Somehow Nicholson and Helen Hunt took the lead Oscar's that year with As Good as it Gets. Forster was up against Burt Reynolds in Boogie Nights for supporting actor, but both lost to Robin Williams, Good Will Hunting (many feel Reynolds was robbed, and they have a good argument, but I'd still give it to Forster). Titanic dominated everything else. You don't even wanna see the list of movies with multiple nominations, which Jackie Brown is not on. The Full Monty had 4? Jesus.
The more I see it the more I become convinced it is his true best in terms of raw filmmaking talent. The range and depth he shows in this film shows what he’s truly capable of doing - and he did this so relatively early in his career as a self-made, self-educated filmmaker. Shows what hard work, passion, and total dedication can do.
Agreed! I first saw it in a theatre opening weekend. It blew me away! Since then, I’ve surely seen it 100 times. It’s his absolute best film! It’s for real fans. 🍎
Hard agree. I bought all his movies on DVD in 2004, and this was the one I hadn't seen yet and I put off watching it for ages. When I did I was so surprised how much I enjoyed it, after going in blind (I don't remember seeing trailers for the movie or reading any press for it when it was out in the UK - March/April 1998). And it's became the most rewarding on rewatch. I think you see something new on every rewatch, a bit like Jaws does. Some actors at the top of their game, fully inhabiting their characters as real, lived people with their own agendas and motivations.
I've seen jackie brown in 2010 for the first time I believe and I was like ,ok ok decent movie, now in 2021 I rewatched the movie and boy oh boy ... what a masterpiece ! Amazing movie from start to the finish, very very deep , amazing music , amazing actors , brilliant plot , I was blowed away ( in 2010 I was 25 years old now 35 , maybe getting older changed the perception I guess ) damn now I have to change the all ranking of Tarantino movies
Samuel L. Jackson was scary at the ending scene of Jackie Brown with the long hair instead of the ponytail. I like when Max Cherry is at his house and Jackson has the gun pointed at him and he says "All Louis had to do was hit Melanie in the mouth but know..he had to shoot her." Very scary. I love all QT films! Keep it up.
Quentin is such a joy to listen to. hes a micro manager but bot i. an annoying way. Hes THE BOSS yet he somehow always sounds like the fanboy the amateur film student who cant believe hes doing films
Tarantino is a rare director who really seems to be a movie buff. So many directors in interviews seem like the only movies they've ever seen are the ones they've directed.
I never ever paid attention to Tarantino but I have heard about him throughout my life-just a little bit here and there. . . I just never really cared.. This is the first time I have got to know him. I guess I didn't think I would like him, but I love him. . .
I'm not really a fan of Tarantino's movies as such, I think some of them have good set pieces and the like but in the main way way too long and over hyped in the end. Two stand out - Pulp Fiction even after all the parodies etc still retains its allure, the jokes are still funny, the explosions of violence are still powerful, the plot still unravels beautifully. Its probably his signature film. But... I think his best film is Jackie Brown. Beginning to end its perfect, despite its length its never boring, I'm always completely invested in the characters, and the acting is uniformly great. I know he's pushing totally different buttons with his other pictures but JB for me is his masterpiece. The scene where Jackie explains how having to start over again unemployed in her 40's is more terrifying than Ordell is beautifully written and acted, and affecting.
I think Pulp Fiction appeals to a wider audience, whereas Jackie Brown -- it being a more mature, grounded love story between older people -- is enjoyed more by people with a certain level of life experience. I remember finding JB simply boring and too long when I first saw it years ago, and after watching it last year for the 2nd time, I certainly enjoyed it more.
I went through this phase of never watching movies unless they were written or directed by QT or Martin Scorsese….then I ran out of movies to watch so I started on woody Allen movies and I actually like those too
I still remember and quote Sam Jackson’s line «hold on to your butts!» from Jurrasic Park to this day. Next movie I seen him in was True Romance where he again had another «butt» line😅🤣
Most underrated Tarantino movie!
*best
@@traceylucas5697 definitely not the best. It's enjoyable. It's fun. Not terribly great.
@@d_no_allyn_86 disagree
Tracey Lucas I will respect the fact you’re mature about your opinion.
Agreed! Took me three viewings of JB to realize its greatness.
One of the greatest movies ever made.
One of my favorite movies, such amazing actors!
Pam Grier was Oscar worthy for sure.Loved her in all of her movies
Pam Grier was great.

