Many people's first Ace Combat. Remember picking it up with my fatboy PS2 way back in the day. The nostalgia is real right now.
This and Armored Core 3 :)
Kingdavid1001 Also my first and the only PS2 ace combat still working on my PS2
Took my PS2, an LCD screen, and this game on a camping trip back in May 2002. Listened to it in the tent. Good times.
Yep this was my first Ace Combat.
12:28 As a kid I never noticed how well equipped Yellow 4 was. She draggin' a wagon.
Damn, that ain't no cake, that's a whole God-given bakery.
@@DEFC0NZER0 Guess Rena wasn't the only one needing a special Su-37
You know, i'm so planebrained, i clicked that timestamp fully expecting a shot of the Yellow Su-27 with a full loadout 😂
I hope I'm not the only one who could repeat the first cutscene line by line...
"I was just a child when the stars fell from the skies..."
Sun_skimmer 89 I'd rather choose this
"A sound like distant thunder..."
"Now they only live in my memories of days past."
I remember seeing the first cutscene when I was 4. I didn't know how to save the game back then, so I only ever played Sitting Duck and Imminent Threat. Coming back to it as an adult was so compelling, it kind of feels like I grew up with the kid.
Woah, that's an interesting experience. Thanks for sharing!
what a history! cool!
Without a doubt, the most beautiful story of all Ace Combats.
This is what _Ace Combat 7's_ cutscenes should've been like. As much as I love _Ace Combat 7,_ being the first game in the series I've played and the best game I've played in 2020, it's greatest flaw was the long drawn-out CGI cutscenes, with boring exposition, and the disconnect between the story told in the cutscenes and the story told through mission briefings/in-mission dialogue.
Apparently those CG cutscenes also ate up a lot of their budget, could've spent those resources on more plane licenses or any other game mechanic development/refinement.
But at least we got JPEG doggo.
???? The cutscenes and the plot of Three Strikes both merge at the end.
@@GalaxyStandard77 Keywords "at the end". The plot shown in the cutscenes is completely separate from the plot in the missions up until the very last mission.
I would love a fully remastered version of this game.
Yeah me too. They kind of tried with the latest one, but it's not the same... like not even close
@@aj3751tbh the only remake in AC is Cross Rumble (AC2), if they were making more remakes, i hope they do better.
Such an amazing heart wrenching story. Project aces really nailed it with this one. The gameplay is great too. Imo, this is by far the best ace combat game ever made. A true masterpiece.
My first ace combat so near and dear to my heart. I remember coming home from school I even beat this game in a day. Thank you ACF for uploading this
I follow all of AC from PS1, and AC4 is one of the best. The story line, graphic, background music and the actual fighter jet fighting simulation game bring the most entertaining PS game can offer. Its the reason I still keep the PS2 console and AC4 game in my possession.
Anyone else notice the song the kid starts playing at 4:00? The little bit we hear of a harmonica playing on the Kestrel is the same... never noticed this 'til now... o.o
A bit of a ridiculous theory, but I headcanoned that soldier playing the tune on the Kestrel was him.
@@kevintang2605sailor
@@kevintang2605 The problem with that theory is that 1) how could someone from Usea join the OMDF and 2) assuming the narrator was 11-12 in AC04, he'd be 17-18 in AC5, still too young.
@@mobiusraptor717-18 is the perfect age for a conscript lol
@@quarol732 Yeah but he's not Osean lol
The first time an adversary thought me that I'm not invincible after hours and hours spent on Ace Combat 3... Thanks Yellow 13! It was a wonderful lesson...
12:41. I found it a little odd and amusing that the crew chief was kvetching to an enemy civilian child about logistics problems. It is like he has never heard of classified information.
The squadron didn’t view the boy as an enemy. He was accepted by them.
You know, I'll be honest, my first thought was that I'm not too comfortable with this sort of "content". But then on second though, not only is this kind of archival work important, above all, it's far better you do it than goddamn Duck.
Makes me wonder if side story narrator was actually just spending the entire game writing a letter, and each cutscene is just him recounting something in the letter.
I saw it as the protaganist having flash backs as he read the letter he received
my only complaint about this game is that it was too damn short... I wanted something as long as The Unsung War, dammit!
Some of the absolutely best songs are about a minute and a half to two minutes and some change long. Enough to make you want more after its completed but enough for you to enjoy its fleeting nature. That’s some of the beauty of this game. It was long enough to tantalize and enthrall you, but sort enough to leave you yearning for more of exactly what drew you in initially.
