not the best performance i've seen of this piece, but definately the best cello playing i've ever seen. She plays so fiercely ,then so softly right after, her tone is always top notch and she does all this while still being visually apealing, bravo
6:30 she doesn't wanna see her own cello, only fall in love with violin tempo.
The BEST performance of Passacaglia for Violin and Cello in years. Cello phenom Han Na Chang is amazing. A picture perfect, wonderfully nuanced, superbly paced performance by both virtuosos.
Absolutely astonishing, such cello playing is possible at all. Privileged to be alive and able to listen to her incredible, magnificent cello playing. Composers may throw fastest passages at her. Will be met with lightening speed, crisp, fabulously articulated, rock-solid precision, unwavering, supremely confident playing. Her music comes from the depth of her soul and musical sensitivity, stormy, heroic, mournful, sweet, poetic, magical. Our souls bathe in miraculous sounds, colors of Han-Na.
Han Na's play was amazing, powerful and inspiring with fully interpreted emotion and tension..but it was kind of sad to see the violinist who simply seemed not to be listening to cello..he's just going on his way... But...Han Na, not to mention, corresponded with his violin so well.. OVERALL...this performance turned good in the end.(personal view)
She is the one who carried the song. The fluffy-haired-man rushed her especially in the end. I love the look she gave. She did her best to follow that guy :)
I enjoyed this performance, thank you for posting. That level of play on this piece is uncommon. Ms. Chang plays beautifully. Commenting on the expression that shows on the face of musicians is totally not cool. I think she looks marvelously absorbed in delivering the best experience to her public. Many thanks.
Novice here. But I must say this is like a beautiful piece of art but in music. She was definitely a diamond master of the Cello as he was with his violin. Bravo to these two of the greatest and magnificent muscians!!!!!!
I love the part onwards 6:35 you can see smile on her face as the tempo climbs to the climax! Also the admiration of another musician in the background ( the guy in the middle seat). He is applauding with enthusiasm and amazement! Just a great video! :)
Great violinist....deeply musical and committed playing. Saying that the cellist is a phenomenal instrumentalist is a vast understatement. In addition, the cellist has a perfect sense of rhythm. The latter will serve her well in her new profession, namely as a conductor.
i think the violinist should also be commended here. we should at least know his name. This is afterall a piece with a definite high level of technicality for both instruments, which was executed here with grace and beauty and a unique style.
I know who the violinist is but his high notes in the end are amazing. And Han Na Chang sounds so powerful. What an amazing interpretation. Great! Excellent!
i am agree with you she is so perfect playing her chello, since the first time I saw a video of her, I thouth Oh what an amazing girl, is so young but plays like and oder and expert chellist
6:40 MIND BLOWN. Speechless. Just when I thought "wooo hooo! Look at me! I'm in Honors Orchestra!" I *WILL* get to their level! Even if it takes me the next 50 years!
How could you guys say she's a robot. Do you not see how into the music she is! And the concert master. Wow you heard a squeak! You cannot tell me that you have never heard a violinist squeak. They all make mistakes and that's only a minor thing. I have been playing for 8 years abd I still sometime squeak when I slur to an open e. Stop being so judgmental god people!
Spot on!!! I actually study privately with a very well trained and experienced teacher and even he admits that when switching to e string, it's very easy to squeak and it happens a lot. Even the best violin players can let out a squeak very easily.
my most favourite bit was 6:38. the intense power at that bit really blew me away! i also really liked 2:23 and i also like how hanna kept on staring at the afro guy to keep up with him! i don`t know why people are bashing how they played this piece, i think it was spectacular!
What a fun piece, how the violin and cello play back and forth and intertwine with each other. And as usual, Ha-na Chang does a wonderful job (and the violinist too -- I just don't know him).
You can definetely distinguish who of the two is most talented... At 1:04 he's just reading it straight off the paper, no interpretation at all, like he feels undervalued because Han na is playing the next solo ....
The guy behind him is also sometimes laughing ^^ facts: he messed the start! That was terrible! He hits the strings..ahhh pfui. but he gets better while playing : ))) They are awesome... i love it : ) 3:10 to 4:14 is very very nice...
I love this piece. I like a bit faster but I could notice many things that I haven't heard!! Favorite and Like!! And yes, he isn't Itzhak Pearlman but he plays very very good.
Please keep in mind that the violinist is neither Perlman nor Heifetz. He is the concertmaster of this small chamber orchestra of Berlin, and playing this encore was just... an encore. It was just for fun. If you still feel that you have to criticise him, tell me a concertmaster who could play it better.
lol : ) his HAIR ! : ) so funny wobbling around...rofl. this is very nice, some is strange or even bad, but it is still very good and very nice. But that guy makes me falling down laughing :D
i think he plays the violin with character.. you see it looks apart of him..as well as Hanna Chang. i like his poof too!! loll...he plays it like a fantasy...try summin , watch it with out looking at it..just listen. Its so much more spectacular when you create your own mood. this piece is lovely..luv at 2:20 ma favv!!.
No, I won't give him a break. He is obviously nervous, but he is also on stage with Han-Na Chang. No excuses. Listen to Jansen and Rachlin. That is how it should be done.
not the best performance i've seen of this piece, but definately the best cello playing i've ever seen. She plays so fiercely ,then so softly right after, her tone is always top notch and she does all this while still being visually apealing, bravo
Unbelievable! The cellist is perfect.

