Underscrubbing

After the Great War a new generation of pioneer set out to bring the wilderness into productivity. Much could be done with an axe and a box of matches in the right hands.
It would drain the blood from the face of a modern Greenie. But 100 years ago the native bush wasn't viewed as a benign darling to be protected. It was an ancient and mysterious colossus defiant.
