This is an underrated movie. The CGI is so nice, makes everything looks so realistic.
Underrated by who?
@@maximilianodelrio I don't know either but I do know that people on the internet throw that term "underrated" left and right at everything... and it gets annoying. This movie got a theatrical released sequel. So by that already proven wrong.
@@taurinstraiter2325 People think its a good dumb movie. Thats wrong.
Whenever the camera disappeared, I couldn’t help but laugh at that dog leg just poking into frame.
Nice surprise that you reacted to this one. It is of the ones I love the most and of which I have the best memories. It was the last one that I watched at the theater with my partner, whom we tragically lost shortly thereafter. We enjoyed it together so much, we were cheering at the screen at every battle like little children. It made us really happy, what most can you ask to a movie.
It´s not the best movie in the world by any means , but it will always have a very special place in my heart.
If I remember right Jaeger means hunter in German. Kaiju means monster in Japanese.
Yup. its the first thing shown in the movie 👍🏾
Kaiju translates literally as "strange creature." Meaning-wise, it's probably closest to the English word "cryptid," and describes any unusual monster or animal. Godzilla and the like are a sub-class called _daikaiju,_ meaning "great/big strange creature."
Now that's a best Sci Fi movie ever by Guillermo del Toro
Say what you want but goddamn this movie was basically a live action anime. And it's awesome
Well gerimo del Toro is a fan of super Sentai, Ultraman and Godzilla so it makes sense for this to have that vibe
Toootally. It's one of the closest to live action Mech Anime we're ever gotten and they've done it well.
@@Godzilla-tu2cdSource?
@@Godzilla-tu2cd Don’t forget Mazinger Z since he’s a huge Go Nagai fan.
@@EChacon oh yeah thank you 😁👍🏿👍🏿
This movie is an absolute love letter to the Kaiju genre
And Mecha genre
If it seemed epic to you, imagine what it was like to be able to see it in theaters, crazy
I agree 💯👍🏿
easily one of my favorite monster movies
Yeeeep. This baby and it's continuation WAS BUILT FOR THE BIG SCREEN. Truly hope we get a third movie eventually.
It was such an amazing experience I was 13 when it came out, Safe to say I instantly fell in love with this movie
It was really well done in iMax.
Thank you for this reaction! Not many people have reacted to this.
Yeah more people toootally should. The creaters did a masterclass on these two films.
@@danielwhyatt3278 Two ? Pacific Rim Uprising a masterclass ?
YEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAH! One of my favorite summer action flicks to watch. shame the sequel was utter crap though.
Few points:
They designed the Kaiju on what they fought and was defeated by the previous times so would design a new kaiju specifically to fight that such as the acid to get through the thick armour of Cherno, the EMP to disable the Jaegers themselves, leaving a baby inside so it would act like a carrier, designed specific water-only kaiju to protect the breach etc.
They = the aliens.
They explained the plan to bomb the breach halfway through.
If they disagreed about what actions while in the drift/joined then they wouldn't be compatible and wouldn't be in that position in the first place which is why they got tests to determine it. Siblings have the strongest connection as Raleigh and his bro said at the start.
The "let's check for a pulse" was in relation to the start of the movie which was Raleighs last fight in a Jaeger where he lost his brother (he was literally double tapping it to make sure it was dead)
Sequel felt like anime crap, ngl
one of the refreshing things about this movie was the lack of romance. it was nice they just had a friendship.
The CGI in this movie is better than most of the CGI in 2022, Dare I say there's nothing that's come close to Pacific Rim's CGI work since maybe Godzilla 2014
Didn't know that Knuckles the Echidna led the army of giant Yeager robots against interdimentional Kaiju monsters. He is a true warrior and war hero.
I'm still laughing about the dog leg on the right. XD
This movie is one of the best movies to ever grace cinema. Guillermo Del Toro is a damn genius.
And remember everyone, there is only one Pacific Rim. Not sure where people are getting the idea that there's two.
Whaaat. Pacific Rim 2 was tooootally great as well man. I just with it made it more clear at the end in how the story will continue from there. I'm SURE we'll find out eventually though.
Pacific rim, the best robot vs monster movie ever!