the cellist is wonderful, so light, so powerful
The BEST performance of Passacaglia for Violin and Cello in years. Cello phenom Han Na Chang is amazing. A picture perfect, wonderfully nuanced, superbly paced performance by both virtuosos.
Absolutely astonishing, such cello playing is possible at all. Privileged to be alive and able to listen to her incredible, magnificent cello playing. Composers may throw fastest passages at her. I've been watching this video for years, and it gives me goose bumps every time; I love it so much! Can't wait to perform this myself :)
Han Na's play was amazing, powerful and inspiring with fully interpreted emotion and tension..but it was kind of sad to see the violinist who simply seemed not to be listening to cello..he's just going on his way... what is name of the fluffy-haired-man?
I agree i cant agree with you more she is amazing
Masht Ali Lorenz Nasturica - 1. Concertmaster Münchner Philharmoniker.
Yeah I completely agree.
Yes, totally
this violinist is concertmaster of Munchen Philharmonich ,and other people from this "small orchestra" are members of Berlin Philharmonich.
6:39 Guy in the back: "Hey Ron, check this part out"
Chang makes the most amazing faces when she plays! : ) Beautiful piece. Nive video too!

Thank you
I think she does and absolutely amazing job here of singlehandedly keeping it together.
My favorite cellist.
Han Na is new discovery for me, so thank you so much for sharing this.
well done HAN No one can ever play this piece with the passion or intensity. She is amazing.
The cellist is so insane lmao this is funny to listen to cause of the skill difference between the 2
This was so great.... I play violin and envy the beautiful sounds that cello can make... :')
Absolutely extraordinary!! Brought me to tears!
I love the part onwards 6:35 you can see smile on her face as the tempo climbs to the climax!
Also the admiration of another musician in the background ( the guy in the middle seat). He is applauding with enthusiasm and amazement! Just a great video! :)

omg look at her face xD, She's like "ah, this is easy and funny~"
These People are great! The two instruments (range, tonality and such) fit so well together.
i think the violinist should also be commended here. we should at least know his name. This is afterall a piece with a definite high level of technicality for both instruments, which was executed here with grace and beauty and a unique style.
Lorenz Nasturica. stunnung itself. i've fallen in love with him.
Heard this many times, but never with such deftness of touch or exciting contrasts! Brava, bravo!
This piece is definitely one of my favorite cello violin duets :)
Very supportive cello player
Brilliant!
because this stuff is just so good. I'm not even kidding. Watching this on replay for 4 hours, holla at me.
I love the guy behind him. He is sort of smirking the entire time.
It looks like he's thinking he could do better.
BOTH ARE AMAZING !!!
I know who the violinist is but his high notes in the end are amazing. And Han Na Chang sounds so powerful. What an amazing interpretation. Great! Excellent!
outstanding performance
i am agree with you she is so perfect playing her chello, since the first time I saw a video of her, I thouth Oh what an amazing girl, is so young but plays like and oder and expert chellist
She was and is probably the best cellist. Honored to see her perform.
waahhh. this piece never seizes to astonish me everytime..
i cant breath.exelent performance.BRAVOOOOOOOO
so sad that they didnt start together
oh my god. I just lost my words. Totally unbelievably beautiful.
Fantásticos. Essa celista é muito musical.
love this piece!!!!!!
6:40 MIND BLOWN. Speechless. Just when I thought "wooo hooo! Look at me! I'm in Honors Orchestra!" I *WILL* get to their level! Even if it takes me the next 50 years!
Wonderful!!!

