Me while watching him paint: "That looks OK." "No! STOP, DAMMIT! "Alright, it's looking decent." "What are you doing?!" "Okay, I see where this is going." "WILL YOU FUCKING STOP THAT?!!!" "So I guess this is where he--" "--FOR FUCKS SAKE!"
He did what he does. HE likes it, someone else will too,and they'll buy it. That's how art works. Weird how many people felt compelled to criticize the guy. For me, some people love my artwork and some don't. Artists know that so we don't really sweat you haters. BTW, if he showed the piece in a cleaner area of his studio, the painting would have stood alone better than with the splatter background. Betting more folks would have appreciated it that way. I liked it.
There were times during viewing this that I was thinking "Wow, this guy is the fucking tops" to "Why'd he do that? I don't think this guy knows what he's doing." To, "Wow, he just did THAT...Holy cow..." to, "now why would he do it that color? I think there's a lot of rage this man should seek help for." To, "Wow, so it turned out like that...Fan fucking tastic."
So many times, I also have thought you beter had stopped but on the way of watching the video I started to trust your work.... Your after work is soo good! So much detai's, and you proof to many people its good to take risks as a artist! Thank you!
And this is why is called "abstract painting" because the artist had no fucking idea what he was thinking about when doing the painting... I love this video!
@juhazz This is a demo picture that we make in the workshops so students can see different ways to bring op paint. During the workshops one of the things we explain is how to create depth within a painting that has perspective. The building up of layers will create depth. All the original layers can be seen somewhere in the picture. Try it!
I actually learned several things from watching this. I really like the beginning of the painting and have seen many UA-cam examples of how to create that look. His was the best and I have used it. In the middle of the painting I thought, "what a complete mess and waste of paint". But after watching it to the end, I don't see how he could have achieved the final painting any other way. Regardless of how uncomfortable I felt about his process, the final painting was pretty cool. Maybe we should stop judging. One day, I want to be that free when I paint.
Before you click that dislike button, hear me out, he is not making an art peice, he is showing you techniques to add to a painting you are working on. Standalone these techniques can make an interesting abstract peice, but combined with other techniques they can be used to create an intricate background peice, or become the focus and message of your work. say you make a portrait, and then splash paint across the throat, that's the message behind the work enough to make it art right there.
congratulations, good work!! art is a process and this painting went through many stages and are still happening, it's a work in eternal change depending on the viewer, very inspiring!
I believe more in a kind of way of painting process. Each stage has its charm and occasionally there might be to enjoy. Paused a moment of creation Especially when you are the eccentric circles through picking and tilting the canvas late shift I find very nice found.
I can't help but love this! So wonderful. I'm sorry you have so many negative comments but this kind of abstract energy art is not for everyone. Personally I think it's perfect. Bravo! Also how many people said this made them feel uncomfortable... Awesome! I love when art does that;) Keep on keeping on man.
I think you all missed the point. He is making fun of abstract art. He carried it to an absolute ridiculous level and that is what made it so fantastic. This man is a genius.
this guy is a true artist...u can tell by the way he throws that paint down...the finalized painting shows the madness that was going on in his mind......this piece is brilliant. the colors are trippy, the painting itself has so many facets, so many layers...the artist clearly knows what he's doing. the painting itself looks crazy, yet has a peaceful serenity to it...i cant explain. but i loved this vid, learned a lot of throwing techniques as well. thanx for posting.
It all suddenly made sense right at the end when he dragged out the radial spokes. This the layers still being so liquid, it produced an beautiful strata effect. It was like plywood sanded at an angle, but the laminated layers were all different colours. Or an artists version of Damascus Steel which is the multilayered, repeatedly folded back forging process used by Samurai sword makers, and becoming fashionable again with knife makers. Earlier in the process I was thinking I could do that with Photoshop with a lot less mess, and a whole lot less spent on materials, but even with the mixer brush, I really don't think I could have reached through so many differently coloured layers. So there was a method to his madness, but I'd have liked to see the finished canvas against a plain background.
Awesome video - and to all the pathetic attacks here, this was a throwing paint *tutorial*. He wasn't attempting to make a "masterpiece", and it still turned out okay....
This is priceless. He is making fun of people who think they are abstract artists. He put on a good show. Real proof of how ridiculous abstract art really is. Time and effort well spent.
