This is a really good looking luxury compact CUV, The amount of practicality in it is commendable for the size. I also like the boxy exterior look. This looks great inside-out I think
I love that as you're talking about the acceleration you're pulling away from a comparable Mercedes next to you. ;)
3:38 Ummm? I believe that's the removable trash can he put his phone in. lmfaoooo
I tell ya, it’s the perfect place for your phone. Basically an oversized ashtray. I wouldn’t put any garbage in there. 😜
When my son's mini was totalled, he used the $ and bought a certified pre-owned XC-40 R-Design. Great used car price/ deal and OMG it's an incredible car.
I gotta stop looking at xc40 videos knowing damn well I can't afford one
@@collinwalker7543 take it on lease my guy i did this, its only like 500$ a month i mean its still kinda expensive tho but anyways

Great car with surprisingly a lot of power. Loving it. Great review
Good Channel!! Test drove them all. Yes indeed the "VOLVO" has a WINNER! You forgot the mention the numerous recalls that Porsche, MB, Jag, and VW; pardon me, Audi Q3. Since you mentioned VW and others, Cadillac is NOT remotely close!! But Seriously Mr. "Everyday Reviews". "It still has that unmistakable boxy look"? Overall Great job with the video presentation!
Hey, great review! This confirms everything I love about my own UK First Edition fully loaded R Design D4 XC40 in crystal white. I just love this car, it puts a smile on my face every day without a fail. I would also recommend a few extra protectors, adding mud flaps give mine a chunky look, the hinged volvo dog/luggage guard is excellent, and so is the volvo boot mat protector.
Great review. Thanks for sharing.
Best review I’ve watched :)
I currently have a 2016 Toyota Camry and while its ok, I want a mini-suv and the Volvo xc40 looks like the perfect choice. Cool review!
Beautiful design in and out specially the exterior and inter color...I would prefer this than the German counter part..
Great review
😍normally don't care about most cars but this thing is cool!!!!
Great Review!
Brilliant review. Thank you
It's marvellous drive
The XC40 was voted European Car of the Year 2018. Just need to add a Plugin version now.
Great video. Btw did he say Tor network or Thor headlights?
subscribed you now! just loved it supernice cpomparison to others car! wowwww i love volvo!!!
Looks stunning in 2020
Thanks 4 sharing Brotha.
Came here after Mamamoo Hwasa got her first car, which is Volvo xc40. 💕
Great review dude from the 🇬🇧 my R Design is coming in March!
I have the XC40 Momentum in light blue and beige interior, I did not wanted to pay for the R Design :( haha but I love it. I only would love to have the premium audio system bcause with android play I use waze all the time. . No car is perfect but I love it. Fun to drive, beautiful, good quality. Good interior space and thank you for your comment about the shifts control. PLEASE...you get use to it in 1 day.
I would change some things like the driver's seat is a little bit too short. The "tablet"....you need to give the first 5, 10 seconds once you start the car to let it load 100%. If not, it will be laggy. And the semi autonomous system....I would love if the car could drive it self for more than....15 seconds.
I love to press the gas when light turns green. Feels very agile.
Summary, I love this vehicle, even when my dream is the new V60. And impossible dream.....the convertible if one day they bring it back.
it's been 2 months since this comment. care to share a bit more on your experiences with the car?
You are the one who complained about this car in other channels, right? Now you came with a praise.. So what is your actual opinion on this car? Mind to share the truth or atleast tell us if you own it or even seen it.
Amazing hope to get one :(
My 2016 GTI with the driving assist package will also combine steering assist with adaptive cruise control as well as parking assist (where you control braking only). Glad to see more cars with these features and am sad to see VW neuter these features in model years after 2016 on the GTI/golf lineup.
Very well said 👍😊
I love my XC40
Omg I love this car!!! Can’t wait until it’s in my driveway
@@RIZFERD Geely only funds the project. The rest is Swiss. It's like if Manchester United are owned by American owners, it does not suddenly turn them into an American brand. They are still English.
@@christianojeda141 Yes, thank you sister. It is indeed Swedish. The Swiss are more famous for their watches and chocolate than their cars. Lol
I love it
great video though
Richmond! Nice
My future car
6:25 the answer is very simple. in North America you simply don't care about the parking space, as your spaces could fit pickup trucks. However in Europe to park my compact size estate I have to correct my position five times to be in the middle and not to touch any line (or I can get a ticket). With traditional automated gearbox it's dead simple 'front','backward','front' here, I have to double my movements, every single time.
Not necessarily. I live in NYC and ability for a car to execute tight parallel parking is a very important requirement.
