It's cuz we know how much a dollar can stretch when you travel around the world!
your explanation of your financial mindset in college is exactly how mine has been for the past 2.5 years😭 but budgeting is helping me SO much with accepting that i have to and will spend certain amounts each month. so instead of me feeling suuuper guilty about buying a $4 latte, i'll buy the latte and then think okay i now have $26 left to spend on coffee/bakeries this month. it's working really well for me and i highly suggest it to anyone else who's strapped for cash!
YES love this!!! Budgeting is an absolute game changer
do you use any apps or have any tips? :)
danae depends on how much you like excel haha! if you want to keep it super simple and effortless, use the app mint. it lets you create budgets for categories and categorize your expenses. but if you want something more customizable, you could create your own excel spreadsheet or download one from online. i suggest creating categories for all your expenses (i have 10 for reference) and deciding on monthly budgets for all of them. make it realistic because if the budgets are too low, it's not gonna help with the whole unhealthy mentality elena was talking about. and i suggest tracking your expenses but that can be pretty tedious
@@ashtonfaith thank you!!
ashton ua-cam.com/video/a5rD1KnvehE/v-deo.html
I’m very impressed with your ability to eat & drink coffee at home!! That’s my biggest problem lmao frickin starbucks
starbucks ruins my life lol
Go to the Moma Design Store (go to their website if you're not in NYC) and look for the SOMA Brew Bottle. Thank me later lol
tiffanyferg her home coffee actually looked so good
*SAME*
Ever since i bought espresso machine, i was able to not go as much to starbucks! lifesaver!
It sounds like you're living a really balanced NY life, you gotta live and enjoy yourself especially at your age! (though i'm only in my early 30's.....lol).
I wish I spent more money on experiences and good food when I was in my 20's instead of things!
I can't believe you only spend $281 dollars.. I've watched other youtubers spend $3000 in a week when they did this video!! Insanity!! Would love it if you could do a budgetting video/ financial advice :) Also curious as to what you do with the money you don't spend; do you save everything? Invest in stocks? Or something else?
probably doesnt include rent nyc average rent is 4200
dude, I spend 200€ a month or so wtf XD
thereddog223 well if u live in a cheap apartment in a place someone wouldnt wanna live its cheaper
giiiirl two mondays in a row that's intense :)
hahah WHOOPS
hahaha yes i noticed as well
Two mondays a week sounds like actual hell
lol I saw that too I was like OMG that’s rough
Seem very grown up for 22.
the most reasonable what i spend in a week i've ever seen
I love seeing this! In a world of fast fashion and "buy now, spend more", it is great to see people my own age who can take a step back and be comfortable with analyzing where their money is going, and then investing it in things that last (Roth IRA, real groceries lol, etc)
Yes girl. You’re videos have always inspired me to be more self-aware of my money and just lifestyle in general. Love it.
I'm in my 4th year of college, and went to a new city. I worked all summer to have some money on the side, but I basically only use it for groceries and stuff like that. And like you, I kinda feel guilty when I spend that money on t-shirts, or more "random" things. But immediatly when I moved in my appartment, I started budgeting, and it helped sooooooo much with feeling less guilty about spendind money on things that I enjoy (like Christmas decor or notebooks) ! Anyways, great video as always ! Keep up the good work ! ♥
Loved hearing your thoughts on money! I recently started to keep a money dairy and it’s great to see your spending all on paper, it can really add up!
Love this video! I like how u explained why u were spending each, but I hope u don’t feel like u have to necessarily justify it to us. Girl if u r making that coin, don’t feel guilty for spending it!
I love this video! Really puts into perspective how much life in NYC costs, and how we can budget better here! I’m a student in NYC and am always trying to find ways to save $$.
