  • Aliens Dark Descent Players MUST KNOW These Tips - Aliens Dark Descent Tips and Tricks. In this video we are going through some tips that I've picked up from playing more of the game as I've covered tips before. This Aliens Dark Descent guide will cover stuff that the game doesn't tell you, things you might overlook and just general Aliens Dark Descent tips after making mistakes playing the game myself.
Everyone must know the stuff mentioned in the video as it will make your time much easier as Aliens Dark Descent does get really tough really quickly and your marines aren't to be messed around with. High level marines will be beneficial to completing objectives and any of your marines can be killed by facehuggers or abducted and killed by the bigger drones. Let me know your thoughts about Aliens Dark Descent in the comments below :D

The biggest tip to give this game is to use indirect methods to deal with xenos. The apc gun and the sentry guns do not cause hunts. If you combine this quirk with the fact that placed beacons can lure large parts of the level to one spot. you can effectively lure huge amounts of the ambient enemies into death traps.

To add to this, place ambuse mines and sentry guns outside rooms of sleeping xenos and eggs. Send the drone in to make noise waking them, when they walk out boom.

I've platinumed the game and have some advice, especially if you're going for a Nightmare completion.
~ The campaign death clock does not start until you reach Mission 6, the Atmospheric Processor. Make the absolute most out of the luxury of having multiple deployments until this point.
If that means taking another squad of marines into a location to gather missed resources then do it.
~ You should have two complete fire-teams ready by the time you reach Mission 6 and get the APC.
Make use of multiple deployments before the death clock starts to level up two squads of marines rather than have all your experience front-loaded into one squad.
~ Always, and I mean always, have a Recon with a silenced sniper rifle in both squads. Being able to navigate locations with less detections is major, especially on Nightmare difficulty where Xenos are very dangerous and Hive aggressiveness gains quickly.
~ Make use of the Tecker's Tactical Drone (don't bother upgrading it to Battle Drone, all it will do is waste ammo on higher difficulties), it's an excellent asset.
It can be used to provoke Stasis Drones and Facehuggers into waiting Sentry Guns, avoiding a detection.
~ On a similar note, place Motion Trackers by the ARC/APC whenever it is moved. Luring Xenos into it is a very effective way of saving ammo and avoiding detections.
~ Get in the habit of leaving Motion Trackers everywhere on the map.
~ Activating a Motion Tracker during a Hunted phase will get Xenos off your trail fast.
~ Do not sleep on Suppressive Fire, it will literally save your life on Nightmare when Xenos have a lot of HP and you need to slow them down before they get to your squad.
~ If you have to fight, plan ahead if you can and try have space behind you to move backwards while firing. Keep distance from Xenos until you get the Acid Resistant Gel on Pioneer Station.
~ If you have to fight KEEP MOVING but DO NOT RUN until all Xenos are down. Keep moving to avoid Xenos immobilising your marines.
~ Use the Flamethrower to stop Xenos flanking your squad, also use it to cover doorways and force Xenos to literally crawl through fire to get to you.
~ Prioritise your XenoTech. I'd say the following are mandatory for deployments where you're looking to make major progress.
    - Chitin Kevlar
    - Acid Resistance Gel
    - Hive Jammer
    - Hive Tranquilizer
    - Pheromones
~ Do not bother wasting 10 XenoSamples on the Extraction Device. If you lost marines to Facehuggers you fucked up and should just reload a save.
Save scumming I know but the deck is already heavily stacked against you on Nightmare as it is.
~ Weld up and use Safe Rooms often. Shit can go bad very quickly on Nightmare so save your progress often.

One other tip that I would recommend is to not sleep on the suppressive fire ability. When you have a bunch of enemies or even just one coming at you, it can be a big help. It can even slow down the queen's charge to a crawl, giving you enough time to cause serious damage to her before she reaches the squad.

Mines only cost renewable command points. If you're having trouble dropping three mines in a line from a spawn point really helps. Also good is mining choke points and cross tunnels that the swarm has to go through to get to you across the map. Bonus points if you set up a tracker, overload it, and have put it in a minefield. Set up smart guns to cover the likely route of any bosses across your minefield.

