We also did cherry wood in our dream home. I think we used a black walnut stain but it’s been 10 years ago. The Amish built all our custom cabinets throughout. Love them.
Man. Just a few short years ago he was so shy and quiet in front of the MIC. She did all the talking. Now look at him. LOVE you content bud, glad you broke out of your shell.
Oooooo that frosty white! :) Can't wait to see these go up! When I do the big kitchen reno on my place (3-5 years out if I keep everything on schedule!), I might do this instead of building my own. Like you, I really enjoy building my own cabinetry, but when you've got an entire rest of the house to work on sometimes its nice to have someone else do some parts!
When I used to build homes custom cabinets were just that. A company came and measured after drywall was finished. The took measurements back and built the cabinets in there shop. And they didn't cost much more than box cabinets or todays RTA cabinets. Things change over time.
We got our cabinets from Home Depot in flat boxes and had to assemble them also. They just went together with those cheap cam locks and had a white melamine finish. After 22yrs, they still look like new but it was not fun putting them together !
You do everything great n Jamie also ...but ...today I got the best LOL for along time ...LOVED your pacman n all the music inserts as well.... How long did it take you to all these cabinets that look so great ...ps. agree with you on type of quality n price !!! Thanks 4 all your vlogs on the house !!! Better the real cherry wood...you will really like it n seems it's well worth the price ...geeze that company goes not only that extra mile BUT SOUNDS LIKE THEY WENT THOUSANDS OF EXTRA MILES FOR THEIR CUSTIMERS !!!
Don't we all need friends like that and I was so tired after fast speed film on unloading all of that stuff I think that you both no matter what project you and your sweety are working on the house you keep end vision in sight reach out your hands your almost there I'm here waiting
What were the quotes you received from the custom woodworkers? How did that compare in price to what you installed? I really enjoy homebuilding projects... thanks for sharing!
IKEA uses MDF extensively. I assure you these cabinets are more than just a couple of notches above the quality of IKEA and they are custom. BLUM is good, no doubt. That's why the Cabinet Joint uses them too.
@@pnwester2697 MDF is stable and doesn't expand and contract like plywood does. Not saying it's better, but it has it's place. Also RTA cabinets start at 3x the price for basic cabinets and you certainly don't get 3x the quality...
@@pnwester2697 Agreed.. They are not "high quality" but they are not low quality either. Their boxes and hardware are great, their doors are lacking, but you can easily make your own (which I have done).. I used some nice Baltic Birch panels and cleared them.. Added BLUM door openers to the frames for a seamless look (no handles).. Not a single RTA could match it for what I did it for.. And most of the RTA companies are just resellers selling Amish or Mennonite production built boxes and doors.. Nothing custom about it..
Can't downvote this comment hard enough. Very interested in the RTA cabinets as I've seen multiple homestead channels do it with fantastic results. OP should rethink their life.
I am guessing you just found this channel and this is your first vid. Why don't you wade through some of their earlier content? Your questions will be answered and I bet your impression will change.

Another great video with so much information on what sounds like an amazing company! Can't wait to see these babies go together!

Whoohoo! This is what makes a house a home! So excited to see this come together.
That looks like an amazing amount of work but we know you can do it, Jeremy.
Looking forward to watching you put it together. Thanks for sharing
Excellent video…you’re a very good teacher.
Glad it was helpful!
Oooo! All that assembly. I loooove assembling stuff. Looking forward to the next vid!

You did a great job on this video!
Awe man! Couldn't see the fireplace corner. 🤣
Great info! I wish I would have known about this company when I was redoing my kitchen.
I am so excited to see you putting them together Jeremy!! 😂😁😀
Be careful what you wish for. It’s over an hour long video. 😳

well done.
Glad you found a reliable RTA company for the cabinets. I've heard some horror stories.
Most of them are pretty bad.
Nice 👍👍 advice bud 👍👍👍👍
Great video thanks again
Jeremy this Cabinet assembly process should be interesting to follow! Hope Jamie is doing okay?
please confirm you first bought your kitchen appliances so you knew their widths, before measuring for the cabinets?
Correct. Appliances first, then design cabinets around that.
I install kitchens and am interested in your idea of you assembling them vs. pre assembled. How much cheaper can the be un assembled?
Do I understand that correctly? White doors on stained cabinets?
No. Perimeter cabinets are all white. Island is stained wood.
What was your total cost?
What's the price difference between this and like ikea
When I priced out RTA vs Ikea the RTA supplier quote was almost 3x...
What were the quotes you received from the custom woodworkers? How did that compare in price to what you installed?

This way was about 15% less, and I prefer the way these are consistently made.
What was the program you used to design the house?

Now getting to the home stretch. just saying
gas vs electric v induction? for cooktop & oven -which one did you choose and why? thanks
Gas cooktop and electric convection oven
@@Guildbrookfarm great combo!
MDF when I worked in a mill I found MDF the worst material I have ever worked with. Do not get it wet without sealing the MDF.
Correct. It’s already sealed and painted when it arrives.
Wanted to ask you what software did you use to design your house? Thanks and love the progress from Day 1
Chief Architect
glazed or gloss? is there a difference btw the 2?
Glaze is a translucent top coat of a contrasting color.
Ikea kitchen cabinets are probably the best cabinets you can get for the money. They are made in USA with BLUM hardware..

okey, have followed you the whole way, but this was your worst video.
This cabinet series isn’t for everyone.
Feels like they are turning into ads, vs a DIY home build.. I get they want the sponsors to lower their costs, but at the sacrifice of the viewers..

These people work hard for their money. They live on a farm. The farm name is Guidbrook. There are no animals. Enjoy the build.
