This is from their debut album. Message in a Bottle is from their 2nd album, Reggatta de Blanc, which loosely translates to 'white reggae'. Great reaction!

“You don’t have to turn on the red light” In Amsterdam (Lowlands), some prostitutes sit in small rooms with like shop windows facing the street and they turn on a red light so that the men walking past outside know that they're “on duty”/available.

Sting modelled his vocals on Bob Marley in 1977, when drummer Stewart Copeland bought over his albums to Sting's new years eve party. Sting then started singing Jamaican, and playing reggae. Check out other Police tracks, Message In A Bottle, Walking On The Moon, Don't Stand So Close To Me, Can't Stand Losing You, Every Little Thing She Does Is Magic, Every Breath You Take, De Do Do Do, De Da Da Da, and So Lonely, which is a rip off of No Woman No Cry!

Sting on the vocals and bass guitar, Stewart Copeland on drums, and Andy Summers on guitar. Fantastic trio.

I saw them at Ratcliffe Stadium ( Fresno City College) in 1983. They performed along with Oingo Boingo, The Thompson Twins, and The Fixx. I think I only paid about $10 for the concert. Hours of music. Good times! Edit to add, they didn’t play in the stadium, just on the practice field outside. Maybe 300 to 400 people.

Nobody really reacts to Fela Kuti but he is the Black Bob Marley and the OG creator of "Afrobeat" music. It had the same political slant as Bob but from a Nigerian perspective. His sons carry on his tradition now. #FemiKuti #SeunKuti #Waternogetenemy #Oppositepeople

Ska and reggae were huge in the UK, from the 1950s onwards! The first reggae/ska number 1, in the UK was in the 60s. The first in the USA was in the 1980s and that was by a predominantly white British band - UB40! Bob Marley had most of his hits and reached the peak of his success, while based in London for 5 years. His father was a white British man, btw. Bob Marley was magnificent but there's a lot more to reggae than Bob Marley. Saying everything that is even vaguely reggae, sounds like Bob Marley is merely displaying ignorance of the genre. :)