Playing on Nightmare difficulty is really challenging, and makes you use every skill you have to turn the tide. I slept on Suppressive Fire for my Normal playthrough, but Nightmare would be absolutely impossible without it. Same with flares. Don’t over-rely on grenade launchers, damage consistence and avoidance are the name of the game.

    • @nightyonetwothree
      @nightyonetwothree Рік тому

i find nightmare kinda ~average difficulty in other game, not really hard. Just dont rush, start with stealth, stack turrets and place flares for hard encounters, block pathing with fire, maybe add supression (yet very rarely as i dont want to spend extra ammo for -accuracy). Got to 7th mission, 1 run every mission (unless scripted to deploy 2nd time) with rotation of ~9 marines, fully explored and all alive etc. Kinda says it's not that hard for 1st playthrough on nightmare.
What game actually didnt say are:
      1. technic and medic classes are totaly useless, while sergeant is extremely broken with lvl6 ability.
      2. there will be timer later, so maybe it will be better to slow my progression early on to balance squads better (see p.1).
So if i started it again - i'll try get all novices to 3 level to exclude medics and techs from rotation (exp), stacking sergeants (+ability spam, -stress) and heavies (+++aim) with few scouts (stealth kills, visors).

@@thewhitemonkey64 taking damage is very rare and usually a mistake or scripted heavy encounter. So just dont get hurt and if gotten - use medkit. And +15 accuracy on heavies and extra slow on supression alrdy lower aliens' ability to hurt you. While sergeants with extra command points limit and regeneration provide you with extra tools also. Even scout is much weaker then serg or heavy, but stealth shot and visors are great to get to objectives with lowest agression possible (mostly from scripted encounters).

There are minor issues with your squad mouthing off if you pause for five seconds and the game trying too hard to invoke the exact dialog of the movie (it does a fine job of emulating the universe and tone without resorting to such nonsense). It needs music. Periods of this game are super quiet (like launching from your ship). But. It's a fine game. Very exciting. Well done missions. Decent UI. Some fugly character models and stupid audio can't hold these marines back. You won't be disappointed.

in the reactor mission dont save the marine trapped in one of the rooms he is a cultist and will sabotage the Ortego's generator it gives 3 options
Option A: Suspend the work of all engineers and doctors for 1 day and waste 1 day. This is the least painful solution and i recommend choosing it.
Option B: Lose one of the marines. The game will choose one of the characters with the highest experience level. i do not recommend this option because every levelled-up marine is invaluable.
Option C: Waste 1 day and take a risk that the event can reoccur. This is also a bad idea, because the risk is high and it may turn out that you've unnecessarily wasted 1 day.

This game is fun even tho performance is a bit of hit or miss. loving this game both on pc and S-deck. i am glad this is not turn based game that i hate to the ends of the earth than its a real time strategy action game.

They should call it Aliens: sneak around and die, die, die.

It starts relatively easy?. I felt it started hard got Easy then got hard due to the level design in the later half

Oh my gosh I hated the design of the last level
Every room felt like I had no room, and I constantly was draining health, no matter what I did

I agree with this. I try a self-imposed challenge of 1-daying every mission. And Day 1 is the absolute hardest. The first crusher fight then that dreaded mine? With lvl1 marines? BRUTAL.

@@MrSmexyPain thats what im doing now, in the mines its hard to find room with only 1 door to weld shut and rest.

@@Soldier_Sean I don't think there is one. You need to rest before going down into the mine... then just accept that you'll be leaving the mine on 1 or 2 stages of stress.
ESPECIALLY if you plan to carry that stupid doctor from the cocoon out with you.

@@MrSmexyPain I just got up to that part with cocoons where i have to rescue people and i got bombarded by so many aliens that i died.

I dont like this game. Its about stealth yet aliens spawn at random places and do random patrols but always around my squad. So stealth is broken. And if they detect me all aliens from whole map go for me...Its just pure BS game.

Hey its totally fine if you dont like the game. A few systems that really help to alleviate the patrols is planting motion sensors everywhere on your trail so later when in a pinch you can overload it and cause noise and planting mines everywhere in patrols to thin out enemies and prevent them from spotting you
