I love how XSOLEIL lore gives a reason for why they together and why they stream, meanwhile to this day i still have no idea why Lazulight and Obsydia are a trio in the first place XD not saying this to depreciate the old waves but to appreciate how N EN lore improved over the year quite a lot. 💜🧚 I all for Selen and Pomu re writting their lore gonna miss Pomu one too it was so silly. yep, I would say, since Lexium they gave each wave a reason to be together. Since Luxeim and Noctyx are people who traveled from the past and the future so it make sense they had a bond. Iluna and Xsoleil are schoolmates who spend a lot of time together. But the other waves, god know why they are together lol.
And then Ethyria are all ethereal beings. A reincarnated immoral witch of time, a fallen angel, a godess of luck and a restless ghost who all happen to come together. Luxiem then are all from the past and Noctyx are all from the future, each person having a counterpart (Vox and Fulgur, the red LAM brothers, Alban and Mysta, the orange menaces, Mysta being a detective and Alban a thief ironically, Luca and Sonny, the rays of sunshine who also ironically happen to be opposites in how Sonny is an officer and Luca is a Mafia boss and finally, the blue creators, Ike and Yugo, Ike a writer who also writes and sings rock music and Yugo, the DJ who also was closely tied to rock (RIP Yugo... he shall be missed). Ike even cameoed in Yugo's lore video which strengthens the connection.) Then we have Iluna and XSoleil, the Scarlet and Violet of Nijisanji EN, the schools with respective counter parts, Iluna (or Scarlet) having ofc more stuff from the past (mainly Aia, Aster and Maria) and funnily enough having someone called, "Scarle" XSoleil (Violet) having the ones from the future (Zaion LanZa, Kotoka with her modern Gyaru-like personality, Doppio living in an Arcade) and then Meloco being the odd one out but also Violet being her general colour. Lazulight moreso seem to only have counterparts among Obsydia rather than also among themselves like with the other waves (bar Ethyria them being that one awkward anomaly that have counterparts within themselves, Nina and Reimu being each other's counterpart and Millie and Enna being the other pair). Pomu's counter would be Rosemi (the two floral beings, a fairy and a flower), Elira's counter being Selen (the two dragon girls, sisters or half-sisters iirc) and Finana's counter being Petra (the two aquatic duo's)
redebut? if Niji MGT allows it, why not? tbh, the 1st 3 waves' character concepts are quite interesting, but lacks lore. Ethyria somehow added more to theirs on their outfit reveals. I think Ethyria is good on their lore now, which leaves Lazulight and Obsydia to have better, more solid origins and added lore as almost immortal beings. If Selen can jumpstart this, that would be awesome!
Merryweather Comics are goated when it comes to writing lore, at this point you could compare them as Nijisanji's version of the Russo Brothers in the MCU.
I'm cool with them wanting to update their lore tying them to the rest of their wave, or redebuting with a new bigger budget video, but I'm not a fan of how serious or tragic so many of the backstories are now. Like, in the past 3 waves I think only Sonny and Ren have lore videos I wouldn't consider heavy. That's just 2/15 (I'm excluding Scarle here) I'm cool with some, just not when they're all like that. I think Luxiem had a good balance, for comparison.
