Love how honest you were on this one. The kit looks great, but I'm not sure if compromising the buttons, water resistance, etc, is worth the looks.
I’ve ended up gluing the case back on. Not ideal but has now allowed me to wear it.
Well done for telling us what happened after filming, such a shame 😢! It does look an excellent kit, but I think they should forget the fake crown and keep four buttons, having to use that tool to operate the left buttons is ridiculous, trying to use the stop watch or adjust the timer is going to be impossible on wrist 👎
Agreed. I did not think much about that until I actually tried to use those buttons.
Devestated. You can maybe 'tap' the broken screws out , like when your working on a car and you snap a bolt in the head.
It looked pretty sweet on the first go.
They are completely cactus 😢.
But simple, yet effective solution, I glued the case back on.
I might just have an issue when the battery runs out 😳
@WATCHingJames Thats funny mate ! I could *feel* that frustration with taking it apart and together again *X 4* . You should get 10yrs out of the battery though. Just flip it.
Take your time and try to remove the snapped screws. For sure there is a way to get it fixed. 💪🏻
The rubber strap in the kit is the style I buy for my Casioaks. You can get them easy enough and they fit the official resin (GA) or metal (GM) Casio cases. Quick release spring bars. Too easy.
Butterfly clasps are a bit hit or miss for comfort - SKXMOD metal straps are a work of art, but I'd want a micro adjust clasp tbh
@@sp8562 I just buy the ones off AE. 'shenzhen hengdili Store' sell several colours in pin buckle or butterfly clasp. There are probably lots of sellers.
Sorry about the broken screws. I always wanted to do this, but I wasn’t sure how it would fit after. But after seeing it on your wrist I know it will fit great. I’ll just be careful with the screws. 😉 Thanks for showing us the mod!
I think I became a little impatient at the end and rushed.
A hard lesson to learn. But just need to go slower next time.
The result looks really great. What a pity you broke it.🕐⚙️🍸
It was a disappointing end. But my own fault.
I have ended up gluing the case back on. Not ideal. But has allowed me to wear it.
James that looked Oarsum!
How thick is the final case?
Pity about the screws, maybe SKX Mod will help?
Production note:
What about using the mic you use for the inspection table for your talking to camera shots?
I get the room echo in stereo when you face camera…
I’ve ended up just glueing the case back on. Not ideal but it has now allowed me to wear the watch.
It is 11mm thick
Sound continues to be a hard one to get right.
I am working on it but am also aware that I’m not a professional and it’s ok not to be perfect.
@@WATCHingJames True. 👍🏻JB sell a Saramonic BT clip on mic for $99… might help?
Enjoyed the video
But not sure i like this mod
I appreciate you had to take watch apart several times but can't believe screws broke so easily as the kit was rather pricey would expect better quality screws.
Keep up the good work
I definitely blame me more than the kit. I started to rush at the end as I was getting a little impatient.
Not ideal but a good lesson to learn. Slow down
SKXMOD: please make a kit for the GM-S5600 38mm square. All these mods are too large for me😢
Interested in the case size, as the ones from Ali are huge for the GA series watches. Lug to lug wise.
51.8mm. But there is a lot of down turn making that figure feel better on wrist.
I have a 17cm wrist and it sits ok. But i think I am on the limit of size. So if your wrist is smaller I don’t think I would recommend it.
James! How strong are you fella? Breaking screws is heart breaking, and really difficult to remove without damage to the case. I thought about buying this mod, as I already have the much cheaper previous version, but I'd want 4 pushers not the 2 and 2 recessed. Also, can you do a review of the Casio GMB2100 as that's the factory metal 2100, and the price of the mod kit + donor watch is probably too close. Appreciate your honesty, and was looking forward to a review of the final item - the lug to lug looks huge...
It was definitely a disappointing end. But I’ve come back to it now and just ended up gluing the caseback on.
Not the ideal thing to do.
But is now allowing me to wear it.
Think it would better to get the casioak plus the kit or just shell out for the full metal casioak?
That’s a good question.
The quality of this kit is outstanding and probably cheaper than the full metal Casio.
But you do have to put it together yourself and have that odd button set up.
Oh, and as the digital display on the 2100 is so SMALL and virtually unreadable, maybe a magnification window or domed sapphire? Am I showing my age?
It is definitely small.
I just keep it on the date and don’t bother using the other features.
Interesting video .... if it wasn't for the highly irritating drums.
What on earth made you think that was a good idea?
Shame, I was looking forward to seeing the finished item. It does look very well made but the removable crown to operate the buttons is a recipe for disaster.
It was a really fun build. But then I started to rush. Not a great outcome. But definitely my own fault.
That's a ripoff for a Casioak mod. I've heard of bad screws on these kits before, so not necessarily your fault. For a third of the price there are better alternatives. I have that same bracelet on mine. It's from China.
It is the only one I’ve tried.
I’ll have to look for other options to try too.
Thanks for WATCHing
