@@SimBol1216 dude, there's a video here of that scene, behind the scene, go look it up, Bryan Cranston literally helped her to her feet and into the house set..🙄
This scene is powerful on a rewatch when you realize just how close their family was at the beginning of the show. Walter and Hank are such good friends that Hank’s partner is at his birthday party and they casually invite him on a ride along to see them at work. Walt mentioned that he’s been to the DEA Christmas parties and all of Hank’s coworkers pitch in to donate money for his cancer treatment. He’s a little bit of an odd person, but I imagine that Hank always bragged about how smart his brother in law was. Hank and Walter Jr are really close too and he gives him life lessons for his own good. He treats him like a son.
Yes its very VERY tragic. Walt might have gotten his family millions but not only are they traumatized and broken, they also lost Hank who could have been the perfect father figure to both Flynn and Holly after Walt's death. Walt really should have stopped after his first transaction with Gus, he had more or less the amount of money that he calculated his family needed (737k) then
The ultimate irony of Walt is that he already did have the things he wanted at the beginning of the series, and only went to lose of all of it through his own actions. Everyone in his family and friend circle loved and respected him, but he threw it away.
@@TheShanicpower The first episode of breaking bad was supposed to show how Walt's life is emasculated though tbh I had trouble understanding that. Yea he has a crappy job as a teacher and car attendant, but a lot of ppl work jobs they don't like just to support their family. Even Hank doesn't truly despise Walter, just saw him as harmless (nothing wrong with that.) There's also Skylar who seems to be more decisive out of the 2 (though she could've put her laptop aside to focus more on her husband, and for Walt's part, he could've communicated to Skylar about putting the laptop away and focus on him during his bday). In the grand scheme of things, there's nothing wrong with that. Walt has the desire to be seen as a man of his house and respected for his chemistry abilities. With that being said, Walt actually could've had all of that when Elliott and Gretchen offered him to work at Gray Matter again.
This scene encapsulate perfectly the meaning of the whole show. It finally stops to sugarcoat it and finally delivers what Walt's actions wouldve caused. Whoever was on Walt's side, whoever despised Skyler cannot deny that everything Walt did was leading to this point. And with this knowledge, this undeceived vision of the show, how can there be so many people that still loathe Skyler so much to the point of sending death threats to her actress? It's crazy how something can be so misinterpreted, Im speechless
If it makes you feel better, I think Skyler is the second smartest civilian in BB universe, next to Gus Fring. Followed by Jesse, then Walt. Non civilians e.g. Hank and Mike, should unsurprisingly surpass them training wise. Education wise and technical wise, Walt surpasses them all except maybe Elliot Schwartz. Love how you needed to add that part of "death threats" when describing people who didn't like Skyler. You did a good job with poisoning the well. And if it doesn't need to already be said, no I wasn't with Walt's side on this.
This is one of the most heartbreaking scenes of all time. Skylar finally putting her foot down was her most admirable moment. Walt Jr. protecting his mom from the monster his father had become was emotional as hell.
Walt jr did great, the concept of having to sink in months of things happening that you didn’t knew about just blowing up in front of you is very specific and his acting was great to demonstrate how one would react.

Actions do have consequences and this series proves it beautifully. Skylar here is facing the consequences of her singing happy birthday to Ted. This scene is brutal indeed but well deserved for Skylar. Pure poetry.

You can tell Skyler and Walt Jr have lost Walt the second time he says “we’re a family.” They genuinely feel scared of him now, and Walt knows their relationship is over…
Hank was almost killed with a bomb earlier in the series. Then almost gunned down/chopped with an axe by two psychos. His line of work is inherently high-risk. With Walt as this known mastermind/crime lord/whatever, Hank should've known better than to only come with one extra man. That was beyond foolish and not Walt's fault at all. When Walt gets in a panic, he, like everyone else, acts without thinking. If he thought about it, he would have known Jack would've done what he did and wouldn't have called. Same with kidnapping Holly. He wouldn't have done that if he wasn't in a panic.
@insoporous9978 Especially considering in the very first episode, he and Steve have an entire SWAT team backing them up just to bust "Captain Cook". But to get Heisenberg, it's just Hank and Steve. That was always baffling to me.
My older brother died when I was 18 back in 2016 so this scene hits pretty hard. Losing someone you love is the hardest thing ever. BCS and BrBa are such amazing pieces of cinema
Yeah but there was lots of emotional death scenes in the show. This is more about everything falling apart for a character viewers are highly invested in and still reluctantly want to succeed.
In this scene all of the glory and reverence for Walter disappears. It’s not a “final battle,” nor is it very enticing. It’s a rude awakening, a messy show, all masterfully crafted to show who Walter truly is.
NO NO NO! I TRIED TO SAVE HIM, bro was so mentally exhausted by what he had just been through he just let it slip after 6 seasons of trying to be perfect
Chills. Absolutely chills. I’ll watched this scene so many times in the past, but it still gets me chills. It’s in this moment we begin to question when did Walt become so dangerous. But we realize… it was always this dangerous
The “what the hell is wrong with you? We’re a family” made me cry. I’m not a typical cryer, and nothing else in the show made me cry. But the show was just so overwhelming that I couldn’t keep it in
I feel bad for Walt Jr. He always saw both his father and Hank as his heroes. He tried multiple times to hangout with them and be their friend. Now he realises that not only one of his heroes died, he also realises that was killed off by his most important hero
When I first saw this episode I had to take a break after it showed Skyler bloodied and collapsing in the middle of the road. This episode was massive emotional damage.

