I know it when I see it. I'm droning for my own art & music videos, and some for my university. Your videos are priceless, in quality and honesty, and you advance my purposes in the most efficient way possible. Absolutely the best review of the Fpv and its features. Coming from big rc helicopters and a hubsan drone, this thing is mind blowing, the digital fpv view on the V2 goggles after eachine v100 goggles and hubsan transmitter screen is like stepping in to another world. I have flown 600 and 700 size helicopters without electronic stabilization and no flybar, and still I keep this out of manual mode. Don't feel like needing the manual mode just yet, its too fun just to cruise in the air with N and S modes.
    Feels like very expensive but buy once cry once. The view up there is breathtaking.

      I think my experience will be like yours. I fly 700’s down to micros. I just ordered my DJI and it’s coming Wednesday. Your right about crying. I always choke on prices. As you know a 700 is nearly 3k so I guess I should have ordered 2? Lmao. I got fly more kit. I’ve been flying since 05 so I’m a proficient 3d pilot. I’ve never crossed the fpv threshold because I was worried that I wouldn’t want to fly my other stuff. This DJI product looks sweet as hell. I’m gonna love it.

    Thanks for the honest review and big up for dropping the fly safe, fly smart message for pilots. Seen waaay too many videos of new flyers sending it over highways, crowded parks, open water, and city blocks. Also, have to agree about the smart batteries. Not worrying about my house burning down when charging is almost worth the price of admission alone. pricey but cheaper than buying a new house. I gotta say as a new flyer I have found the panic button a really great and useable tool while slowly learning Acro mode. As soon as I get freaked out on the sticks I hit that button and it's all good. I figure once I can fly confidently ill move over to a real fpv drone and it won't just be me crashing all day long and if I do it will hold up better. well, that's the hope anyway.

  • @BigDuke6ixx
    @BigDuke6ixx 2 роки тому +1

    On the weak props: when you crash into a planet the energy has to be dissipated somehow. If the strengthen the props then the forces transfer through them to something else, which will probably break and cost more to replace. Also, more strength normally equates to more weight thus more energy in a crash and a vicious circle ensues. Golden rule with aviation: don't crash!

I love my fpv quads, but will probably buy one of these, if and when I can afford one, to replace whatever camera drone I have at the time. Your review here is excellent and very fair and further steers me toward the ultimate camera drone for me; smooth, cinematic style flights with the added security of DJI systems. It'll never replace my 'normal' fpv quads but would be a great additional tool when at scenic locations. Great video 🙂🙂

    Tired of everyone saying how expensive this drone is......I just watched another review on a RTF FPV drone all inclusive package with Goggles, Batteries, Props, etc etc......and this was also an entry level drone and the price was $1995.00. The DJI FPV drone is all inclusive with more features than you get on regular FPV drones for $1200.00. Like you said in your review @OriginaldoBo you can fly this thing in Normal or Sport forever and never ever even go into Acro or Manual! One of the issues with a lot of reviews on the DJI FPV drone is they are having seasoned FPV pilots review it........Hell DJI! I've never flown an FPV, give me one and I'll review it!!!

  • @metasamsara
    @metasamsara 3 роки тому +2

    Love the honest and unfiltered review. I'm still unsure if it's worth it to go the lazy way for my first FPV drone... But at the same time, I love the digital video, but again, it's not very customizable. I want a drone that can do real FPV freestyle but also really good cinematic shots, and the ability to change lens and such for instance upgrading it to have lateral rotation too. I really don't like that it's not modular and repairable DIY for bigger damages. If I destroyed a 1250eur that would be the end of it no second purchase. A DIY drone is just more forgiving, once past the hassle of figuring out how to get started...

    Propowash: there's a "column" of air made by your props constantly under your drone. A "prop wash" happens when you end up inside that column right below you, for example if you steer around 90 degrees after a dive or you're suddenly turning 180 degrees while racing through gates. Thanks to its weight and the inertia, that will push your drone inside that "column" of air and, since that air is pushed in the same direction by your props once you've turned the drone, it'll basically cancel your push, and you'll need to compensate by giving a lot more throttle. It's always better to avoid that, some smaller drones behave unpredictably during propwash and some bigger ones doesn't have enough power to compensate, making them crash if too close to land

    It needs max auto ISO/locked shutter for ND filter use like a GoPro, way less sharpening, some work on the noise in the shadows and allow things like disabling the auto RTH at 25% battery. Flight performance could definitely be improved drastically with tuning. They need to allow a post-stabilization workflow either with their own software or gyro embedded in the metadata. They need an accessory to lock or reduce the soft-mount. Light breezes can shift the camera. In the goggles it looks like the drone can't even track in a straight line because of it. The only real use it has for experienced pilots is flying far over water or in sketchy RF conditions.