Sarah Hooper Absolutely right! and fantastic performance fantastic dynamics
Spot on!!! I actually study privately with a very well trained and experienced teacher and even he admits that when switching to e string, it's very easy to squeak and it happens a lot. Even the best violin players can let out a squeak very easily.
Sarah Hooper I said nothing
Listen this to see how must be played by the cello ua-cam.com/video/cWvN-_m3qoY/v-deo.html
I like her confidence. she knows she is the goddess of cello.
indescribable... i cant believe what i just saw... :0 AMAZING PERFORMANCE!!
this lady plays the cello so well...
Herr Strehle is behind de cellist. Fantastic violist and my teacher in Berlim. Abraços
the ending was amazing!
My god this is the best version i think these musicians are fantastics, i love it, the girl is beautiful and really really exresive,
my most favourite bit was 6:38. the intense power at that bit really blew me away! i also really liked 2:23 and i also like how hanna kept on staring at the afro guy to keep up with him! i don`t know why people are bashing how they played this piece, i think it was spectacular!
the two instruments come together so beautifully XD
She has more talent
Best of the best Passacaglia
Nicely played
What a fun piece, how the violin and cello play back and forth and intertwine with each other. And as usual, Ha-na Chang does a wonderful job (and the violinist too -- I just don't know him).
It seems that 47 people where so entranced by Han Na Chang that they missed the "like" button by mistake.
Just wonderful...
but the celloist was amazing:)
You can definetely distinguish who of the two is most talented... At 1:04 he's just reading it straight off the paper, no interpretation at all, like he feels undervalued because Han na is playing the next solo ....
The guy behind him is also sometimes laughing ^^

I love this piece.
I like a bit faster but I could notice many things that I haven't heard!!
Favorite and Like!!
And yes, he isn't Itzhak Pearlman but he plays very very good.
She is not sloppy. In fact people recognize her for her amazingly clean playing. I don't see how she's "sloppy".
6:26 the guy behind hanna chang nods appreciatively after she nails that difficult phrase.
the violinist squeeks, 5:30 look at han na changs face! LOL!
I just love this
The expression on the faces of the two violinists behind them are hilarious. The one on the left looks like he's trying to contain himself.
Bravo for the performance!!!
But i think you need to put the violinist name at least. His name is Lorenz Nasturica-Herschcowici by the way.
BRAVO!!!
Really good
he is a star
Please keep in mind that the violinist is neither Perlman nor Heifetz. He is the concertmaster of this small chamber orchestra of Berlin, and playing this encore was just... an encore. It was just for fun. If you still feel that you have to criticise him, tell me a concertmaster who could play it better.
Guy Braunstein, Gordon Nikolitch, Wilma Smith...
Should I go on?
+QuoteToad Jr Yes
Albert Müller I agree with you.
increibleeee
very good speed.
Favorites list!
lol : ) his HAIR ! : ) so funny wobbling around...rofl. this is very nice, some is strange or even bad, but it is still very good and very nice. But that guy makes me falling down laughing :D
Muito bom...
Sweet baby jesus that was good!
She's cooool
excellent. 5 stars
Music is light
what was this an encore to? and is there a preformance of the peice that they where prefoming?
Thanks for the insight.
the first few min. i didnt like it but then as it kept going i was like holy crap!!! this is freakin great!
That dude has super awesome hair! But can rock the violin!
me encanta mucho
thank you!
Divino...
i think he plays the violin with character.. you see it looks apart of him..as well as Hanna Chang. i like his poof too!! loll...he plays it like a fantasy...try summin , watch it with out looking at it..just listen. Its so much more spectacular when you create your own mood. this piece is lovely..luv at 2:20 ma favv!!.
No, I won't give him a break. He is obviously nervous, but he is also on stage with Han-Na Chang. No excuses.
Listen to Jansen and Rachlin. That is how it should be done.
merci beaucoup ~!