The nostalgia is overwhelming
Did anyone else notice that this kid's head can swivel like 180 degrees at 1:25?
Lmao
notice his torso has also moved so i think that part is anatomically right
Oh god i never noticed that
I want to go back and forget that
Nah wen i try it it works it just looks weird cause the art style
Thats correct
He turned his body slightly n his head all the way back
Its more akind to lookin back in shock than turning around
How tf does a game about shooting down planes could be so emotional and amazing?!
looking back this was really depressing, especially for 8 year old me
God the memories... I remember playing this when I was 11 as my second introduction to the series.
But I remembered that back then, the 11 year old me only had one question... Did the young boy managed to get the barkeep's daughter, his crush?
I come back to this video every so often. It’s stuck with me for so long now
I remember playing this when I was little and back then I didn’t even know the full name of the game. I knew it was ace combat but all I could remember was the yellow 13 and the cutscenes and story. I’m so glad I was able to find this game again. I don’t have a ps2 anymore so it seems an emulator will be the way to go

Vextra a french military vehicle.
Feels like watching an Ace Combat anime (if an actual strangerealian anime exist officially by Namdai)
I skipped these as a kid, now that I’m grown and I understand the message, I am sad I did.
16:07
Out of context spoiler for the barbie movie.
The cutscenes of this game were so awesome.
War was an abstract idea. Nothing more than a show on tv. As a child, I only saw it as something that happened in some far away land...
I come back to this now, after the Russian invasion of Ukraine.
Me too
Why not the US invasion of most of the world?
At least the Russians are fighting the bad guys.
@@MAXIMILLIONtheGREATAbsolutely, We're fighting the Ukrainian Banderists Nazis and Russian Voluntary Corps Nazis using stupid Neo Nazis as cannon fodder
this story could easily be a tv series
Yeah it would make a really good anime. I mean it would make a good live action series too but given the whole fighter jet nature it would either look corny or need an unfathomable budget. Imagine having to make every action scene a Top Gun 2 level production.
@@Appreciation-Community Knowing the series Vifam a series of events like this can be insane 50+ episode series
Vifam was about children with some help from adults surviving war times an joining the fight when they must
sounds pretty Ace Combat unexpected people pulling off crazy stuff through drama
I was just a child when I first heard this game's introduction. At first, I thought the narrator was Mobius 1, and we had witnessed the forging of our silent protagonist. As it went on, I realised Mobius 1 wasn't actually very important to the tale. It was Yellow 13's story, really. And this child was the one who actually knew the Yellows. It made me sad, despite winning. I will never forget this.
I have my copy right beside me. Was worried when I got it, thought that since it was a promo copy that it would just be like a demo. But it's the whole game, thank god.
Very much getting Megalo Box Season 2 Nomad vibes here! Or maybe this is what inspired it❤️🔥
am I the only one who felt bad for shooting down yellow 13
I felt bad for killing Yellow 4. But Yellow 13 got exactly what he wanted, a chance to test himself against the best pilot the enemy has to offer.
17:01 is there a name for that song
ua-cam.com/video/vrss4Xx5Lu8/v-deo.html
Usean Anthem
This was elite video game storytelling.
I miss this game so much
I know that its a theory and it might be false but we never knew Yellow 13's actual name. We also never knew if he survived or not...just "vanished". Also the handkerchief did not burn into flames...which is odd. AND Yellow 13 was young during the Ace Combat 4 era. The face of Mihali in Ace Combat 7 looks kind of similar than the nameless Yellow 13. Again...these are just theories and it is not actually confirmed at all; and yes Ace Combat Fan made a video about this. Any reply to this?
acecombat.wikia.com/wiki/Erich_Klinsmann
though, his fighters/squadron camo also appeared in AC5 in level ACES but that doesn't mean he is also there, that is just the camo
Best ps2 game ever
I’m ace combat 7 I have the yellow 13 skin for the su 37
I have the Mobius 1 paint scheme on my F-22 Raptor.
mihaley could be yellow 13 or maybe(not sure) mobius 1.
Belkan Squadron I just did a comment about that...look at it all right...no im not saying your name ok?
Wait I just did
Yellow 13 is actually a belkan look up Erich Klinsmann on the wiki
a former belkan air force pilot
Nope he was his mentor