    People have different tastes on what they want I guess with these drones. I have it and I love love love this drone. The ant crash tech is great, its not cheap especially after to add up all the extra you buy for it, charging strip ,2 extra batts, Vinyl skin, Goggles upgrades, controller anetenna extend, extra goggles batt, carrying case $3k , I almost regret insurance But I have yet to fly manual. Sport is 60mph, I like the extra detail in the vid ,in fact I love it. I just got the filters, love the added turtle mode. I have not crashed or even chopped anything, I bubmped a power line going straight up out of view and not a scratch or issue. I did buy the carbon fiber quiet props and returned them,. They are NOT the same design, they are flatter than the OEM props that have a twist to them and it noticeably effects the control in flight, especially take off and landing. It took off and was going backwards and was seeming to be more unstable so I returned them. Stick with the OEM props. I wish that the camera had zoom in and out capability , it goes up and down only. I also hope there is a night vision green screen camera we can add later to this to convert it to pitch black night drone for off road camping recon in the dark. Would be a huge capability. I liked it so much I bought every bell and whistle, even the FIRERCRacker LED , IS KILLER. I bought the walkera 210 deluxe and the build sucks compared to this and you really notice how good this one is, the walkera is gonna crash and the batt life is a joke. This one has a decsent batt life its more than OK. They all freakin lie about batt time -it pisses me off actually , they need to tell buyers how long the damn thing can fly, period. The walkera 210 claims 9min , its half that. Thats a joke , and its start beeping in vein when its getting low so only few min , DJI fpv you can fly solid 12 min in sport manual is more, the faster you go the shorter fly time.

    I wanna see you take the guts out of the DJI FPV and put them on a custom frame! I heard you talk about this and I would like to see how it goes. If it works, I would do it as well.

    How did you get 12 minutes in manual mode? I get 5-6 minutes in sport mode? Wouldn’t sport mode use less battery? Just curious.

    Great Review, after 30 days, Ken. I agree, not everyone has to fly manual mode. Craig, aka Dad Random, has great videos just using normal and sports mode. I really believe that dji meant this drone to fly more cinematic miles rather than manual.

    Great Video, I've had my DJI FPV for a couple of weeks, I've noticed that I'm flying the FPV a lot higher, and further with the FPV than with my Mavic 2P, Mini 2, MA2, and P4 v2, I'm guessing this could be because of the Goggles, and having the view of the signal strengths right in your face, although I haven't flown in manual mode yet, I've found Sport Mode to be very good. If anything, this FPV Drone has shown me that I can push the Mavics to their full potentials and not have tom worry so much about losing them over the Bay

      Did you experience any motion sickens? How was the feeling on first flight. I tried VR goggles once with a rollercoaster sim. Fast movement and losing that horizon level made me dizzy after 1-2 minutes already.

    • @SirIronJim
      @SirIronJim 3 роки тому +2

      @@eco999 I got some dizziness when using the virtual simulator, however, actual flight outside, the experience was completely different, I haven’t tried manual mode outside, just normal and sport mode, there are times when I feel that I’m leaning slightly when making bank turns, other than that, it’s all good.

    The kick out will depend on how much battery it need to fight the wind to get back light winds mabay only need 20 percent but 8 to 9 knots of wind might need 45 percent battery 🔋

    Comprehensible review, as usual 👍
    BTW: Because mode N or S disarms the start stop button. I use the flight mode switch as a prearm switch.

      Hi, could you please explain this comment to a drone noob? lol

    • @avronaut
      @avronaut 3 роки тому

      @@x1c3x: Many FPV pilots double-protect the start of the motors. So you have to operate 2 switches to start the motors. Since there is no free switch assignment with the DJI Racer, I use the mode switch as a prearm switch as the first switch and the start / stop switch as a second switch for manual mode flight. The motors can only be switched on for manual flights if the mode switch is set to M and then the start / stop switch is pressed twice.

    I crashed in Sport Mode... My fault haha, almost cried, crashed against a tree cuz instead of lift, I panicked and went forward. Good thing I had warranty and bestbuy gave me a new one. But in the downside I had to buy the warranty again. But... It was worth it since I broke two arms and the camera, it was horrible. So be careful!! So far now, I love it!!

    Well Said brother. Im waiting for the air unit 2 that'll work with this controller and goggles.......and also a firmware update for a better pid tune, frame rate selection, hopefully better low light, and better stability. Would be super cool to integrate sliders like the onewheel did in their app. It may not give you all the controls but at least let us have some control that's limited within safety reasoning.
