Agree, the binding event could be dreadful for beginners (and not only… I’ve been with this craft for several years already). For quite a time I used no-sew binding method (gluing pages using paper of fabric hinges), but gradually switched to soft covers and SINGLE signatures in them (I make the covers from each and every bubble wrap packaging coming into my house, covering them with fabric, taping on the inside and gluing fabric/paper inside to cover all the mess). With that I indeed got away without any templates and the sewing is now fast, accurate, and enjoyable. But I often want 2 or more signatures. Now I decided to explore other cheating methods - so that I still bind one signature per cover but the covers are joined and I have a nice fat journal at the end. Bi-folds, concertinas, etc.

😂😂😂 oh, I must me mad but I did it just an hours ago and my fingers are now covered in band aids from the needles pricks. There was a lot of swearing involved, too. But the journal looks amazing 😂😂😂