I am 6.5 feet and 298 pound guy would I fit in this car can and anyone give me accommodations for an SUV that fits my needs? With all wheel drive that has nice interior and also that looks nice it hard for me to find one
Nice
Looks like you've been driving in Richmond :P
The auto park solves one dilemma but creates another, while it means people will thankfully now park between the lines, it however takes too long to execute that manoeuvre. In a busy carpark this will just cause delays and jams 🤷🏻♂️ and who knows what that frustration will lead on to
It looks cute...
Please make a hybrid version
Please start recording at 60FPS, if you can.
i like this car
Just moved to Germany and looking at the Volvo XC40. I'd be curious if you compared it to the fully loaded VW Tiguan given the fairly equal size.
No I haven’t but the Tiguan in North America is much bigger than the XC40.
I’m hoping for a little more power (300 torque)
How are blind spots in this car?
Brian thanks for the informative review.. Digital cluster is fab, and lots of goodies... BUT... Some points to consider for potential buyers:
1. The turning circle is wide..Not so urban or city friendly. Its not so compact when it comes to doing a tight turn parking or u turn.
2. The the built in blind spots at the rear quarters might be fashionable, but clearly break the decades of safety first that Volvo represented
3. The rear seat back is quite vertical and has NO recline at all. Very uncomfortable for me (everyone should try and compare)
4. Needs rear USB/chargers for the rear passengers. (please check in your region as this could be included)
5. Would be nice to have PHEV and EV versions asap
Thank you for the warning about the turning radius. I will pay special attention to that when I test drive.
Since you have drove the 2019 RDX, which one would you say has a better ride for everyday driving.
RDX is a more bang-for-buck car than XC40. It also has less rolling, in my opinion. The materials of the new RDX's interior are better quality too.
But you're paying a good $10k more for that RDX with better materials. They are different classes, so really not an equal comparison. RDX is bigger, more hp, softer leather, etc. I drove it too and did not like the bigger size. Also, the brake was very spongy! Really need to push the pedal hard before braking happens.
The XC40 is truly the best small CUV out there. Any of it's real competition to have the same options costs up to $10k more.
Did you had sport supension?
Is it required by law to have those yellow reflectors on the side of the headlights?
Porsche made the Macan to compete against GLC, X3/X4, and Q5 and XT5. It's in the category above.
But Volvo beats them in Higher speed when it comes to it's high performance
This car looks nice....the seat looks like it'll be easy to get it dirty..
Volvo owns this class
As a Norwegian I love the Boxy Volvo look! Very Stormtrooper ish. Pinoy ka ba?
To be honest, this Volvo is quite pretty, I don't see much of this box style, I like it!!!
@@robertor.7319 They're not boxy anymore. Volvo is one of the most stylish cars on the market, especially the current ones. But last generation, besides the rear of the wagon, they weren't boxy either, or the generation before that.
okay but did anyone see the parking in the camera....
i would like to know how comfortable the driving seat is compared to other suvs. Lots of people have lower back problems and sciatcia. I presently drive a BMW X1 which is a joy to drive but the seat sucks and never softened.
Volvos are known for their seat comfort. The seat will be firm but softer than in the BMW.
Yes I like the car ... but my engin is T4 ... that is enough for me... but the same equipment...🥰
The porsche Macan is not at all a compact crossover, neither is it a competitor of the XC40. The competitors are
the BMW X3,
Jaguar E-pace,
Audi Q3,
Lexus NX,
Range Rover Evoque,
Cadillac XT4,
Infinity QX50,
Mercedes GLA,
and the Lincoln MKC
X1/X2, not X3 (too large)
QX30, not QX50 (too large)
X3 and QX50 are XC60 competitors.
XC40 is a nice car and smallest crossovers agter XC60.
For a mini SUV the price is too sharp and not affordable for overwhelming majority.
Renault has made a EV mini suv electric car which is hitting market back-end of 2019/ beginning 2020 and promised price cap ofcunder £10,000 pounds, wow...
It definitely promising and worthwhile waiting for.
melodytalks true price is high but Volvo is a high end brand along with Cadillac and Audi. Cars for the majority are Nissan, Ford, and Chevy
Lynk&co might be a good choice for you. Same platform but much lower price.
melodytalks It’s the same price as its competitors, the Renault won’t be luxurious at all and people who buy an XC40 want luxury. There is not point in saying it’s not worth paying luxury prices for a luxury car and comparing it to something similarly priced to a Dacia Duster.
Edit: If you are talking about the Renault KC E then it’s from under 25 grand, not 10 grand. However if you convert it to pounds it will be around 17 grand, much rather have a Hyundai kona.
The Porsche Macan is not in the same class as this XC40 and the others you listed. The XC40/Q3/GLA/XT4/E-Pace/X1 are subcompact luxury crossovers, while the Macan is bigger and is a compact luxury crossover.
