    Outstanding video, as always!
A greatest hits or "best of" compilation can sometimes be a good starting point for a new listener of the featured artist.
As you know, sometimes the record company would add an extra track of a rare or new song to entice those who may already own the rest of the artists catalog.
A hits compilation may vary depending on which area of the world it was released in .A hit in one country may not have even charted in another, and there might be a different mix or even an alternate language version of a song.
Sometimes they'd release a "best of" (not necessarily charting hits) and there'd be a few songs missing - that you would've preferred over some of the included choices. You'd end up mumbling to yourself "who was in charge of compiling this". Haha
In previous eras having a hits or best of release often symbolized an important milestone in an artists career.
Good observation about how the importance or desirability of such compilations (for the mainstream market) has changed in recent years.
All great choices on your list. That Al Green collection is classic and unstoppable.
