An identical 'story' was told about an alien child (from an alien family residing at Area 51, Nevada); who snuck out at night to play tic-tac-toe in the sand with the night watchman (a human, guarding the military base). When the 'alien Mom' found out, she followed the child out one night, erased the game in the sand, and forbid them to interact. Thr storys details were near-exactly the same: the childs giggles, footprints, game in sand, etc. except it took place near the guards shack.
I live in upstate NY and have seen giant turtles twice in my lifetime so far. One in a dyke system on a muck farm was at least ten feet from side to side. But the huge head was rounded so not a snapping turtle. I never worked in the water again. ...

To the person who disappeared for hours at their grandmother’s home: you were abducted by the entities that flashed the light at you. I had this happen to me years ago. I was missing for about six hours and my friends could not find me. I woke up in the same place I was when I was last aware. I’m certain it was an alien abduction and I’ve wanted to undergo hypnosis to try and remember the experience.
My family & I refuse to enter any national/state parks, woods, forests, deserts, or mountains! Too many strange & unexplained things happening to people. Think about: Dogman, Big Foot, Moth man, Goat man, Wendigo, Skin Walker, Wraith, alien encounters, & open portals to other dimensions. Possibilities exist where people have gone off trail, fallen off cliffs, attacked by predators (bears, wolves, coyotes, etc), injuries, over exposure to the elements, dehydration, starvation, and so on. Other sinister things to consider are: Serial killers, cults/ satanic worship, human sacrifice, canabilism, & sickos who enjoy hunting humans for sport!
I’ve experienced some REALLY strange things in my life time. The only ones that I ever tell however are the two that happened with family. One was me and my brother, the other me and my cousin. I can’t tell them without getting huge goosebumps all over. I’m getting them now just thinking about the brother one. Shit was fucked up. There’s so much more to this life than we understand.

The story from Athens, Ohio was very interesting to me! There is quite a few videos on UA-cam about an old lunatic asylum that is said to be haunted. If you type in Athens Lunatic asylum in the search bar you can see what I'm talking about. My husband and I are about 30 minutes from Cincinnati and I was thinking about going there and checking it out for ourselves. Just thought maybe someone would be interested.

I saw a turtle about a quarter of the size of a VW at Table Rock Dam. I never got in that water again.

The creatures appear to be menacing, but I've never read about one killing, or even harming someone. The main observers of these critters seem to be lonely solo hikers, exploring the trails deep inside our national parks. But let's set aside all the folderol and answer a few questions. Hikers, like 99.9% of the U.S. population, have cell phones. That means they have cameras. So why haven't we seen at least one full-frame cell phone picture of one of these creatures? I think it's because all the stories we've been hearing are just fru-fru and piffle.
