Does anyone outside the inner circle of the Tory party like Rishi's suit? Does anyone think it will work? The only real element of the entire scheme is the cost.

We want our BBC back - covering all sides of British opinion and questioning those in power. If Andrew Neil can voice his right wing views in his show AND in interviews, why can't Lineker? They sacked Carol Vorderman.
This whole school playground farce will not stop one single boat and is currently forecast to cost £400M. It would be cheaper to try to get the French to stand by their previous offer to construct an asylum processing centre in France to be staffed by the Home Office. It could prevent many more boats and save us the cost of sending "failures" because they wouldn't be allowed to leave France in the first place. They won't do it because it would show up their scheme to grow the backlog.
Surely if the government had been doing their job correctly no one would have the need to tweet/complain.The conservatives should not criticise people for pointing out what they believe is wrong,we don't live in a dictatorship. At least I hope not!!
Tory have tried and tried again to make BBC a Russian style state mouthpiece. The argument of impartiality is false because Tory have only ever complained about criticisms against them. But it is fine criticise Labour.
Bang on, the Tories have taken the BBC under political control and are mobbing to stifle views they don't like. Nevermind the abject record of venal incompetence and events showing objections were correct.
I absolutely care about what Lineker tweets. Yeah, it's why I follow him. Not for football! For political sense. I care about truth in politics, especially in this post-truth era
To the best of my knowledge MP's whilst suspended are not permitted to take part in any parliamentary activities which includes voting. That being the case any votes recorded for MP's currently suspended should be disregarded.
Lineker has genuine POWER, that most of these mediocrities can only look on and despair. That's why the come down on him so hard. They are ENVIOUS. And envy is a powerful crypto-emotion (a combination of fear and anger).
The only time I hear about Gary Lineker's tweets is when far right snowflakes are outraged. Then, I am warmed by the fact he says such important and positive things. My ire is why does the minor outrage get such a platform.
This is horrifying!!! You have just very casually mentioned, two days later how a majority of MP’s have voted to wipe out some of our human rights!!! This should have been screamed from the rooftops. Absolutely woeful.
What the tories hate is the Lineker is too smart in how he deals with them. Why should he Not respond ad hominem (on the man) when they feel entitled to attack him on the man when he is playing the ball , and when they do that first. Everything about Lineker's professional history tells us how he would, and does, respond to such attacks. In footballing terms, he has the silky skills of the international pro player and these attackers are Sunday league, if they even reach those heights. No wonder he can shake them off.
Only people who wish to bash the BBC or conservatives care. Isn't it strange that talking heads on various media outlets are allowed to comment on whatever they want, without have any sort of in depth knowledge on a subject, want to stop others commenting ?. Anyone has the right to air their views

What on planet Earth is wrong with an ex international English football legend, now a BBC SPORTS COMMENTATOR having a personal opinion on whatever issue he chooses to talk about, as long as it’s not while he’s literally doing his job at the BBC. Gary Lineker can have an opinion on any matter he chooses in his personal life on social media. He’s not a political journalist. He’s a football presenter. His opinion also happens to be 100% correct & not in the slightest bit controversial, but whether correct or not what’s the problem here ?!
Joking about Sunday working, we're now in a situation were Sundays are classed as a normal day of the week with no uplift for unsocial working hours and though you can't be forced to work them, your hours can be given to someone else. Also as wages are so low relatively union membership has dropped so much to be almost useless.
Gary Lineker is a voter, so i assume his views are as valid as anyone else. The issue here is what has he contracted with the BBC i.e. he is either in breach of contract or he is not. BBC does need to put on their big boy/girl pants and stop pandering to politicians. Just watch the public reaction if a government acts to remove public funding - how very un-British
Those who dwell in the loony right echo chamber do. It's really about snobbery. As the great Joe Strummer once sang, " you have the right to free speech, that is, along as, you are not daft enough to actually try it ".
Thankfully, the 'market' [license paying viewers] will decide whether Gary Lineker remains a BBC presenter. Tories should be OK with that tenement of capitalism. Hopefully, his colleagues will again show their solidarity and refuse to engage if GL suffers any sanctions. Sentient human beings with any humanity will also support GL.
All of this coverage should be exclusively focused on the line this bill crosses. Governments have always been able to control what the law says, but when you allow them to dictate what is true or factual things are going badly wrong
I think this vote is seminal, in that it sets a precedent for the UK Government ruling, by fiat, that a particular subjective opinion (in this case, that Rwanda is a 'safe state' for immigrants) is true when all objective evidence, and the opinion of The Judiciary, demonstrates the opposite. This precedent gives every future UK Government, irrespective of political colour, the power to impose on the UK its own opinion irrespective of the facts and of independent Judicial review, and is thus a potentially extremely dangerous move. I also think this vote leaves the fate of PM Sunak to the whims of the right wing of the Conservative Party. This faction could have engineered the defeat of Sunak in the vote on the 'Rwanda Bill' this week but they decided to hold their sword over Sunak's head into the New Year, when every amendment will have to be considered in the context of approval by the more extreme right wing of The Party. Sunak's fate as PM has thereby been postponed but is, by no means, assured. At the end of the day, Sunak enters the New Year beholden to his right-wing collegues and is thereby marked as a weak PM whose power lies, essentially, in the hands of others within his party. Additionally, current assessements of the UK economy as being stagnant (in stark contrast to the promises of pro-Brexit soothsayers), give further pause to those who would wish to remain on the current political/fiscal paths. Just how many more years are the voters of the UK expected to wait until even the tiniest shoots of any Brexit 'dividend' appear?
It's really strange how Gary Lineker keeps finding himself on the wrong side of the BBC, but the right side of history. Someone needs to take a long, hard look at themselves don't they Gary!?
