- SKF has upgraded its logistics structures in the Schweinfurt warehouse.
The picking principle “Goods to Man” (“G2M”) was implemented. (2019)
Our SKF Warehouse in Schweinfurt has been through a 2 year long redesign and ramp up. We are combining existing technologies within the material flow, in new ways, applying a “Goods to Man”-approach (the opposite of ”Man to Goods”, where the picker drives to the rack and picks out the goods). The warehouse holds16 fully automized forklifts operating in very narrow aisles doing outbound and inbound transportation. And13 wagons on a monorail, acting as binding element between pick/pack area and storing area. The warehouse also features real time visualization of the material flow, in about 18,700 storing locations spread over 18 aisles.
