    I have the Expansion Module for my 1000 LI and two Expansion Batteries. I have the car cables, but have not attempted to connect them. Did you by chance film the process of connecting the cables to your battery or alternator? Thanks for the video.

    Has anyone had trouble with the expansion tanks not charging to 4 lights? I have a yeti 1000 and 2 tanks. The tank indicator was at 4 lights and all of a sudden went to 3 have had it plugged to the wall outlet for days and no 4th light..

    If using this yeti link, you can't use the goal zero mppt controller..
    Could you plug an aftermarket mppt controler into the power pole input on the left?

      The X type yeti all have mppt build in. FYI

    Did you hook your Yeti up to a Switched 12v in your vehicle or to a Constant 12v

    Thanks for tutorial. I’m trying to remove the yeti link from my 3000x to check the wires. Having trouble removing it. How do you do that, please? Removed screws, unplugged from rear. Does it lift out?

      Don’t have 3000x. The one I have is simply take the screws off, lift it, unplug the connection and that is it.

    Hello, and thank you for the info. I just installed battery isolator, new Optima yellow top auxillary battery in my 2018 chevy silverado pickup truck. I'm thinking about running the goal zero wiring under my truck, along the frame, and drilling a hole in my cargo bed (I have a camper shell on) to connect to my goal zero 1400. Any thoughts?

    I am getting the expansion tanks and the car charger can you charge both at the same time with the car? I have 3000.

      Check out this link: www.goalzero.com/shop/kits/yeti-link-car-charging-kit/
      Under Q&A, Goal Zero support states the following:
      "The Yeti Link will stay in Car mode until you manually change it back to Tank mode. If moving the unit from your vehicle to then chain it to the Tank batteries in your home, you will need to change the Link from Car Mode to Tank Mode."

    I’ve got the same deal going on. I have a Yeti1000 from Costco and a fridge for the car. Just got the Link to improve charging since the cigarette lighter charger doesn’t put out enough. But dang, that cable is think. Not sure how I’m going to get it through the firewall. That would be a pretty big hole. What did you do?

    • @ToolsReview
      @ToolsReview  4 роки тому

      I used the existing hole that was already there. Made a hole on the rubber, managed to get the cable through and sealed the new cut / hole I made - I was very carful not to cut my car's wiring since it is not the easiest place to work in - my back wasn't happy with me :)). Not perfect but I felt it was better than drilling a new hole on the firewall structure of the vehicle. I have gone to a couple of trips with this setup already, I am very pleased with it.

      Yeah damn that looks pretty big to have to try to get it through the grommet. Not just the cable but that plug.

    I've had two of these links plugged into two different yetis 1000Xs and I don't really see them charging my Yetiis. I have this hooked up to two tanks that are fully charged according to the LED indicator on this link. I don't know what's going on with it though. I can't get any power to go from my tanks into my yeti 1000x via this link module. Is there something I'm missing here? I plugged everything in according to the instructions.

      100% agree. I have to say, after using it a couple of times, I like it even more. The 12 ft cable should have been 15 ft to give more room for routing. I like the flexibility of being able to have a portable power source instead of adding a fixed 2nd car battery. I would like to see this at a lower cost for sure.

    When you plug solar into the yeti link is it a mppt controller?

    • @ToolsReview
      @ToolsReview  4 роки тому

      I don't believe so. You can either have the Link installed or the MPPT.

    anyone do this on a yeti 1500x or any X series yet?

    • @ToolsReview
      @ToolsReview  3 роки тому

      Goal Zero released a new version of the expansion module that is compatible with the newer X models. They have also updated their cables - adding a fuse and cable terminal lock due to a recent recall.

    • @WhatsMyGear
      @WhatsMyGear 3 роки тому +1

      @@ToolsReview since they are out of stock on the cables, and I need the hookup for a trip, i am making my own ec8 to ring cable, using 8awg and adding a 50A fuse to the line. Going to control it with a 50Amp or greater relay hooked to one of my upfitter switches

    This product is defective and will catch fire in your vehicle. I highly recommend removing it before it damages your vehicle. Mine caught on fire and nearly burned my truck to the ground.

      I believe they’ve fixed it - connections are beefier and they all have plastic pieces to hold cables either together or in.
