"Bunga Sayang" was composed by Dick Lee. Peranakan folk music is noted for its fusion of English in Malay-inspired tunes, largely because the Peranakans themselves are often conversant in both languages. Contemporary tunes continue to be composed based on the Peranakan culture, such as "Bunga Sayang", a theme song from Dick Lee's musical "Kampung Amber". The song became an often-sung staple of the National Day Parade, and gained international exposure when it was performed for the opening ceremony of the 117th IOC Session at the Esplanade.

The Talentime 2001 second runner-up became popular through his song, Kaulah Segalanya (You're Everything), which did well on Singapore and Malaysia radio charts. His EP sold 1,000 copies here within six months - a feat by local industry standards. Currently Hazrul is a member of Vocaluptuous which is well-known for its R&B, Pop, Acappella and Jazz performances.

It is now showing a video in Changi Airport Terminal 4 with the story of Peranakan.It tells a very lovely story about Singapore's history and Peranakan. I can't seem to sleep tonight because of this song.