I agree but I'm struggling to think of other robot v monster movies lol how many are there ?
@@chrisbowlby9640 Pacific rim 2... Oh wait, it doesn't exist.
This movie was base of anime of Evangelion and another anime (I forgot what the name of it). And the name of the giant monsters; Kaiju was use from the popular Japanese drama called Ultraman.
Is it Gundam or Mazinger Z, because Guillermina Del Toro is more of a Go Nagai fan.
I like this movie
Same. Shame we never got a sequel.
Me too
Ok.
Actually we did, "Pacific Rim Uprising", it's pretty awesome too!
@@TemporaryJ bruh you been under a rock?
Finally!! Not many of my favorite reactors have reacted to this underrated gem.
Doesn't feel really underrated to me. It seems like for those who are fans of sci-fi or our openminded it is VERY WELL KNOWS.
Dear ladies: “Kailju” was invented for Godzilla starting in 1954. Btw: that first Godzilla is the best 🎉
Ishiro Honda´s movies are wonderful.
The term Kaiju existed prior to Godzilla but made popular thanks to him of course.
Thanks!
Looks like they missed the end credit scene where Ron came out of the stomach of the kaiju for his shoes!!!
After the Godzilla and King Kong franchise, this is one of my favorite stand alone monster movies.
There're two movies man...and sure to be another eventually now that the second season of The Black can out some months ago.
@@danielwhyatt3278 I don't really consider Uprising to be cannon.
such a sadly underrated movie. i love it so much!
two people, one giant robot. just as your brain has two main hemispheres. the left side of your brain controls the right side of your body. and the right side of your brain controls the left. Kaiju is japanese for strange best. one meaning for jagger is carrier.
The dogs leg at the beginning lmao
Ron Pearlman didn't drif he used a public bunker once and this is how he got his injury
27:17 you got it wrong. he didnt try the merge. he tried the public bunker. thats what he was talking about.
If you enjoy movies centered around big creatures, Cloverfield (2008) is a good one
Now that is an amaaazing film. For that style too, I would tooootally recommend Chronicle.
You guys should watch the Godzilla & Kong movies next!!
Hell no ua-cam.com/video/oAMyAj_xGes/v-deo.html
As Michelle noted, there's a lot of inconsistencies : plan to build a wall instead of the mecha will actualy cost way more and big chances it will break soon, it seems ineffective to use some common metal objects rather than the ultra strong metal fists of the mecha, pilots are usually brothers, father / son as their mind must have a special bond, but Raleigh and Mako are better than the others with no bond at all, there is only one portal and the Jaegers are all over the world ...
Jaeger means hunter in German
And Russian Егерь (Yeger'), now usually meaning forrest keeper, seems to be derieved from it
There’s a reason they don’t usually resort to bladed or explosive weapons but rather engage with blunt force. It’s explained early on that Kaiju blood is extremely toxic and hazardous to the environment, so they try to cause as little bleeding as possible (physical punches) or use a weapon that cauterizes the wounds (like gypsy’s plasma cannon). There’s other Jaegers in the backstory that use electrical or cryonic weaponry as well, all intended to have as little impact on the environment as possible.
I'd just like to point out that the Kaiju have acidic blood, so that's why the robots punch them, or use energy based cannons to close any open wounds, the sword was a last ditch effort, that can only be safely done deep underwater or in atmosphere, where the blood would burn up before it made it's way back down to Earth.
One of my favourites, probably thanks to Djawadi's epic music
Same bro. This score slaps. Second to the soundtrack for king of the monsters for my favorite Kaiju score in a modern day Kaiju movie
His score for this and Iron Man is awesome
@@Godzilla-tu2cd Yeah man. Pus PR The Black also had a briiilliant soundtract. Reeeally wish it could've been longer that 2 seasons. I mean, it ended will, but I just wiiish we didn't have to wait quite a few years for a second season only for it to finish so quickly. Really hoping we get a continuation or spin-off in some form eventually, as I really do thing that the studio involved with their animation style did Pacific Rim justice.