I think maybe he was just showing different ways to throw the paint, rather than trying to make a masterpiece. (I.E. He just kept throwing paint in different ways on top of the same canvas, rather than wasting five on demos.)
@juhazz Well mostly when he does that it just gives the background some color instead of it just being white spaces so when he does the swirl at the end it ties in to the background even if you can barely see it, it's still there. That's how I see it anyways. Some may see it a different way.
Not trying to be a jerk. but I really don't understand this painting style. the beginning looked so cool with the red and orange. then you just throw a ton of paint at it? my 2 year old son made a picture just like that the other day and he used crayons. Alo I just watch that hole video and still don't know the proper technique to throw paint. so this really isn't that great of a how to just saying. But hey if your making money off this great job!
completely agree! the first background was excellent for something beautiful and warm... the second pard of the video is just a ruiny child's play. Not abstract, it has no previous study or meaning.
I don't prefer this type of art painting usually. In general it is said that there are 2 forms of abstract art, that which is a deliberately distortive representative of something, and that which I call free form which is this stuff as well as Jackson Pollock's work. Free form abstract has no intention or presumption by the artist to mean or represent anything. Anything you see is because of how your brain is wired, it's a Rorschach Test gone mad. So if you don't see anything, it's mainly because your brain is not attempting to detect anything. Ever look up at the clouds while sunbathing as a kid, imagining what the shapes could be? It's probable that that your brain hasn't gotten any exercise like that in a while. I think the neuro-pschology has something to do with instinct and your ability for detecting food or foe hiding amongst the bushes and trees.
WOW, its amazing to watch the process, how the painting is developing. The same time it's challenging my ideas, how the painting should look like, there were like thousands of possibilities, but of course I have no influence how the endproduct will look like, burt a lot of ideas. Very beautiful, the process, and the end painting!
All righty... some really cool art, I watched the entire thing from start to finish and I really enjoyed the development of your work.... keep on throwing you got some great ideas there!
Wow! Thanks for showing the process. I have lots of questions... Artist acrylics or house paints? I'm wondering how it comes out after it dries? Do you need to anneal it? HaHa. And, the spray... just water? Or a medium? Thanks again. Very cool!
hey dude ! I think Pollock would have throw up if he´d lived enough to see you do this !! Anyway It´s so much fun to play with paint ! Keep doing it until you go sane again !
DAMN the title of the dvd is so right. It is. Yes. How to throw paint. The TRUTH. This is no painting. I'm so glad there somebody that actually named the dvd that way. It's hilarious
This kind of art dosnt make sense to you but it may make sense to him the art expresses how he feels and what hes thinking of idk about you but i love this type of art all your guys comments are really harsh to him i bet so just keep them to yourself :) keep painting sir do what you want
I couldn't bear to watch the last 2 minutes. It just got stranger and stranger looking - and I didn't feel like I was learning anything. When a video is called "How to...", I anticipate some instruction, even if it is just "throw more and more paint on the canvas as the mood strikes you". I had been hopeful because his drop cloths protecting the walls are really quite lovely. The process actually looks like fun but this particular painting...nope, couldn't watch anymore.
wasn't really sure where this painting was going. I like the way he blended the first few splats. the middle sequence was wasteful mud but the end result was cool.
Whats in the spray bottle? Water? I do this, but I can't get my paint as thin as yours. I also don't have an area where I can just throw paint and not worry about consequence lol.
He's not showing you how to paint backgrounds. He's showing you different techniques for throwing paint, hence, the title. Besides if you watch the video you'll see that the background adds to the dimension and complexity.
Me while watching him paint:
"That looks OK."
"No! STOP, DAMMIT!
"Alright, it's looking decent."
"What are you doing?!"
"Okay, I see where this is going."
"WILL YOU FUCKING STOP THAT?!!!"
"So I guess this is where he--"
"--FOR FUCKS SAKE!"
SAME
Tymprasta , same as an artist my inner perfectionist starting screaming the same things.
He did what he does. HE likes it, someone else will too,and they'll buy it. That's how art works. Weird how many people felt compelled to criticize the guy. For me, some people love my artwork and some don't. Artists know that so we don't really sweat you haters. I liked it.
Everybody ain't happy so you know the rest.
