    Me while watching him paint:
    "That looks OK."
    "No! STOP, DAMMIT!
    "Alright, it's looking decent."
    "What are you doing?!"
    "Okay, I see where this is going."
    "WILL YOU FUCKING STOP THAT?!!!"
    "So I guess this is where he--"
    "--FOR FUCKS SAKE!"

    He did what he does. HE likes it, someone else will too,and they'll buy it. That's how art works. Weird how many people felt compelled to criticize the guy. For me, some people love my artwork and some don't. Artists know that so we don't really sweat you haters. BTW, if he showed the piece in a cleaner area of his studio, the painting would have stood alone better than with the splatter background. Betting more folks would have appreciated it that way. I liked it.

    There were times during viewing this that I was thinking "Wow, this guy is the fucking tops" to "Why'd he do that? I don't think this guy knows what he's doing." To, "Wow, he just did THAT...Holy cow..." to, "now why would he do it that color? I think there's a lot of rage this man should seek help for." To, "Wow, so it turned out like that...Fan fucking tastic."

    And this is why is called "abstract painting" because the artist had no fucking idea what he was thinking about when doing the painting... I love this video!

    This is a demo picture that we make in the workshops so students can see different ways to bring op paint. During the workshops one of the things we explain is how to create depth within a painting that has perspective. The building up of layers will create depth. All the original layers can be seen somewhere in the picture.
    Try it!

    I actually learned several things from watching this. I really like the beginning of the painting and have seen many UA-cam examples of how to create that look. His was the best and I have used it. In the middle of the painting I thought, "what a complete mess and waste of paint". But after watching it to the end, I don't see how he could have achieved the final painting any other way. Regardless of how uncomfortable I felt about his process, the final painting was pretty cool. Maybe we should stop judging. One day, I want to be that free when I paint.

    Before you click that dislike button, hear me out, he is not making an art peice, he is showing you techniques to add to a painting you are working on.
    Standalone these techniques can make an interesting abstract peice, but combined with other techniques they can be used to create an intricate background peice, or become the focus and message of your work.
    say you make a portrait, and then splash paint across the throat, that's the message behind the work enough to make it art right there.

    this guy is a true artist...u can tell by the way he throws that paint down...the finalized painting shows the madness that was going on in his mind......this piece is brilliant. the colors are trippy, the painting itself has so many facets, so many layers...the artist clearly knows what he's doing. the painting itself looks crazy, yet has a peaceful serenity to it...i cant explain. but i loved this vid, learned a lot of throwing techniques as well. thanx for posting.

  • @TrevorDennis100

    It all suddenly made sense right at the end when he dragged out the radial spokes. This the layers still being so liquid, it produced an beautiful strata effect. It was like plywood sanded at an angle, but the laminated layers were all different colours. Or an artists version of Damascus Steel which is the multilayered, repeatedly folded back forging process used by Samurai sword makers, and becoming fashionable again with knife makers.
    Earlier in the process I was thinking I could do that with Photoshop with a lot less mess, and a whole lot less spent on materials, but even with the mixer brush, I really don't think I could have reached through so many differently coloured layers. So there was a method to his madness, but I'd have liked to see the finished canvas against a plain background.

    I think maybe he was just showing different ways to throw the paint, rather than trying to make a masterpiece. (I.E. He just kept throwing paint in different ways on top of the same canvas, rather than wasting five on demos.)

    @juhazz Well mostly when he does that it just gives the background some color instead of it just being white spaces so when he does the swirl at the end it ties in to the background even if you can barely see it, it's still there. That's how I see it anyways. Some may see it a different way.

    Not trying to be a jerk.
    but I really don't understand this painting style.
    the beginning looked so cool with the red and orange.
    then you just throw a ton of paint at it? my 2 year old son made a picture just like that the other day and he used crayons.
    Alo I just watch that hole video and still don't know the proper technique to throw paint. so this really isn't that great of a how to just saying.
    But hey if your making money off this great job!

    • @RekoneInkings
      @RekoneInkings 10 років тому +2

      completely agree! the first background was excellent for something beautiful and warm... the second pard of the video is just a ruiny child's play. Not abstract, it has no previous study or meaning.

    • @grantkohler7612
      @grantkohler7612 10 років тому +1

      I don't prefer this type of art painting usually. In general it is said that there are 2 forms of abstract art, that which is a deliberately distortive representative of something, and that which I call free form which is this stuff as well as Jackson Pollock's work. Free form abstract has no intention or presumption by the artist to mean or represent anything. Anything you see is because of how your brain is wired, it's a Rorschach Test gone mad. So if you don't see anything, it's mainly because your brain is not attempting to detect anything. Ever look up at the clouds while sunbathing as a kid, imagining what the shapes could be? It's probable that that your brain hasn't gotten any exercise like that in a while.
      I think the neuro-pschology has something to do with instinct and your ability for detecting food or foe hiding amongst the bushes and trees.

    WOW, its amazing to watch the process, how the painting is developing. The same time it's challenging my ideas, how the painting should look like, there were like thousands of possibilities, but of course I have no influence how the endproduct will look like, burt a lot of ideas. Very beautiful, the process, and the end painting!

    I couldn't bear to watch the last 2 minutes. It just got stranger and stranger looking - and I didn't feel like I was learning anything. When a video is called "How to...", I anticipate some instruction, even if it is just "throw more and more paint on the canvas as the mood strikes you". I had been hopeful because his drop cloths protecting the walls are really quite lovely. The process actually looks like fun but this particular painting...nope, couldn't watch anymore.