Yes but the Macan is a pretty small compact SUV. I’d say it’s in the same class because I like both of them a lot and would consider both for my own vehicle. Just finished driving the new Macan GTS and have to say, it’s a pretty small vehicle.
@@EverydayReviews2022 It's a little small, but definitely more in the compact class than subcompact. For reference, the Q3 and XC40 have a 105 and 106 inch wheelbase while the Q5 and XC60 have a 111 inch and 112 inch wheelbase. The Macan has a 110 inch wheelbase. Also the Macan is priced MUCH higher than subcompact luxury crossovers, it's even more expensive than XC60/Q5 prices.
Nice review, very good observations. I do have a complaint though.
I don't get "unmistakable Volvo boxy look." That was the 70s-90s, not now. The previous xc60 (2010) was jelly bean shaped with soft edges and quite rounded. The previous v60 even more so. The P2 Volvo s60 was a heavy shoulder rather rounded shaped car. The estates had a straight back, but really weren't boxy besides that. Let's retire "boxy" with Volvo. That's a dated perspective at this time. Most Volvos have a sleek shape and this is a car that has a strong look, and at the size rounding it would make it inefficient to the space. The rear end does slope some.
At this point, Volvo is a chic, designer alternative Euro brand. Alternative to the Germans, which I find boringly designed and overly serious but with refined road manners, and the Jag, Cadillac, which I find more interesting but not as complete road manners. Volvo does road manners the Volvo way so they don't quite feel German and committed to that level of road manners, yet feel firm, solid, and hold the road well in a very Volvo way. They're worth considering but people should drop all notions of what Volvo's used to be. They're now chic cars.
The Macan is in a different league, that's an insult comparing it to this XC40.
I'm concerned that this would feel as though any brand could have slapped their name on this... Compared to it's competition, the interior looks very industrial like a Jeep renegade...
3:38 is actually removable rubbish bin
Yes I mention that later. I guess you didn’t watch the whole review. Thanks for the comment.
I am torn between Volvo XC40 and Mercedes GLB! Any recommendations?!
I prefer the XC40 for Exterior and Interior Styling but the GLB has some great technology and I'd say has a sportier drive. Very tough call.
Front seats are too narrow for me in this car. And I'm 6' 173 lbs. Crossed it off my list for that reason alone.
The shifter is a mess. Pushing forward should mean go forward, pulling back should mean reverse. There are several annoying quirks in this car, but otherwise a nice car.
I believe this video is dated... the base price is above $40,000 they up the price three times this year!!
@@EverydayReviews2022 the base is $40,300. From $39,000 then $39,500 and now $40,300
Hmmm. They must have just did it because it was $39,500 when I checked it.
It's the most modern of the Volvo, the newest version of their current design language. The xc90 will be an all-new design in 2022. In some ways, the Polestar 2 is the latest Volvo design language but it is experimenting with sustainable materials that may not look as premium to some as the materials in Volvos.
🇸🇪😍
Tor’s hammer lol
I think it depends where you're from. I've had a couple of European friends over the years that were named Thor and they were always pronounced Tor with a silent H. Good catch!
Second choice. First choice is Lexus ux250h.
This is great but has anyone of these reviews address the potential nightmare that fixing all this electronics will have down the road?
Pretty well all new cars have an abundance of electronics these days.
why every car in this segment Has a 2.0 liter 4? why so small for a small SUV . Back then only small cars had 2.0. people want everything in one thing. wants to save as much gas but big car and room and off-road and sporty and comfortable. ahaha
Something to do with emissions in Europe, I believe. In Europe, people buy smaller engines and horsepower needs are much lower than in the USA. They are much more concerned with fuel consumption than in the USA.
Geely, China
Has done a great job financing Volvo. They are now more premium, more stylish, and have forward-looking technology as opposed to dead like Saab is. That's a shame, but that's what happens with a bad owner like GM.
Size matters
Porsche Mecan to this??? Lol I mean this a great car...competitor would be more like BMW X1, GLA 250, Lexus NX etc.
I was comparing it to the base Macan with the 2.0 turbo and a similar price.
Hell looks like a Mercedes Benz
the air condition it's too loud
It looks like it has tailfins from a 1960 Plymouth. Most amusing.
Pretty cool car! However, park assist? I could park it a lot quicker manually! Kind of a dumb feature if you actually know how to drive a car! Same with the semi-auto steering nonsense! Gimmicks that jack up the cost, more things to go haywire!
Alfa Romeo giulia 280hk
I feel like this is the kind of car you'd buy your daughter if your life was a Twilight movie and you were discreetly rich. Lol
Xavier Rodríguez funny because twilight is probably the reason I love Volvo’s..

Looks like the new rav4 🤔
it seems cool and luxury but too much for me.
