Honestly, this is how I view the song:
the girl has fallen in love, which is unfortunate timing, because fall has started. (In Japan, it is a superstition that if you fall in love in fall, it won't end out good) So, she talks to herself as a practice before talking to him/her. In the end, because it's fall, it does not work out, so she fails.

I have to admit Luka fits this song more. Luka was made to sing sad and tragic songs while Miku sings happy songs like "World is mine" etc.
Miku actually sing hirari hirari, tawagoto speaker, depression of a young literati,you're a useless child, and celestial symphony and her part in the dark circus is very sad. And Luka sings so many happy songs and has a minor group of sad songs.
FullMetal_Otaku Chan I know that. I'm just stating that Luka's voice fits sad songs more than happy songs while Miku is the opposite. I didn't say Luka has more tragic songs than Miku.
Eri Berry I would have to agree that luka does suit sad songs and miku sings the happy song's but she does have a couple sad songs that are really good but luka definitely is better for this song

I like both versions. Both vocaloids are swesome at the song. Lets face it both versions still have a big effect. Choosing which is better is a waste of time don't you think. Because people have different opinions. It's best to say they are equal. Without Miku's Lukas wouldn't have existed in the first place. The only difference is miku's is more of a thoughtful one. It has the creators feelings in it. Luka's voice goes well with traditional japanese music and her voice can spread more a story!
I'm sure it would have. I don't believe that the world revolves around her that much, to say that the song only exists because of her.

No, Miku is the original. Kurousa-P released this song on Feb. 2008, and Luka version followed on May 2009.
Well, I can't denial that Luka's Akahitoha is better but Miku's is also beautiful. Juz the PV and the feeling shows Luka's better.

In my opinion, this is one of the most beautiful vocaloid songs. At the very beginning I thought "ooh, this is a nice song", then when the voices came in, I fell in love with it. Such a pure sound from Miku. And the chord choices and instrument choices are fantastic- even meter changes. I love it. Oh, and the illustrations are quite beautiful, especially the one shown at the beginning and end of the video.
@daydreamerthepen: It's the original. But Luka version is better. Miku voice is to happy so it isn't fit the song's emotion. Luka's voice describes the sad emotion better
Same here. The two versions have got a different feeling to it. Luka's version has more warmth and feeling in it. Miku's version is beautiful too, but she sounds a bit too happy and energetic for it, as if she's only telling the story of someone else and she's got nothing to do with it. IDK it's just my opinion.
Miku's ver is very good especially for its time, but luka's ver it's SO good it makes me want to cry.

Take this one for example. Miku doesn't sound like she's missing her beloved at all. She's happy and jumpy. At 3:10 - 3:27 Luka gives a strong emotional pulse while Miku doesn't.
Just admit it. Miku doesn't suit for tragic songs. She sounds too happy for them ruining the mood.

Her voice sounds beautiful and the PV also has great images but you know it just feels that this song fits better with Luka and I'm not saying this because said version is more popular, it's because the "feeling" of the song seems to fit more with Luka's own "feeling" than it does with Miku's.

I think which this version is a demo; Kurousa-P produced this version before Luka's apparition.

Megurine Luka has been covering Hatsune Miku because they're both vocaloids with different attributes. Simply put, Project DIVA team wanted to experiment with both programs/engines (Vocaloid 1, 2, and 3). Each one has its own depth as well as recorded voices, and different users can use different Vocaloids for different music. This is in reply to everyone who's wondering why Megurine Luka (Vocaloid2APPEND or Vocaloid3 engine) is covering a lot of Miku (Vocaloid2 engine) songs.

I decided to translate early Miku works in Japanese style. Maybe that's why my recent translations have the words "transient", "fragile"or "mere" in common.
Haiku poems (俳句) and Zen Buddhism riddle (禅問答), which compose not a few part of the Japanese thinking, may partly be an answer. They often express the transience of human life as a part of 'the great nature", where every living thing goes through the transmigration of soul.