You're 22 and already doing so much. Wow ❤
Love from India and here I'm about to be 24 and i still have to take permission for everything from my parents. We are way behind I guess to just go out of the house and get our own house and thinking to settle in NY is like the craziest dream to think of, not that we can't do it, but need a lot of money and all to just go for it.
i've been binge watching your videos for the last two days since I am almost finishing my finances degree and I stumbled upon this one and the concert, the friends and dinks and bars just made me so so so nostalgic and happy and the same time🥺
watching this in 2021 makes me miss pre-pandemic life😩
I've watched a few of these and I must say I'm impressed by your spending habits. Most others I've watched spend way more! I love how you eat from home a lot. You seem like you have a good handle on your finances. :)
Girl. That is great. You are actually really good with your money. Proud of ya. Keep up with the good job.
The little fish are dried anchovies! They’re tasty on white rice!
Elena is one of the most genuine youtuber I can find!
Yes! Been looking forward to this one!
your hair looks so soft & pretty!
I'd love for this to be an occurring series on your channel! Thank you for your content. I hope you had a happy Thanksgiving!
Tall, frugal but will splurge on music ----- SOUL SISTER (also you look phenomenal in that lilac jumper, your eyes look incredible)!
ahahah yesss you sound like my kind of gal
*I always enjoy watching g these videos even though I’d never do one cause I’m broke af ! But it’s just fun watching these*
this is soooo helpful! I'm 23 and possibly preparing to move for grad school , so this is giving me a good perspective on what life would sortttta be like on my own :)
I love her when she said she do invest in health insurance and retirement, everyone should be like her
She is seriously beautiful.
So are you
I love your hair styled like that!! It threw me off when I saw it at first. Love your videos!!!
ahahahah yay thank you!
love this Elena!!!💖🌟
I love this video! Can you make this a regular thing? Like once a month or something. It reminds me of Money Diaries from Refinery 29 and I love reading those.
Omg yes I love Refinery 29 videos so much
I liked all your outfits in this video, Elena. Great Video!
thanks for being so transparent. ive been considering moving to nyc after college but the cost of living scares me. your vlogs have made it seem more doable
very relatable nyc week, great video!
we have similar outlooks on spending
I was actually going to comment on your hair and then you referenced it! It looks great!
love your hair like that!
Nice to see someone else as frugal as I am :D SOmetimes I do think I limit myself too much but at the same time at other times I can buy things and experiences I really really like even if they are a bit expensive because I have money saved up.
Both Graham Stephan and I are proud of the homemade avocado toast 🥑 and 20 cent coffees ☕️ great video ✨
hahaha I am honored!
I loved the hair at the end!!! 🔝🔝🔝
In my 20s I was all about travel and concerts, I don't regret a thing.
i rarely watch new youtubers but ur cool af. v down to earth, and i like NY youtubers instead of la lmao. and u budget so well! go off queen
It is great to know that we don't need to spend so much money on basic things in NY! It makes me have some hope of living there someday! 😁🤗
I budgeted so strictly in my 20s, now at the end of them I can enjoy my discipline!
4/5 on the Cheap Scale!
Great job and great video!
I love your hair half up!!
love this topic!
I’m pretty impressed by how frugal you are. Good job being financially responsible :)
this was the best video i saw in this trend, it was so realistic rather others being like oh i spent 20000 dollars a week
that’s definetely a lot of money! NY is so expensive. I live in Santiago de Chile and 281 USD is basically a month of rent. Living by myself on a student budget I spend 20-25 dollars weekly.
so so fun!!!!! also your hair at the end is cute:~)
Hello , can u do everyday makeup routine please 🥺🖤 ur makeup is so beautiful
Today I explore and got the best Vlog.. I love to watch and comment your videos. Your are such a skillful and resourceful personality. You should be in UNWTO to encourage others.
any chance you will be filming a hair tutorial sometime in the future? just loved your hairstyle in the intro part :)
Love your hair like that !
heheh phew thank you!
may ask where your top is from that you wore on thursday? i love it!!
MY BUDGET QUEEN
Love this
thank you for the realness honestly
im moving out soon and itll be my first time having to pay for everything myself im kinda nervous
this is so cutie!! scared to see what mine would be lol
rewatching this video so i can like it
You look gorgeous!!!!
