Just read her article in Scientific American trying to debunk the long standing theory that men were evolved to hunt and women to gather. This is what happens when an ideologue abandons critical thinking. She actually makes the claim that women are superior to men in endurance sports (spectacularly false) so therefore were better able to hunt game. She equates the former belief with the assumption of male superiority.
This article getting published at all permanently tarnishes what was once a respected publication.

How many anthropologists theorizing about roles and gender in the past have actually hunted? Seems a lot like sports journalists who never played the sport.

It is completely ridiculous to claim that women have a better aptitude for hunting than men. In almost every sport, men perform significantly better than women! she bases all this information on weakly substantiated 'evidence' about just a few archaeological discoveries and a metabolism that would work a little better in women?

So, if I was in a marathon, and crawled all the way, my pace maintained the entire time, where would I fit on those graphs?
    I'd be the best right?

Wow so pleased to find this now! Yes, I agree with equal taxpayer funded research for separate genders! Because I tracked NSF grants requiring drug testing for both genders to obtain funding……..then I found results with 499 males and 1 female aged 65! The equivalent of a snicker. Also believe separate gender results are the safest way for more accurate data results. It doesn’t make sense to force mush results, then require drugs react identically across genders. They don’t!

This was a very interesting talk, thanks for sharing this information. I wondered how the age of the estrogen hormone was determined? It is fascinating to see how a preexisting chemical has presumably been recruited as the main female reproductive hormone .