Cool. You gonna watch "King Arthur: Legend of the Sword" with Charlie Hunnam! Very underrated movie)
YES IT IS ARCANE, TRANSFORMERS, STAR WARS AND POWER RANGERS COMBINED TOGETHER!
lol@ the dogs one paw sticking up at the beginning.
To answer your question at 3:20 they are literally thinking and doing the exact same thing that what drifting is their minds become one and they have a good drift because they are brothers so their bond is really close
I fricken love this movie !!
Was following the news behind it when it was in early production had a long wait but worth it ! :D
1. I don’t think 54:40 counts as a crying moment.
2. Moon Sugar, like I said before, gorillas are apes, not really monkeys. If it’s a tail, it’s a monkey. No tail, ape. Simple way of telling a difference between certain species of primates.
3. That robot that y’all said looked like a rhino. I was thinking more like a frilled lizard. Either of y’all ever seen one of those creatures? An actual frilled lizard looks kinda like a lion or a fur seal.
4. Did anyone else think that one guy looked like Charlie Day? He sounded a bit like him, too.
5. Other than that, the guy I recognized in that movie was Heimdall.
Saw this on theatres with my dad and it was an absolute hype train in there
Del Toro got his inspection from Japanese anime, mecha and kaiju movies. Del Toro got the design for the jaegures from an anime called Gundam which is one of my favorite anime’s!
I love this flick most underrated in H- town
“H-town?”
@@andrewestrada6531 Hollywood Bro
The kaiju are so large, they need two brains to move around like a jeager, not so much like a dinosaur.
You girls should watch all the Monsterverse movies:
-Godzilla 2014
-Kong Skull Island
-Godzilla: King of the Monsters
-Godzilla vs Kong
Yes 👍🏿
27:17 Where on earth did you get the idea that Hannibal Chau had tried drifting with a Kaiju? They weren't even talking about that, they were talking about the public refuges. Chau had hidden from a Kaiju attack in a shelter once, and somehow got into a fight that cost him his eye.
When this trailer first came out, I thought it was a Power Rangers reboot at first.
It's silly but it's one of my favourites.
I concur. I want my giant robots battles epic and dumb! 😄
And P.S. you should all watch Home Alone 2. It surpasses the first movie.
Another great reaction Homies! As long as you keep making these i'll keep watchin!
This was a really good movie could even consider it a classic at this point
Por si no lo sabían hay una escena postcredito con el hombre que es tragado por el bebé kaiyu saliendo de el bebé
In case you didn't know, there IS a postcredit scene of RON PERLMAN the man that the baby kaiju swallowed.
This is definitely an "Evangelion" clone, with some twists.
Would now be a good time to introduce you to the Toho Showa Universe? Which is the very first Godzilla series' you should watch those as you work your way though each Godzilla series until you reach the current series which is the Monsterverse.
The first Godzilla series has the most with 15 sequels and 15 tie in films, along with a tv series which is ultra rare and hard to get unless you live in Japan.
Just for the record I do own the Zone Fighter TV series which Godzilla shows up in 5 of the 26 episodes' but anyway you need to get on it and start with the original Godzilla (1954) film, ASAP!
I had no net acces for 6 months. One of the downloaded fiml's was this. 103x saw this! Favorite film. xD
Thx for the reaction its such a great movie! Cant wait for them to make a sequel! :')
They did - don't lie with sarcasm
@@gevorg1989 Its almost like i can imagine it, a great sequel to pacific rim, ooh boy thats so exciting, cant wait for them to make one!!!
I'm glad you enjoyed this movie. I hope they can react to the Monsterverse soon
You will love the neon colors of Godzilla vs Kong
This movie is great imo, but i think to fully enjoy it you need to have watched at least some 80s-90s mecha animes and tokusatsu series and maybe also robot jox.
THIS MOVIE WAS AWESOME!
You would think the first time somebody drifts they would do it in a drift device that isn't attached to a bunch of guns and other weaponry.
Gipsy Danger would *not* fall down to Earth like a spacecraft from orbit. That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever. There is nothing similar between the two scenarios at all. It would just fall, reach a terminal velocity that would be nowhere near high enough to burn it, and hit the ground. Spacecraft fall as they do because they start with a speed of 17500 mph!
