The first two YES albums are vastly underrated; strangely relaxing / calming to listen to with jazz influenced spacey jams courtesy of Banks and Bruford.......RIP Squire Chris and Peter Banks you especially are not forgotten.........
+Harold de Mure my favourite all time records from yes are the first three...i adore rick wakeman but the first records with kaye have a special mood, less obviously baroque but the way tony kaye played the organ is impressive, and perfectly matching the style of the songs.
Love the period when Jon could sing in his quieter and lower range, which is quite rich. Also love the outright jazz influence in their earlier recordings. Love what Alan White brought to the band but, Bill's departure changed so much about the band.
I was thinking the same thing. Later recordings, Jon started almost yelping the songs but this song along with Sweetness, I See You, Survival , you really appreciate Jon's high tenor vocals. I also agree the Bill leaving the band effected their sound so much. I saw an interview where Rick Wakeman said that"Bill leaving is when you can see the cracks in the scaffolding and we were never quite the same"
I too love the lower range way more than the upper one of 20 years + later. This song really brings out Chris’s playing and shows how each member especially Jon and Steve were drop dead gorgeous.
Chris Squire . Greatest bass player ever . LOVED that top end mettallic sound he got . Thanks for everything Chris . I'm so glad I saw you in Sydney not long before he was taken from us . You played the best lead bass guitar breaks I've ever heard .
Norman, So sorry for your loss. Peter will always be in the airwaves and in our lives. He was a super super gifted person. But you know that. Peace to Peter.
4:33 And here we see Chris making his finest innovation. Not one on the bass guitar, no, but instead making what would become the DAB👌 👌👌 👌 💯 👌 👀 👀 👀 👌👌
@@elizabethdiggar3115 dabbing is a dance move where you give a sharp nod into your forearm while gesturing in a direction and gesturing in the same direction with your other arm outstretched.

I thought of the concept of MTV in 1969. Films to music when I was 15 years old. Not bragging but like you I loved the idea. MTV started in 1981 and I heard they just shut down the channel a day or two ago. No faith nor true understanding of the concept if done properly !
This is hilarious. Ahead of its time, years before MTV. The Bruford/Kaye period of Yes is one of my absolute favorites. It swings, grooves, and rocks in a way that the Wakeman/White period doesn't. I wish this incarnation had remained intact for a few more albums.
Well put, I feel the exact same way. This album is great but I wish it was longer, the jazz influence and the grooviness of the whole thing is very infectious.
I played this for a young person who (1) never heard of progressive rock and (2) thinks rock and roll is ancient, yelling music. She was HIGHLY impressed!
As others who have said the same - been a fan since the early 70's and this is the first time I've seen this video. Was laughing and smiling all the way through,
Wow, I didn't know Yes made actual music videos like this back in the day. This is both seductively tranquil and wacky at the same time. Steve Howe's goofy face at 2:28 cracks me up every time! LOL Thanks for posting. :) Cheers!
Yeah, this clip seemed to have a decent budget behind it, even though Yes were not yet very successful sales-wise. It still looks so great because it was shot on film.
Even though Steve's taking part in these promos, the guitar work was Peter Banks's, and he can really tear it up. MAkes you wonder what would happen if Steve and Peter shared a stage.

It's deeply disappointing that as a Yes-obsessed teenager in the 70's I had no idea these videos existed and now I get to see them when I am close to 60 and the obsession has long passed, although the appreciation is still very much there. Where was UA-cam when I needed it? Love the Time And A Word album - agree with other comments that it has a special mood. Those early gigs in the Marquee Club must have been very special.
Such a cool choice for a song to cover. I wonder if Stills has ever heard it. They made some very interesting choices on what to cover; along with some interesting arrangements. Stuff like "Every Little Thing", "America", "I See You", "No Opportunity Necessary, No Experience Needed"
Agree,a wonderful cover that I only recently discovered after decades of dipping in and out of YES. Now one of my all time favourites, for as you mentioned,it's arrangement etc. The strings and vocals especially, give it a beautifully dreamy feel. Do like Buffalo Springfied's original, but this is far superior, in my opinion.
This is the Yes I knew before the Yes Album, CTTE, TFTO, etc. The Yes that kept playing in my mind as I went about my day, Everydays. And, Then, when I listened to the rest of it I realized we were so Close to the Edge, telling Tales from Topographic Oceans. WOW!!

Alan White was a great drummer, but Bill Bruford was more than a drummer, he was on artist/composer level.
They were unique from the beginning. That voice will never be duplicated. Long live YES.
yeap ...we will never hear their likes again .....kind of sad.

Soft within the wayward things
Like ecstasy
The sound of trees

Drive over hills, forget your fear
Getting it out of second gear
