    What a masterpiece! (And thanks for the couple of Strauss's who accompanied the turning!) With your skills you will have this old bus in fine shape!

    For those of you that have purchased a VW bus or truck with the round lenses, here is something you should be aware of; do not over tighten the tail light mounting screws as the original lenses are glass and they will crack. Also these lenses were rare in 1989 when I owned a 1960 crewcab, to thwart theft put a second nut on the screw

    There's a company in Lincoln, Nebraska called AutoKraft that manufactures and markets these. Only theirs comes with brakes on the rollers so you can stop the vehicle at any position to work on it. They are very reasonably priced!! I don't work there, but they are restoring a car for me!!

    Why not make the rotisserie possible to dismantle? Like making the support legs bolt on and making the main hoop in 2 halves ? I think that would make it easier to both take off after the car is finished and storing it. :)

    Nice :)
    How do you hold/lock it in position? Any worries about front-to-back movement/load? Lastly, I feel like there should be at least one attachment point from the top of the vehicle to combat pull out forces on your hoop from the bottom attachment points...

    Hello Glideking, I would like to build a rotisserie like the one you made , would it be possible to tell me the diameter you had the steel rolled ? I live in England are are about to restore my 1966 camper. She is in a very poor state and requires a full chassis change. If I can make a rotisserie like yours and add some front to back support beams I think it will make restoration possible. Thanks Andy.

    amazing fabing. i see no track guides for it to stay on the rollers without coming off, its very well balanced. i still dont see why
    it doesnt fall of the track whats keeping it on?

    • @davidr4332

      Take note the circles are on the wheels the wheels are welded on a channel , the circle run though the channel that keeps it all in line for the wheels .............

      David R well it's freaking awesome, how tall are they?

    • @davidr4332
      @davidr4332 7 років тому +1

      Well that depend on what type of car your building ,, on the VW they look about 7 to 8 ft tall just guessing at that ...... you make it as big as you want as long as it don't touch the car and you have enough room to work around it ....

    I'm thinking about building one for a Dodge Fargo Panel Truck, but I'm worried about the weight and like you said.. the moment it needs to turn or roll over. If it rolls over and swings out of control, that would be a pain in the but. I've also got another idea about having it geared with an electric motor, but not sure if that's going to cost too much.

      +Andrew Pearce The whole story is documented here www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/view...
      Mount your bus high as you can for a decent balance. People have used smaller rings or mounted bus lower but they are bottom heavy and harder to rotate. The front ring must be mounted forward or rearward to clear the doors. You must be able to r&r the doors for restoration. There is a rotisserie thread on TheSamba.com that is full of opinions!
