❤❤😂 😂 Remember my Dad used took me to the movies with him when I was a little girl! The shadows music were in the movies! It should be more than 30 Years now (2024)!😮😮. Thank you very much to have the chance to watch them on UA-cam!😊😊
The Strange e Kon Ti Ki è bel Medley che fa piacere rivedere con la stupenda musica degli Shadows . Hank Marvin con il Suo look e sorriso fa emozionare particolarmente quando sorridente guarda nella camera..
The first time I heard Kon Tiki was while visiting on a US Navy ship docked in Greenoch, Scotland. The year was '61 or '62 and the flip side of the 45 was Apache. I also discovered Helen Shapiro and bought an LP. An exciting time for R & R in the UK and the US and WOW the best was yet to come.
My Mam played in the streets of Elswick, Newcastle with Hank and Bruce when they were kids, the place was a dump but they done very well for themselves and great guitarists.
THE SHADS part of my youth, they made so many kids pick up a guitar...they make it look SOO easy but it aint!!!! they have this unique sound that no one -else can get 100%...hank marvin legend!!!!!
I view shads vids all the time so keep posting. I started playing guitar because of Apache (the 1975 release) and returned to the guitar after a long absence because I attended the final tour (edinburgh) in 2004.
Look again more closely. The small lead from the guitar's jack socket is fixed to the guitar strap before plugging into the Transmitter unit fixed at the back of the guitarist. 30 ft leads snaking across the Stage, then plugging into a 30 watt Amplifier went out of fashion years ago.
Hank B. should be signed up as a walking, talking advert for all the amazing sweet guitar sounds that can be extracted from that great instrument, The Strat. Rock music wouldn't be the same without Leo Fender's supremo invention ; and Stratocasters wouldn't be as famous as they are, without the great Hank B. playing them to great acclaim .. for several decades now ...
One of the things I feel often gets missed when you talk about the shadows and all the focus falls on Hank and he's the best at this style; but it always seems that Bruce Welch's fantastic rythm playing is overlooked. Watch him work, he is often putting in little single note fills. But his rythm playing !! I don't know of anyone better or as good. Except perhaps Tommy Emanuelle with his brother Phil when they do shadows tunes.Watch Bruce's work in "The Savage" for instance. Wonderful!
hank marvin even beats the gutarists of today hands down............he is a legend.......................there shall always be only one "hank marvin"........nobody can replace him ever!!!!!!
immaculate as ever - after all that's been and gone you have to go back and admit they did something special. Have you seen the Showdaz-a group of french guys from Dijon doing a note perfect copy and showing how people everywhere loved this stuff
I have got the original 45 single of this and the composers are on there too, but not alot of people know that! They might get to know more if info is available to be picked up by internet search engines. Big Figure Band (on youtube ) with their version of The Stranger do mention it their info. Quite a good perfomance it is too!.
Composers are often left off the credits. The Stranger was written by Morgan "Thunderclap" Jones and Bill Crompton. Perhaps you could put them on your tags and mention this in your introduction.
your not wrong. I read he gets no hassle in Perth when he goes out. he can sit in restaurants etc. I dont know if its true. He can never escape the hits he had with the lads. But they made him what he is and gave him a good lifestyle. Maybe getting hassle does get on your nerves in the end
sorry but i cant agree 1th its NOT Jet Harris ,its mark Griffith on Bass 2th its a quality Piece even purist, imho their allways should be small differences in their music otherwise it would getting a bit boring ;)
Yeaaaaahh i love Hank...by the way...he resembles to Bill Gates...and his birthday IS THE SAME, 28 October...do i have to believe in astrology? Hank is THE BEST, i don´t care about Bill...Great!

Coverman73, You are obviously NOT a purist otherwise you would have complained about the general poor playing and crappy guitar sound by Hank. No Meazzi echo = no cigar Hank. By 1989 10,000 guitarist could play this stuff and better as well. This is just dreary old music.
I really admire the smiling face of Hank Marvin everytime he plays his guitar, i am blown away.

The best guitar sound of my generation!

I love the Shadows sound. Thanks for sharing the video. It reminds me of my high school days.
The Stranger is my Shadows favourite. A mindblower!
My Mam played in the streets of Elswick, Newcastle with Hank and Bruce when they were kids, the place was a dump but they done very well for themselves and great guitarists.

I can't imagine what I will do with that information, but thanks a bunch, I think!

@guitaaress i agree my dad always told me from a little boy, thats him above in response
Anyway Hank looks young now too and i have no idea why he ran off to Perth. We want them all back NOW. ( those still kicking)
The bridge that Hank does on Kon tiki where he plays hamony notes is superb I think he hits a wrong note there in the original recording

Maybe he wanted a different climate. I've heard England is very rainy.