This painting made me inspired to continue to splash or splattered onto the canvas. Just amazing!! 😊
He is fearless and doesnt care about other people's opinions. He just does it freely. Never be clean in art. Be messy!!!
I love the noise it makes when the paint hits the canvas
Rachy C Then I recommend you to check out some "ASMR" videos.
And now we just let that sit to dry for 5 years!
+Ryan Flanagan If it's acrylic, 2-3 days.
+Ryan Flanagan looooooolllllllll)))))
jajajajaja!!!!!
Ryan Flanagan bah ha ha ha ha.
Yes.
LoL...
I love it!!! I love the layering, the texturizing, the patterns that evolved through many layers of paint. Brilliant!! 2 thumbs up!!
@juhazz
This is a demo picture that we make in the workshops so students can see different ways to bring op paint. During the workshops one of the things we explain is how to create depth within a painting that has perspective. The building up of layers will create depth. All the original layers can be seen somewhere in the picture.
Try it!
So what was the whole first layer of red and yellow for???
undertones i guess
Except he completely covered the "undertones"...
Because he doesnt have a clue what he is doing. That's why..
Lmao
@@HardRockMiner no
.. I can't bealive that
NO FEAR, is what I get from this. No fear of wasting paint, no fear of dirtiying something, no fear of screwing up......Keep up the good work.
I actually learned several things from watching this. I really like the beginning of the painting and have seen many UA-cam examples of how to create that look. His was the best and I have used it. Awesome! I love it. Such a treat to be able to see his creative process. Thanks!
WOW! That is phenomenal! I want to try it now! I wish my work area was as big as yours! Thank you for sharing this technique!
Before you click that dislike button, hear me out, he is not making an art peice, he is showing you techniques to add to a painting you are working on.

say you make a portrait, and then splash paint across the throat, that's the message behind the work enough to make it art right there.
That painting was amazing and your techniques are super great!
why did you first add red and yellow paint then brush it out? Then as shows add tons of different paints on top. The bottom layer is lost. ????
Modern art says you can, it doesn't say you should.
congratulations, good work!! art is a process and this painting went through many stages and are still happening, it's a work in eternal change depending on the viewer, very inspiring!
every once in a while I watch this video because its so soothing and calming and I get goosebumps! lol
What was the purpose of putting yellow on when not even a trace of it can be seen anymore?
Get your eyes checked! I can see a lot of yellow on the floor
I believe more in a kind of way of painting process. Each stage has its charm and occasionally there might be to enjoy. Paused a moment of creation Especially when you are the eccentric circles through picking and tilting the canvas late shift I find very nice found.
I believe that this painting is absolutely phenomenal
I can't help but love this! So wonderful. I'm sorry you have so many negative comments but this kind of abstract energy art is not for everyone. Personally I think it's perfect. Bravo!
Also how many people said this made them feel uncomfortable... Awesome! I love when art does that;)
Keep on keeping on man.
Helpful! I want to get back into art, and modern abstract is my favorite! Especially splatter.
I think you all missed the point. He is making fun of abstract art. He carried it to an absolute ridiculous level and that is what made it so fantastic. This man is a genius.
I see this type of artwork as the beginning of something beautiful into something very ugly then converting into something more unique and different
This looks awesome! Great job! I love the affect you made with the end of that paint brush. I like the marble look to it
this guy is a true artist...u can tell by the way he throws that paint down...the finalized painting shows the madness that was going on in his mind......this piece is brilliant. the colors are trippy, the painting itself has so many facets, so many layers...the artist clearly knows what he's doing. the painting itself looks crazy, yet has a peaceful serenity to it...i cant explain. but i loved this vid, learned a lot of throwing techniques as well. thanx for posting.
This was really helpful thank you! And it looks gorgeous, i absolutely love the effect that the cups hand, definitely going to try that! :D
You are great! I been painting for 40 years and can say. You are great!
This vid def has a relaxing ASMR vibe to it.... interesting technique...
It all suddenly made sense right at the end when he dragged out the radial spokes. This the layers still being so liquid, it produced an beautiful strata effect. What a fabulous studio!
awesome work.... u r so lucky living in the midst of lots of abundant colors!!!
Awesome , I had know idea where it was going but I was totally captivated.
@juhazz
Actually those final strokes he used made the bottom layer of the paint resurface.
i cant help but feel emotional about the void in the floor when the picture was removed.
