterior ring dimensions by roughly 1/8" to 1/4" total across top and bottom axis' and continue this offset through the rounded edges. Good Luck!
How far did you measure down from the ridge to the top of the window cut out on the outside? We have spray foam on the inside so measuring and marking inside is tough.
Hey Logan! I’m thinking about putting the same window on my Ford transit door, but I’m worried that if I was to close the door hard that it may break or fall off! Can you tell me how it has held up for you? 🙂🙂
Does anyone know if my 2005 Econoline Van windows can be reused in a Transit Cargo Van. I'm talking about the two windows on the drivers side. The one right behind the driver the opens from the bottom and the longer fixed closed window on the drivers side also the long side window on the passenger side.
No Finish Image from the Inside? You're only half done with this video!!! Can you tell me how you finished off the sheet metal and did you lose integrity of the door when you cut that much metal out???
Logan whats your day job? You have a ton of skills for this stuff.

Tod FYI I’ve been listening to your extensive Bossa Nova Playlist! Love Jazz music!

THIS is what Ii've been looking for! pure window.
You have done a remarkable job on "Peggy". Progressing very well.
The best window video
It is the best camper-van conversion I've seen. Very informative. Thanks Logan. You're very smart and talented man.

Worth watching just to find out about the scissor blade on the caulk gun - I never knew that !!!!!
Is been long time since you posted this video and it gave me some good heads ups for my build . Thank you
Thanks Jakub! Good luck on your build
Amazing video, thank you so much! Really cool!
This is awesome man! Love how it’s coming together keep it up brother 👍🏽
Thanks a bunch!!! Should have a new vlog out later this week!

Very clean install. How is the bunk window attached? I didn't see you put any sealant or adhesive before popping it in

yay
that window is so sick, my only concern would be if it ever breaks, must be a hassle to replace...

Very well!

Roughly 4” down from the body line and 6” forward...
Handicap version ... when is that coming out?

These products are OEM quality. You will have a fun time removing the bonded window after it cures. Stuff is tough!!
Glued on vs bumpy long gravel roads?
