LIVE Susan Smith PAROLE HEARING after Serving Thirty Year Prison Sentence

Susan Smith, 53, was convicted of murdering her two children, 3-year-old Michael and 14-month-old Alexander in 1994. She had reported that an African-American man had carjacked her and drove away with her sons, and after nine days of media interviews, pleading for the return of her boys, she admitted to drowning them by letting her car roll into John D. Long Lake. She could have faced the death penalty, but jurors at her trial ultimately decided on a life sentence for her. She was incarcerated at the Camille Griffin Graham Correctional Institution in Columbia, South Carolinain 1995 and in 2000 she was moved to Leath Correctional Institution in Greenwood County; she is now eligible for parole.