Great point. America isn’t perfect, but it has a unique greatness. With enough talent, hard work and luck dreams can come true.
Man, what a blast. Tarantino talking about catching audiences' reactions in theatres. Great.
If Tarantino was black... Spike Lee would call him one of the greatest filmmakers working.
Dude just stfu....get off spike nuts
Uh lol
@@kekesmooth5618 that's Tarantino's nuts...
abel ferrara's better than both spike and tarintino in my opinion, but i loved all of them as directors

It's amazing how he knows exactly what he's doing. What a great artistic consciousness.
Jackie brown will always be my favourite of his i particularly love the 3rd act pure quality cinema
The last 10 minutes are gold. Bravo Quentin!
Take a shot every time he says “alright”
17:34 ""Sam is actually usually never humble."" My favorite part of this whole thing lol
Samuel L. Jackson was scary at the ending scene of Jackie Brown with the long hair instead of the ponytail. yup
when Quentin was still a slightly humble and still obsessed with passionate ideas he's held for decades,
He used restaurants in Hawthorne CA. Cool. Jackie Brown is another great work of art.
Quentin is such a joy to listen to. hes a micro manager but bot i. an annoying way. Hes THE BOSS yet he somehow always sounds like the fanboy the amateur film student who cant believe hes doing films
this movie ages like a fine wine
What an amazing mind QT has. So fascinating to listen to!!
It's 90% feet so the remaining 10% being so good at directing is insane
Tarantino is a rare director who really seems to be a movie buff.

..'cause he WAS/IS a MOVIE NERD?
seems?
18:36 - Watching Goodfellas, dude he's IN Goodfellas!!! 🤣🤣
It’s my all time favorite
The dude is relentlessly himself 💯
Quentin is so funny, I can't take it!
Love the way him and Soderbergh used Keaton for the same role. Same thing happened with Charles Manson with Once Upon a time and Mindhunter
Tarrantinos casting and soundtracks are the greatest of all time
Interviewer: Inaudible question.
Tarantino getting the best actor for the role over the best name is great
Yeah Sam was in least 3 classics before he made it big...Goodfellas, Coming To America, Jurassic Park, etc.
first time ever a director mentions rap as a literary tool...crazy!!!!
I like that the Bail Bonds guy is essentially the same character that pops up in breaking bad to hide Walt.
Tarantno owns Spike Lee times one thousand... Spike Lee gets so jealous that Tarantino can make a better black film than himself
Negative...he's not good enough to work with Denzel.
@@kekesmooth5618 denzel wishes he worked with tarantino
@@WarPigs413 haha denzel did just fine without that weirdo.

The fact you can write and direct 9 movies where 7 of them are considered masterpieces and death proof and the hateful eight still being great movies

I spent like 10 minutes trying to figure out what role Sam Elliott played in Pulp Fiction before I realized it was just a mistake on the video TOC

see you in Toronto!
With my copy of "Acting" a handbook of the Stanislavski Method.

All the Tarantino movies are Unique and deep , when u see other movies are all very hollow
The chapter called Pamela Anderson... is it a joke or was it an intern that edited the youtube video?
Curious if the Coffy poster behind quentin now resides inside Pam's Coffy.
Is Quentin aware that Samuel L. Jackson was in Goodfellas?
Tarantino pronounces it "Goodfellows".
I love that, FilMagicians
Chris Tucker and Tiny lister are only two didn't get interview in Jackie Brown.

by NOT using the HOT star list Q T probably gets actors who are going to be ego less i. working with him
did quentin not know sam jackson was actually in goodfellas?
You can listen to him telling stories the whole day.
"He remembers watching Goodfellas", well, he was actually acting in Goodfellas so...
I'm surprised he doesn't write "alright" between every sentence of his dialogue 😂😂😂
I Love Jackie Brown. Read the paper
I felt sorry for and related to ordell. only thing was a shame was cos I liked LOUIS and BEAUMONT.
Pure genius
I wonder how many black people have watched Jackie Brown, a film with an extraordinary black protagonist. Probably very few.
Very few im sure, its in my top 5 still watch it til this day
Robert Forster used to act just like Sydney Pollack .
👌🏼
1. Inglorious Basterds
2. Jackie Brown
3. Pulp Fiction

best tarantino movie, even more than True Romance! incredible caper!
I intend for Quentin Tarantino to produce and get my movie made for our highest good.
