Viper, be careful not to confuse Henry the Lion with Richard the Lionhearted. Richard the Lionhearted was the king of England and the guy who appeared at the end of the Saladin campaign. Henry the Lion was Duke of Saxony and vassal to Barbarossa. If you mix them up, the final mission of this campaign might be a little confusing.
Actually I was wondering about that. I remember a campaign where a richard hero appears and says something, are these my teutonic reinforcements? Which campaign is it?
Protip, Viper: if a player starts with a 40000 score, they probably have 99999 (the max value you can give as base resources in the scen editor) of everything. Messing around with the Map Editor for a decade or so will teach you stuff like that!
Love Viper's sense of humor 11 The pronunciations of "The cleansing of the Loire", "Hsi Hsia (China)", "4 of 6 relics from german 'douchebags'" etc will forever stick in my memory 11 Think he should do a compilation video of his struggles with the names at the very end of the campaign series, that would be epic :D
Protip: If you don't attack the polish army they go into Henrys base and destroy everything because the aren't allied with him but he is :D Oh and you could have made trade carts PS: it's funny and interesting to see your attempts, since I already played every mission like 3 times (I play more single player)
Trible_G yes that's how I supply myself. a few trade carts and a few fishing ships built in shelter of my castle. even when I get access to vills, I still dont use them for resources as I like roleplaying having the German states feeding my army. tute knights in rams with a few knights make for a great counter for Poland
Henry the Lion (German: Heinrich der Löwe; 1129/1131 - 6 August 1195) was a member of the Welf dynasty and Duke of Saxony, as Henry III, from 1142, and Duke of Bavaria, as Henry XII, from 1156, the duchies of which he held until 1180. He was one of the most powerful German princes of his time, until the rival Hohenstaufen dynasty succeeded in isolating him and eventually deprived him of his duchies of Bavaria and Saxony during the reign of his cousin Frederick I Barbarossa and of Frederick's son and successor Henry VI. At the height of his reign, Henry ruled over a vast territory stretching from the coast of the North and Baltic Seas to the Alps, and from Westphalia to Pomerania. Henry achieved this great power in part by his political and military acumen and in part through the legacies of his four grandparents.
They didn't really do much with the villagerless concept in this one. It would've been cool if they had given you more resources in each transaction, but you also don't get villagers. Now that Feitorias are a thing, it'd be cool if someone made a scenario where they are the sole resource generator you've got. There'd probably have to be a mod to buff them for that to work, though.
At this point, I was "wait, I've never experienced/saw allied buildings being drop points for your villagers or whatsoever before". I played a lot of AoE II in my life (most downloaded campaigns), and I never saw that before. And it means that single player works different than multi player regarding this occurrence? Kind of funny the massive sling that Viper received after doing that, haha
Indeed, you do get the resources. I learned this once when I accidentally deleted my lumber camp on land nomad as the Huns and didn't have the wood to build a second, so once my ally made a TC I chopped wood and garrisoned inside it until I could build the lumber camp 11
One of my least favorite missions in the entire game. It just feels boring, Poland only ever makes huskarls so it's easy to counter with knights both Teutonic and regular, Henry the Lion doesn't really do that much, and towards the end you're just hunting around for Poland's last buildings because they don't have an eco (the 40k score on him and Henry is probably a massive bank of resources). But I'm a bit surprised it took you longer to finish this one than the last one where you're basically 1v6. ;) The next four missions are all quite challenging, though. Looking forward to them!
you don't want to use the alarm if possible because it makes you ENTIRE economy go idlle (and it might also cause the wrong vills to garrison and the important ones tu simply stay)
They get faster for each infantry unit garrisoned and also deal extra damage for each infantry unit. Although you can garrison archers, they will not increase speed or attack,
TheViperAOC - Age of Empires 2 They go faster with more infantry. The kind of infantry doesn't matter. So Rams + TKs makes two slow units faster then normal speed units. It's a pretty good combo.
didn't you get the wood when garrisoning your vils inside saxony's TC? It was at least going up as they went in, so i don't think that actually works for giving your ally the ressources. At least not in the campaign...
In Age of Empires II multiplayer it works the way that your ally will receive the resources. I'm not sure if they changed anything in the HD edition or if it's just the campaign.
hey viper i got a cool tip for you on the next mission in mission 3 you are suppose to steal enemy villagers but dont do that it takes a while. instead go to your ally set him to neutral and steal his villagers. your ally wont attack you and hes basically useless anyway so dont feel bad for taking them. hope you have fun with this gl.
SPOILERS On the other hand, it allows you to get rid of a potential enemy almost immediately at the start, by stealing his economic production. But converting the ally is not a bad idea indeed
I knew Henry was going to betray me the first time I played. I mean having an ally with that much score means it would be way too easy if they helped you. And if they didn't help you, then there is no reason for them to have that much resources. Unless you verse them. I used so many save slots because I thought it was going to be crazy hard. Lel.
I never knew there were villages to save in the corner. I made trade carts and traded with green for gold to buy the resources I needed. It was a pain in the ass because I had to make sure I defended the few production buildings given to you at the beginning.
Tip: if you have some villagers (5 with hand cart) and enough wood to build a farm but not enough to build a lumber camp... Make your vills collect 20 wood each, make them build a farm all together; once the famr is built, the collected wood will go to your stockpile; congrats, you have now 100 wood, you can built a lumber camp. Repeat for "infinite wood".
40k score is usually because the player has 99999 of each resource in bank. In the scenario editor, 99999 being the maximum you can set as starting resources, it would make sense that both Henry the Lion and Poland have unlimited amounts of resources that explain their dramatically high (and totally un-representative) scores.
Someone at Ensemble Studios could not into copy-paste: Saxony gave x food in tribute to you. Saxony gave x wood in tribute to you. Saxony gave x gold in tribute to you. *Saxony gave 0 gold in tribute to you.* Hint: Bavaria *does* give you stone.
Me playing this mission, I put the spearmen protecting green's base. Poland just ignored them and I just figured it out in the late game, with a green base destroyied.
I get irked he’s initially confused about where his resources come from, literally says Bavaria and Saxony are “Feeding his army” kind of a dead giveaway that if you want resources you need to defend them. At least he gets it after five minutes or so. I hate autocorrect, it screws up my sentences if I type too fast.
Viper should replay some of these on definitive edition, there's a bunch of good civ changes, especially on ones like this where the goths are rather out of place
23:39 You totally missed the blue Mangonel in your base. I'm getting really worried about you. Why do you seem to notice these things in multiplayer games but not in the campaigns?
Hello Viper, the speed of the ram depends on number of garrison units and whether those units are melee or archers, it doesn't depends on the unit itself. For example, ram full of Teutonic Knights moves as fast as the ram full of Woad Raiders, and both are faster than ram with Crossbowmen inside it (as usual Spirit of the Law covers this). And nice campaign :) Can't wait to see you in last campaign.
FWIW you can build a TC as soon as you get vils if you build 3 rams and 2 knights and storm Henry's castle right at the start. You should be slung at least 100 stone during that, if not you should have enough gold available to buy some stone, and you should have enough wood as it is.
I enjoy how you playing. Its funny and great tutorials. However this time you play as Teutons without any Teutonic knights. The gameplay was like any other generic civ. All army are just knights plus some rams. When else you should play with teutonic knights than at scenarios? Anyway, nice video. GL HF
I think it's more for pros and stuff, I enjoy mods that make the trees larger and all the terrain cool and gritty, although it hinders visibility and kinda throws the grid off, I just think it looks better and more realistic
Yeah man, selecting can be a pain, like for example trying to select a small building behind a large one, like a lumber camp or worse even a palisade wall behind a castle. Usually what I end up doing in those cases is making another building like the one I want to delete, double clicking it and then selecting the one I want to delete from the selected units interface. It doesn't always work, it's pretty bad :D
Maybe because this predates Nazism. Your comment is holding a civilization of the past accountable for a thing they haven’t even begun to fathom, for like hundreds of years into the future, that’d be like going to the age of the Holy Wars and stating “Good Job you guys, for ensuring suicide Bombers in the Middle East”. Also calling a German an Nazi is so mainstream, it’s not even funny. That joke wore thin in the 80’s, *_its time to STOP_* 🛑
The first minutes were cringy as hell, i love how good players play but sometimes they think they're too good and don't even bother reading or looking at things that don't have their name in them.
Viper's logic : I'm being attacked by huskarls... hmmm. I will just micro my crossbowmen to kill them. Teutonic knights are for noobs anyway.

