Hey. I'm thinking of the same. I am currently working for a company as a technician in Victoria but want to go solo. I think the best approach is to list down what you can do as a handyman and what you want to learn. Then based on this info you can create a specialized website to market that. Also circulate pamphlets in mailboxes in your area. That's what I want to do soon
Hey mate yep I drive back to melbs all time. I currently got so much work from the agency I can’t keep up. I’ve also signed up to hipages and Airtasker and there are soooo many jobs you can choose from. The first hurdle is getting the first job under your belt and the confidence will build from there.
Thanks heaps mate i have just started my own handyman business. You have given me some great tips and tricks i cant wat to see more. Hey as a handyman are we allowed to fix leaky taps. cheers mate keep up the good work.
That’s awesome news mate so glad to hear. As far as I’m aware we can change existing washers within taps but replacing a whole Fossett, it’s a no no you have to be licensed. I’m employed by numerous Real Estate agencies now and they never give me any work orders that require plumbing work for insurance purposes I presume. Attached is a link to consumer affairs of what we can do. www.consumer.vic.gov.au/housing/building-and-renovating/checklists/home-improvements-costing-10000-or-less
great work man. i want to work in handi mam, i also had aexperiences in construction diiferent fiels. but i dont have any certifications. so what things to do for becoame a handy man
Good on you buddy obviously having qualifications and certificates look favourable on paper. However, you do not require a license if the work completed is under a certain amount for example. New South Wales if I was to invoice someone less than $5000, I don’t require a license. if I was to work in Victoria and The greater than $10,000, I will need a license. Each state is slightly different. Below is a reference point for your starting point to get started.