$281 turn into mexican pesos is $5,620!! wow, that´s a lot for a week hehe glad i live in México City :) cute vid!
i would love an update on this for 2023.
you introduced me to Johnny Utah and now Im obsessed !!
AHHH love johnny! he was my most listened to artist on the year!
@@ElenaTaber hopefully he will perform in Canada soon 🇨🇦
Wow so pretty!
I realize this video is about a year old, but I'm curious where to find that sweater from Thursday with the red scalloped edges ❤️ it's precious!
would be curious to see how you set out your own finances spreadsheet :)
Has anyone ever said you're a doppelgänger of Simone Giertz??? It's uncanny!
how do you organize your spreadsheet for spending? super interested in trying that! :)
I think the air plane food you ate was anchovies lmao that's why 😂
I was kinda shocked hearing about the concert lol then I remembered this was before miss Rona
How do you style your hair? or is it naturally styled like this?
i live/work in manhattan and i REALLY try to spend less than $1200 per month. i spend $1500 even on rent/utilities which is wayyy too much for my liking
I love your rings! where are they from?
Where is your jewelry you're wearing at the end of the video from?
I'm 21 year old and struggled with budgetting. UGHHH. But hearing your method imma give it a try.
Struggled with budgetting = I ALWAYS EAT OUT EVEN IN BREAKFAST!!! 😭
Wheeeere is gorgeous striped sweater with the red trim from????
That’s pretty good, I spent roughly 1.5k on avg per week
Hi Elena! Do you have any other jobs or side hustles outside of youtube? :) I wasn't sure if this is your full-time job!
is this including all your monthly expenses you mentioned at the start? if it is that is so cheap wow
Wait, how much do you pay your personal assistant, who brought you coffee? Shouldn’t that be part of your expenses?
HollyGShoe maybe she’s an unpaid intern?
I love that blue mug you have, where is it from?
I don't know why but I feel so strange that we are the same age haha
SocialMonkii same haha
Saaaaaame
are you sure you can't bring in food to the wing? like lowkey bring it (lol movie theatre sneak in). like do they actually enforce this and kick you out?
I could probably be sneak it :) they def wouldn't kick you out or anything like that
you’re so so so beautiful!!! i love watching your videos so much. wish we could be friends irl :(
Literally can’t believe you’re the SAME age as me that’s mad
I don’t think I woulda graduated without Chegg
Super reasonable amount for living in nyc. I saw a couple of videos of people from Los Angles and their asses spend like $2,000 a week.. smfh. One 26 year old girl I watch spent $22,000 a MONTH (she’s a homeowner) I couldn’t believe it.
Where are your 2 gold coin necklaces from that you are wearing in the end? I’m in love🤩
ooo I'll add them to the description! One is from Daisy London and one is from Gorjana
Elena Taber thank you so much!!
Did anyone else get confused when it said Monday 2x? Ha
Namdo yes omg was waiting for Elena to correct it to Tuesday
where are your snake earrings from!!!!
Thanks 💋💋💋
I’ve been lusting over the wing on Instagram for ages but they’re not near enough for me 😭 super jealous you’re a member haha is it as good as everyone says?
It's honestly pretty great! It's been such a lifesaver for me to have a space to work and meet other like minded women!
Where did you get those snake earrings?
Ty
you're so pretty!!!
why are her views down so much? I've been watching since she lived in cali and I srsly don't get why she's less popular
Claire Sunsten I personally think part of it could be that her audience doesn’t relate to her videos anymore. I watched every single video of hers when she was in college because I also am in college but majority of her recent videos are not relatable to me. Could be like that for others too
@@peachesonmybelly I agree. I used to love her college videos but now I just don't find them as interesting / relatable. Of course her travel vlogs are gorgeous but I feel like they are more fun to make and experience as a vlogger than it is just to watch on UA-cam. It isn't very enjoyable for me to watch someone else's vacation.. especially when that's 80% of their content ...
What was the reason for your trip to Korea? Just out of the blue like that. Or was it for business?
