    For people wondering: the displacement is -73.0m, not 73.0m. This is because the ball is going DOWN in reference to its starting position, the top of the building. This should fix any negative square root issues when solving.

      I think d is +ve as it is still above "0" if d=-ve ball will be underground. This gives V=-ve downwards. ?

    I have mid terms tomorrow and don't really get physics but this video truly did help a lot !😁

    the a/g should be 9.8m/s2. Because every object in freefall should be positive in gravity.

    wrong equations it has a negative sign after you multiply the A and D. you cant squarerrot if it has a negative sign dude

      James Kisai the Y should be -ve Coz the object goes down , so -ve multiply -ve will be +ve , he didn’t mention this

    sir i don't understand why the g is negetive??? in our book it's given positive everywhere. Does it comes from the graph of x and y axis?

      Because all things goes down is all negative

      but its not going against gravity, if I were to trow the ball up, then g is negative. @@towerdive0081

    38,2 m/s or 137.5 km/h (g=10 though not 9,81)
    i guess

    It is negative because of "when it hits the ground" therefore it is negative. G=-

    How do you multiply (-19.6)(73.0) and get positive 1,430.8 false asf. Someone get their teacher

    • @ahills930
      @ahills930 7 років тому

      You are correct this is false. I am a physics teacher and he made a mistake that a lot of my students make. He was going to have to take the squareroot of a negative number which you can not do. He has two options here he can either decided to call the downward direction the positive direction and thus change is acceleration to positive 9.8 or he can continue to assume the upward direction is positive and change the distance to -730 meters because the distance the object actually travels is down.

    • @andrawaali
      @andrawaali 7 років тому

      How come acceleration be negative in this sum

    • @siecd
      @siecd 2 роки тому

      the d (displacement) is supposed to be negative since it is displacing downward. when you multiply the (-19.6) and the (-73) then you get a positive.

    • @siecd
      @siecd 2 роки тому

      @@andrawaali the object is falling down so it’s negative