They really could have increased the number of units that Poland and Henry produced on harder difficulties. There isn't much of a difference.
some of the scenarios are reworked in the workshop for the the forgotten dlc, they seemed harder to me

4 missions to saracen attack!
that mission is by far the easiest in the whole game. You build 2 petards, blow the wall, and just go in blue's base with everything you have.
Hey, don't give viper any hints man :p
dfectedRO thats the cheesy way we wanna see the hard way otherwise riot!!
Don't post hints please. Viper doesn't want any help at all, the less he knows the better.
TheViper doesn't need hints, he's going to break the campaign scripted events without even knowing it.

That 40 k score threw me off too, didnt know AI could bluff
it is because both henry and poland are given a ton of resources because they don't have any villagers.
Andrei Ionescu 40000 score means they have 99999 of each resource, which is the max resources you can assign in the scenario editor
Ooh, didn't know that, thanks
they also probably start with the whole map revealed through triggers or somethin'
Henry the Lion isn't a hero in AoE 2. Maybe you confused him with Richard the Lionheart, Henry II or Henry V, who are heroes.
You might be right there.
Just a heads up (spoilers):
Throughout the campaign, Henry the lion behaves like t90 on team games
*Frnkn shw lol what
Henry is the body, Richard is the heart

In order to not put the great Viper in a bad light let's simply say: Both, the ally and TheViper, got some resources.
At this point, I was "wait, I've never experienced/saw allied buildings being drop points for your villagers or whatsoever before". I played a lot of AoE II in my life (most downloaded campaigns), and I never saw that before. And it means that single player works different than multi player regarding this occurrence? Yea same for me, lost my TC in Multiplayer game and needed some more wood for new tc and just went to friends TC to collect the wood.
Dam. Thats new stuff. Not very use but still...
yes, garrisoning infantry inside the rams makes rams go faster
I guess this confirms that the Viper is indeed not spirit fo the law XD
That's why they aren't rams, they are ferraris 25:47 Ruined that huskarl's weekend ride
I believe he was questioning whether garrisoning MORE units would make the rams go faster than with just one.
2ariot2 And, yes, it does. Garrisoned infantry also increases damage to buildings.
I think Viper should watch the Spirit's video about ram speeds.
The actual hero that can be seen in a campaign (AoC Battles of the Conquerors) is Henry V, not Henry the Lion.
Both Henry the Lion and Poland have 99999 of all resources which gives them their crazy score.
Yes. You get 1 point for each 10 of resources.
One of my least favorite missions in the entire game. I've always known rams are faster when garrisoned, but I still don't know if they're faster the more units are garrisoned. Feel free to enlighten me!