Kaiju is the general Japanese term for a giant monster, such as Godzilla.
When it gets available online - please check this year's "Amsterdam" and "The Menu" - great and funny movies
The best movie of 2013. Guillermo del Toro directed the hell out of it. I adore it. I have a Gipsy Danger action figure that lights up. I simply adore this movie. The cgi is top tier and the characters are likable. Loved your reaction.
PS. : the sequel doesn't exist.
"What if they are in different opinion?"(after they watch how drift happen and has been explained by the movie itself)
Been waiting for long for your reaction on this movie...una de mis favoritas
PLEASE react to FLIPPED. (2010). It's such a beautiful love story of two young kids in love.... You won't regret it.
love this movie. I'd also love to see the gang watch+react to Peter Jackson's King Kong from 2005. Especially with how emotional Ellie can get (with that in mind, that movie might break her)
Любимият ми филм благодаря за компанията докато гледах ❤️😭☺️
As you might expect, the science in this movie is really bad. For one thing, EMPs (electromagnetic pulses) affect both digital and analog circuits, and also both can be hardened or protected against EMPs if that is part of the design. It has nothing to do with digital versus analog--either the electronics are shielded against EMPs, or they will be burned out.
Another type of bad science involves materials. In real life, alloys are used not because they are cheaper (often they are not), but because they have superior properties, including strength and hardness. Pure iron is nowhere near as strong as steel (an iron alloy that contains carbon and other elements), and the same goes for aluminum and its alloys. Even titanium is not as strong as the alloys that are made with it. But in the movie, pure metals are always better, and alloys are always inferior. It is the opposite of the real world.
Since it’s Christmas, you should watch “Scrooge “ with bill murray.

Girls, you should check out "Crimson Peak", another one of Guillermo Del Toro's (director of Pacific Rim) and also, "47 Ronin", which also stars Rinko Kikuchi (who plays Mako Mori in this).
Answer for 3:27! Then they wouldn’t be drift compatible
Did they not react to yancy's death? Why it isn't a highlight? Perhaps only patrons can see it. Me not like this
They should React to the Sequel Now!
Michelle and Ellie are Gypsy Danger.
Great movie 🙌🏻
why does every reaction video skip the mid credit scene where Hannibal slits the monster's stomach and comes out saying 'where's my goddamn shoe'
I get it robot n monsters not everyone's favorite. But man, those cgi back then, the sound of gears inside those war machine, heavy blow between each smack? Yeah 👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌👌🤤
In these movies (and anything like them), why don't they just use the big weapons from the start? Like in _Voltron_ , just form the blazing sword and slice those "robeasts" in half right away! Yes, I know that would be less exciting, but it's so silly. Don't have such weapons at all, then, and beat the kaiju to death instead.
I just watched this today..it was sooo cool!
Yes, if this were real life, we'd focus much more on creating powerful weapons that can kill the kaiju quickly, rather than wasting a lot of time and effort on making giant robots to punch the kaiju in the face with their fists. That's just stupid. But for a movie, it's so fun and cool-looking! 😁
Personally, I've always disliked holographic and transparent displays in movies, because in real life they would be inferior to regular monitors, which have much better contrast and no interference from the background. If the room were darkened, then they would work better, but otherwise just give me a regular display. To me, it's weird to want to use transparent displays, except for certain special purposes (like aiming weapons and things like that).
The point of the neural integration is that so their mind is basically thinking collectively so as long as the link is strong they can work seamlessly but if the link is weak then disagreements can break the link
This movie always reminded me of Robot Jox.
Crash and Burn
You two should check out the 2012 movie Battleship.
I LOVE THIS MOVIE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love♥️ this movie!!! It's fantastic🥰!!!
When I first heard of this movie I honestly thought it was an Asian porn film. I was slightly disappointed to find out it was a mainstream sci-fi movie. 🤷♂️

Very good movies. I think that I like him more when he works in spanish language. It´s my second language and english only third, so I could be biased for that, but those movies tend to be rawer and more powerful IMO.
I also love which I think was his first movie, Cronos.
Who starts this epic? Thats Guillermo del Toro for ya
