Honestly, Digimon Savers is very unique and also very traditional. Adventure introduced Digimon, the concept about the Digital World, and the evolutions. Adventure 02 showed us Armor evolutions and DNA/Fusions as well as two human antagonist that eventually become good. (Tamers) Season 3 flipped the whole thing around and made Adventure/02 in a game/show like we see it ourselves. The cards are used for power-ups and Digimon cross over into the 'real' world to become stronger or are just lost. Not to mention it introduces a new Digital World and Bio-merge/Matrix evolutions that combines Digimon with their human partner. In addition to being darker than the previous seasons. (Fontier) Season 4 Ran with the whole humans merging with Digimon but this time they made it so that the Digimon have no agency (For the most part) and are simply spirits that the humans are able to use to stop the evil in the Digital World. There is no human antagonist and seems fairly traditional when compared to the seasons before it. Though it make the argument that Darkness is not necessarily evil and Light isn't always good. (Savers) Season 5 is my favorite artistically. The change in animation style is refreshing and the older cast of 3 was appropriate for those who had grown up watching the show were of similar age. It follows the traditional line of the weekly bad Digimon being defeated at first but changes when a true human villain shows up, then uses a darker version of the Bio-merge/matrix evolution from Tamers, and then has the guardians of the Digital World as the enemies. The final villain that makes his debut when the guardians appear is also great. I won't mention Xros Wars because I don't remember it enough to describe it. I remember that being the season I only watched once after seeing the censorship and the dub. I am sleep deprived so please excuse any typos.

They didn't "change" his evolutions, they simply gave this Agumon an alternate line. Digimon don't have fixed evolution lines, just look at the card game or the v-pets to see how crazy they can get.
tbh this is my fav digimon series, the most epic scene in the entire digimon series when shinegreymon evolves into burst mode the first time, also this is the only season that brings almost every royal knight

Most of the haters happen to be "genwunners" (which seems to be the rule for at least 80% of the western digimon fans) so their "complaints" for the most part consist on variations of the following: "It's so different from adventure, It's bs because of that" "They tries so hard to copy adventure they even had the same lead digimon" So on and so forth but yeah, Savers is one of the beast seasons in my opinion (since it grew alongside its audience, in more than one way).

Ah Savers! You were a slow starter but once I hit ep 12, I couldn't get enough. Kurata is among the best Digimon villains second only to Lucemon and DarkKnightmon. The music was top notch, BELIEVER AND HIRARI FTW. The battles were good, the Digimon designs were good and really how can you call a season that had all the Royal Knights in it (well except Alphamon for obvious reasons). Belphemon made for a surprisingly good battle was on the edge of my seat. RAVEMON AND BURST MODE FTW. That is all.

The general setting and plot line share many similarities. They start out the first half the season in the human world and the second half in the digital world. There's this secret organization responsible for dealing with Digimon in the real world, Hypnos and the Data Squad, the villains were non-digimon. Yamaki, Kurata, D-Reaper and Yggdrasil. Yggdrasil and D-Reaper share similar traits, that they are basically programs that has gone mad. The general theme and art style of the show follows the more "digital" style of tamers, emphasizing that Digimon are digital creatures showing pixels and zeroes and ones during digivolution and in the digital world, whilst adventures, frontier and Xros Wars made it seem less "digital" on more like a real living creature/worlds.

I don't know why Savers got a lot of hate.. This was pretty darn good. This also had the best sound track out of all the digimon series. It was the english dub that killed this, but the japanese version is definitely worth watching.

as a fan of gurren lagann and scryed I really enjoyed this season probably it's my favorite, but I could see why it would upset some people to see Masaru do inhuman feats like punching out a bunch of perfects and ultimates
Tamers by far was the more mature season. This one was a close second with the Kurata arc but the following arc was rushed and wasnt expanded enough. The themes werent as mind warping as tamers had with the d-reaper focusing on Jerry's mental state
As stated before, Tamers was actually a lot more mature... Savers is only more mature when it comes to the characters' ages lol Not that Savers is bad (I like it, personally) but Tamers was a lot darker and more mature.
