Tog Fest! Excellent video. Good to see you finally get out for some tog. Love that you release the females ready to spawn. Thanks, again, for showing us how you do it!
Richard Catalina, Jr. Thank you 🙏 just trying to keep the fishery going, they say a mature female releases 30,000 eggs each spawn
Haha, I thought you were gonna say “I’m very fortunate that my wife let me go out at all” but you said “this much” and I was like, aw you have a good wife 🤣🤣
I learn so much from watching your videos,I like that you show how to make and set up the rigs,And to how to use them.
Indiana Fisher Hill Thank you for watching 🙏 I’m trying my best to diversify the species I showcase on the channel
Best video to date!! Tog are awesome, I don't know if I could have let them all go like that. You're a better person then me. But I do believe in conservation, so great job! I love that your videos jump around from species to species, saltwater to brackish to fresh. You're commentary and editing is getting better every day. Great content!! Keep it up!
Greg Garwood Thank you for the feedback 🙏 yeah I’m trying my best to switch it up video to video... weather has been the biggest hinder this spring
You know we love the toe-Tog!! Great vid. Always fun to watch. Not only battle the fish. Gotta beat the rocks.
Your best vid yet. Glad to see the rope is still there. My son and I hit that spot a lot last fall. Keep up the good work.
Pete Adams Thank you! It was the most fun I’ve had fishing in awhile 😬 that is a great spot 🤫
Amazing video buddy. Extremely fun to watch!
M & K Outdoors Thank it truly was the most fun I’ve had fishing in awhile 😬
Brother grate video I love the way you explain everything you do very help ful to me and I'm sure to other viewers to keep up the grate work your friend Mike from nj
Great 👍 video !! I agree I have been watching Reaper Fishing and I love the techniques and content that he puts out . Love your rod and reel combination that you are using !!
Charles Morgan Thanks it was a fun day 😬 yeah that’s my multi purpose medium heavy set up, it is so smooth 👍
Great video man!! Thank you! Learned alot. Probably won't get out this year for them but hopefully next spring I can
T blaze They are around now until November at least inshore. Plenty of time to catch em up 👍
My favorite fish to target in our waters! The water definitely rips through there, small window for us kayak guys until it gets a little sketchy.
Cy_YakFishing Yeah I honestly almost did this video on my kayak but I couldn’t pass up going on the boat with such little wind
Water was soo clean today. Haven’t seen that clean of water all tog season. All our spots turned on today. I’m surprised you dident stop on 9th st on your way over.
Richard Johnson only had an hour to fish so I had to make a decision to only fish one spot
Damn dude. I fish oc alot and never catch anything. Your making me jealous! Good videos and good fishing. I like your ways of not keeping pregnant fish. I try to do that its had for me to identify sometimes. Good work, i hope to see more videos.
I'm going on a tog charter trip on 4/29/21. (OC area, as well.) My buddy has always had luck with this captain, and never gotten skunked, even if they limit out on black sea bass.
Good for you letting the pregnant momma go! Wish there were more anglers like you in the world.
I love the taste of them but not so much that I’m gonna take a breeder. Hopefully they spawn out 👌 Thanks for watching 🙏
Getting the job done man !!! Just subbed!!
The South Shore Angler Fishing Thanks bro I’ve been following your channel! I love your kayak videos! If I’m ever up in Long Island I’ll hit you up ✊✊✊
Awesome video. thanks for leaving the link to Reaper fishing. I checked out his channel and its good. Love your channel. Keep on fishing.
Man that rod would do me good for some tog. Good vid, I love tog fishing.
Thanks! They are strong as can be. Still fishing with rods I've had for over 10 years!
Another great video. Makes me want to fish every time I see your videos. Keep up the good work. Do you have a drone? Might be cool to have some drone footage. (And is Local’s might see where your hotspots are lol)
Jeff S Thank you for the support. I do not own a drone, they are a little too expensive for me. If I’m being honest editing the videos is my least favorite part of this 😂 I did two cameras the last time I was in a kayak and it took me forever to edit the video and inner cut all the film.
Jeff S also these fish aren’t hard to catch, in fact I’m planning on doing another video for them but from land, they love structure like jetties & submerged sod banks
609 Fishing I’d like to try for them under the Brigantine Bridge. This crazy weather and water temp has put a hampering on my catch
Joe, watching this video again to see how you tie your rigs. You say the bait hook is a Gamakatsu live bait hook size 4. The hooks look much larger than a 4 - maybe a 4/0? Thx.
heard that place was packed today. Saturday 4/25. But everywhere else was too.
Thanks for releasing the females, but why are there no male fish on the back bay spots?
It was a zoo on the water today. I think everyone saw the weather forecast & decided to take advantage of the low winds. I went out on my kayak today and fished a spot that typically never has any one and there were eight other kayakers and two boats fishing there.
Two questions
One- what is the combo your fishing with
Two- could that be used to fish off jetties
1- 7’6 Medium Heavy Redbone Rod w/ 3000 Shimano Sahara w/ 15lb braid
2 - it can be used off jetties but I prefer using long fishing rods(9-11ft) for the jetties, my reasoning is the longer rod keeps the scope of your line in a better position (typically less snags)
Nice video I noticed you have a lowrance fish finder am buying a lowrance hook 2 4x whats your opinion i want something simple
I love lowrance! I’ve been using their depth finder for over 10 years. I personally love the hook , I have the triple shot with side & down scan. It is amazing how clear the imaging is, I could see rivets in a sunken dock.
Just started kayak fishing and love your channel. Never got into tog fishing due to not knowing where to fish it. Only place is ac jetty but it be packed. Btw keep up with the channel.
Yeah that place has been mobbed recently. Thanks for watching ✊ tight lines 🎣
With jigs I never go over 1 and a half ounces usually 3/4 it’s a sweet spot if I have to use more than one and a half ounces I just use a hook and sinker rig
Did you catch the sheepshead in Jersey? Whereabouts if so?
Jon Menges I did catch it in NJ, but I’d prefer not to say where. They are prevalent in NJ once the water warms up they are very difficult to catch. I’m planning on doing a video on them in a few months
@@609Fishing i know some places real far south in NJ where they can be found just never ventured down there yet. Maybe come July or so.....
pretty much same strategy from piers and jetty?
Exactly although jetty fishing is much more difficult. On a boat & pier you can fish straight up & down which typically leads to less snags/hang ups.
Have u try cooking Those? Haha
Jeng Videos they are one of my favorite eating fish to be honest, just didn’t want to take the pregnant females
What type of boat do u have
609 Fishing ok is that the brand I’ve been looking to get a smaller boat that is easy to store for the back bays
Well this is the time to buy, look on craigslist you can always find a great deal on a used boat!
They don’t spawn until May , June !
www.asmfc.org/uploads/file/5dfd4d78Tautog.pdf According to scientific data, It begins in April
You definitely lose rigs tog fishing, if your pocketbook is light don’t Tog fish!
“Always keep your word” great advice!
Thanks 🙏