Such a strong and powerful piece of work. I'd be more than happy to own it and display it proudly.
the whole video, I just hope he'd stop
gosh! so much courage to throw paint like this. i like this risk taking approach about abstract art
I love not only the way of painting, but the space itself is a painting :)
you change your mind alot when you paint its the creative process.
This is priceless. He is making fun of people who think they are abstract artists. He put on a good show. Real proof of how ridiculous abstract art really is. Time and effort well spent.

YUH
IMAGINATION modern art is brilliant
I LOVED your studio
Super, super.... many compliments!
I love it. Beautiful and appreciate you sharing your gift with us.
yeah it's a masterpiece no matter what way you look at it.
@juhazz Well mostly when he does that it just gives the background some color instead of it just being white spaces so when he does the swirl at the end it ties in to the background even if you can barely see it, it's still there. That's how I see it anyways. Some may see it a different way.
This artwork made my day...such an amazing work...lovely
Not trying to be a jerk.

"Art without meaning is just a tool for speculation for the upper classes" Picasso. But I see what you want to say. Randomness can be important.
Rekone Inkings LOL
Please show how these paintings look against a plain surface once completed. Nice tutorial👍
I liked the SUNSET in the beginning.
WOW, its amazing to watch the process, how the painting is developing. As with all abstract art either you like the piece or not. I like this piece and I LOVE throwing paint. Good on ya.
This is absolutely amazing
He does what he believes in. Period.
Mr Rowley, Great Work!
Awsome work don't listen to the haters !!! Abstract expressionism is always ahead of its time
It doesn't take an artist to make this okay. This is coming from a professional.
Wow! Thanks for showing the process. I have lots of questions... Artist acrylics or house paints? I'm wondering how it comes out after it dries? Do you need to anneal it? HaHa. And, the spray... just water? Or a medium? Thanks again. Very cool!
This is Excellent!!!!
I like it when he smoothed the yellow, red, and black. From there one it was a waste of paint, in my opinion.
hey dude ! I think Pollock would have throw up if he´d lived enough to see you do this !! Anyway It´s so much fun to play with paint ! Keep doing it until you go sane again !
I think the base is more interesting than the picture. The wall hanging too!
amazing. Trully in love with your art great painting
DAMN the title of the dvd is so right. It is. Yes. How to throw paint. The TRUTH. This is no painting. I'm so glad there somebody that actually named the dvd that way. It's hilarious
Really nice! What type of paint is it?
Fantastic video!
I didn't like how he added all the colours. I just liked how he put black red and yellow together.
This kind of art dosnt make sense to you but it may make sense to him the art expresses how he feels and what hes thinking of idk about you but i love this type of art all your guys comments are really harsh to him i bet so just keep them to yourself :) keep painting sir do what you want

Do you really need all that space?
Is wasting color really your life-calling?
jees if he likes to do it then let him don't be so mean if you people don't like modern/abstract art then why did u watch the vid :|
Excellent work done
This is the begining of ASMR
oh my fucking god, wow, the process is a masterpiece itself
love the covers in the background they look like a work of art cool ( :
wow...............amazing...............i'm impressed......
I love the tools you come up with to use, but you might benefit from a color theory class.
Your studio is awesome!
At so many points I would have stopped but Rowley pushes on....AMAZING~!
You make it look so easy
The background was so cool, but the finished painting, looks like something my 3 year old brother could have drawn.
I love it! How long does it take to dry though? :)
wasn't really sure where this painting was going. I like the way he blended the first few splats. the middle sequence was wasteful mud but the end result was cool.
I guess criativity is endless huh ? this was definatily therapeutic. awsome experience to watch
There's a lot of paint, but I wouldn't say it's bad it's a good piece of art
nice what brand of paint do you use is it cheep?
Whats in the spray bottle? Water? I do this, but I can't get my paint as thin as yours. I also don't have an area where I can just throw paint and not worry about consequence lol.
I am ashamed at how many of you have no appreciation for abstract art.
Great work! I like it!
Brilliant ! Thank you so much
He's not showing you how to paint backgrounds. He's showing you different techniques for throwing paint, hence, the title. Besides if you watch the video you'll see that the background adds to the dimension and complexity.
I liked the red to yellow gradient he had till he went and put all that black.
