How do you set the set location, as well as the collar location for your given height?

Basically by trial and error. You can find tables and formulae but most of them do not cover an adequate range of sizes of people. So start with a standard rig and discover what difficulties you have. Then adjust the rig with a BIG change to resolve those difficulties. Then adjust in the opposite direction to be sure you have gone in the right direction. Keep records while you experiment. Eventually you should be making small changes. If you want more guidance I recommend that you enrol in Sculling Academy, scullingacademy.com.

@@StephenWalkerAhoy-Boats Excellent advice. I had begun doing that before your reply, so your words were comforting in my attempt to find a sweet spot. I did write down the numbers from where I started as well. Getting old means having to keep records. Ha ha. Have a good rowing season Stephen, and thanks for your time!

I hear creaking when you’re applying pressure to the footboard. Do the Edons tend to creak due to the polyethylene? That’s giving me pause when considering purchase.

I never noticed it until you mentioned it. I never notice it when sculling on the water. It might not be the stretcher at all. It might be the cradles that the boat is sitting on. I agree it would be annoying if that noise were present every stroke when rowing. But it isn't.

    No safety release for footstraps?

They are not needed as feet slip out easily. Flexible shoes are a risk because when they were introduced they just adapted running spikes which are designed to stay on your foot but clogs are not a risk. Flexible shoes need never have been introduced if boat builders had designed clogs properly as these ones have been.

When rigging do you need to put the stabilisers on?

Is it ok to add a washer to oarlock on the EDON to raise Handle height like you would on a regular scull?

Have you rowed the little river regatta 21 ft rowing shell? If so how does it compare to the ts515

No I have never rowed that boat but looking at the specification I would guess it is quite similar.