Is it kidnapping if one legal guardian takes them from another legal guardian?
@@abigbutterstick1780 legally speaking, yes. he was taking holly without the approval of skyler, and refused to let skyler see her.
@@sailoruniverse5715 Walt is also now a fugitive, so the crime would more specifically be Family Abduction
@@abigbutterstick1780Yes, still kidnapping and still a very serious offence even if the person taking the child is the parent/legal guardian.
the fact this scene is only 4 minutes long is nuts, i remember watching it it felt like 10 at least
Man the absolute heartbreak you got to have for Skylar when Walt takes Holly…
Cop: Is your father dangerous or is he the danger?
Wait let me understand If a guy opened his door and got shot would it be him or would he be the one who knocks
You can tell Skyler and Walt Jr have lost Walt the second time he says “we’re a family.” They genuinely feel scared of him now, and Walt knows their relationship is over…
This actually feels like a horror film. No other episode in 'Breaking Bad' had this much realism put into it.
This truly such a good show, this episode just left me speechless. Brian Cranston went from Malcom in the middle to this.
That take at 2:03 is just heartbreaking.
This scene damn near made me cry. We know Walt’s a PoS but to finally see him realize he destroyed his family is just crazy. 5 seasons led to this.
1:20 for the most satisfying part
Why??
The acting in this scene is just perfect. God I love this show!
2:54 Leonardo dicaprio when his Girlfreind turns 20
I cried when Walter said "we're a family" and his family was scared of him, plus Holly crying
Truly a masterpiece as an episode
Holly deserves much more credit for he talent, brilliant performance..
For those defending walt here, he put hank in a position to be killed. And there definitely was a side to walt that was relieved he was killed
But he did everything he could to save hank. He even told jack not to come
Really? Cause it seemed that Hank's desire to put Walt in the jail killed him
Hank was almost killed with a bomb earlier in the series.
@@insoporous9978 he didn't have enough hard evidence to call more forces, that's why he only got Gomey for Jesse's questioning
I wish you strength , stranger on the internet ....
God bless him. Hopefully he is in heaven now.
God bless. May he rest in peace. Bless you.
2:22 Flynn was right about Walt. Shows Ozymandias is the episode that made many fans root against Walter White.
Nah most of us stayed pro Walt
Stopped rooting for Walt somewhere during season 4
In this scene all of the glory and reverence for Walter disappears. It’s not a “final battle,” nor is it very enticing. It’s a rude awakening, a messy show, all masterfully crafted to show who Walter truly is.
Through out the seasons you feel frustrated With Walter but it's this exact that makes you really hate him
This scene is the highest peak of tv history
Not true.
NO NO NO! I TRIED TO SAVE HIM, bro was so mentally exhausted by what he had just been through he just let it slip after 6 seasons of trying to be perfect
most tense scene all time
best episode all time btw
If Walt had the talking pillow in this scene, Skyler and Walter Jr would have actually listened to him.
Nothing but chills when I first saw this ten years ago. Still get 'em now.
That “I tried to save him” with the voice crack and lip quiver is one of the finest pieces of acting I’ve ever witnessed.
3:13 Terminator 2 vibes
You can’t be a Skyler hater after this scene, during all of season 5 even.
There is, in the History of TV Shows, nothing greater than Ozymandias!
Literally is: The entirety of The Sopranos, where Breaking Bad drew much inspiration from

But the show was just so overwhelming that I couldn’t keep it in
This scene is so hard and painful to watch, which is why it's so good.
Anna gunn was very tired for everytime she repeat this scene, very exausthed , but she show us this incredible acting
it doesn't get any better than this
I guess this all the gratitude his family had to witness to him.
One of the greatest scenes ever filmed and one that needed 5 seasons of perfect television to build up to.
I feel bad for Walt Jr. He always saw both his father and Hank as his heroes. He tried multiple times to hangout with them and be their friend. Now he realises that not only one of his heroes died, he also realises that was killed off by his most important hero
The way Walt says “I tried to save him!” is just too dramatically brilliant for words.
This easily THE BEST ACTED EPISODE EVER, Bryan Cranston has the best perfomance in tv
2:42 Walt's little "Oh" to Holly was oddly placed lol.
That was Flynn, not Walt.
@@mattwayne9128 I am pretty sure the "oh' was Walt
@@BrianBull that was for sure flynn
No show will ever come close to breaking bad.
Jr. legit had to process 5 seasons worth of lore and information in less that a minute.
When I first saw this episode I had to take a break after it showed Skyler bloodied and collapsing in the middle of the road. This episode was massive emotional damage.
The best scene in the entire show imo
One of, if not, the best scenes in the show
This was when I cried watching it for the first time
"Walt, you truly have been breaking bad"
*credits roll*
Walt’s “What the hell is wrong with you?! We’re a family!” made me feel so bad for him at this scene even with the circumstances.
Nothing to feel bad about
this is the best acting i have ever seen
Skyler desperately pleaded for Walt to give Holly back, unfortunately for Her, She had not realized that he had already called Dibs whilst leaving.
The things I would do to erase this show from my mind, just to watch it again for the first time….
nice move walt
Skyler: "NO, WALT! LET HER GO!! YOU CAN'T TAKE HER!!"
Walt: Watch me.
