This has to be one of my favorite Syntac videos in a while. Cool tame, immediate hilarious death, SOMEHOW getting blessed by the the ark gods to get it back.
I recently managed to find a max lvl Tek Giga after over a week of searching and killing all other spawns. Well worth the effort. And man that Giga is gorgeous! Just imagine what a Tek Evo Giga would look like

It can make sense for the Dreadnoughtus to be on other maps, once you came to Extinction, the other maps got infected with element veins, and Deadnoughtus spawn to consume them, boom easy way for them to be brought to all other maps

I'd bet you're right about the death message. Capturing a dino likely creates a soul ball with all its stats so a "new" creature can be created with that info when you "release" it. Since the giga technically still existed in the world, it was killed, but its info had already been saved to your dino ball. Kinda like a reverse situation for what happens when you hatch and attack babies too quickly.
Anyway, I hope you feel better soon! I also encourage you to rest, if you can. We'll be here when you start posting again. :)
You could always use the lab to make it a baby and imprint it so that it has a higher chance of survival. Also Giga name recommendation is Reforged.

Id argue that tek creatures 'stomachs' are more like Gas Tanks, and their engines are something akin to the original diesel engine design where its designed to use almost anything (oil/combustable wise) as fuel

9:15 only way to get most/all levels on a doggo is a maxed out Gigabird claim it’s baby.
fast recovery king. because i want more vids outta you.
a small tip: the Tesla Coil on "Bright" has 3 different Effects that hinder walking. it gives a 1.5s stun the second it hits, it prevents sprinting entirely and it reduces movement speed by 40% so it might be an idea to use it to tame creatures. you can also put a second one down and put it on volatile which increases a hit creatures vulnerability to damage by ~30% which also affects tranqs. so with those 2 you have a creature that is stunned for 1.5s, can´t run, is 40% slower and takes 30% more Torpor damage (and regular damage which doesn´t mean much for tranq darts) which might make it possible to tame creatures without needing a trap. i´d have to test how well it works with Gigas.
also Armadoggos seem to be patched. at the very least i can perfect tame them with Kibble

Like they avoid small traps but have you tried making a 10x10 trap that they fall into? Maybe its something in the pathing that triggers them avoiding it so if you go big enough they should see it as "open space".
Hey Syntac. Not sure if anyone has actually told you how to get the treasure maps for the doggo yet. But if not, the way to get them is letting your doggo consume the body. When you pull the map from your doggo it will be one it can dig for.
To be fair, you can still do the 4 gate trap, turn off snapping and space them out a little, like a square but with no corners, it'll work as long as you don't leave big gaps that it can walk out of. Also, if you can line it up, walk into the trap on your thyla and leap over the bear trap in the middle, giga will have to be aggro'd/close to you and it isn't 100% but I have had great success with it.
Funnily enough, that space outside of the dome where you thought about making the trap (where the tek giga had spawned) is oddly safe from meteors and enough so that you can tame a giga in that safe. I spent hours and days killing things in that spot to get giga's to spawn and encountered many meteor storms during that time and none landed in that area. Obviously don't go too far out but the general outer bit of dome is safe.

Tek giga was my first vanilla too, Paleo was my first modded.
my guess about the giga-superposition is that there was some desync between the server and your client. its probably the case that you put the giga away and while the server was still despawning the giga or was held up with something else, it was killed. then you got the giga in your inventory. server stuff can get messy, especially if a game (or mod) is more optimised for singleplayer

my group stopped playing extinction about 4 days before the big patch came in and fixed everything. I think one of us tamed a tek giga, and one got one from raptor claws. I'm usually the mad "tame a giga on foot" guy but I just wasn't feeling it and we couldn't track gigas without finding corrupteds.
I’m yet to see a one and even a normal one over level 60. Super jealous of those colours 😊

I also find myself putting the Armadoggo away or leaving it at base with the Tek Raptors to guard it. I love my Tek Raptors but even in the 230s their health is just… yeah. I don’t want them to die. I live way up high on a wooded ledge between red and blue obelisk in Sanctuary. Nothing goes that high except me. Not even the flyers.
I say that and watch the base be flooded with fliers when I log on tonight. 😂

What about two gates set up in parallel, with a bear trap in the middle? The dino should see a clear path through and go in, I would think, and then you have a few seconds to close the ends.

13:16 recently started Astraeos and there is a massive massive over spawn of giggas on one of the mountain tops well over 100+ gigas tek and normal ones never been easier to get them hard part is dragging the one you want away from the hoard of them

The best way I've found to tame a giga is to make a sqaure behemoth box
Have 1 side no gate at all
A few bear traps inside
It'll follow, trapped, and then run around to put a door in
And then get some smaller gates and make a half circle off of 1 of the sides and then pick up the gate(NOT FRAME) and shoot from there

Maybe it was the latency. Like the hits register client side, but the item pickups are server side. And the Giga died locally but the server still sent you the dino ball with the giga in it?

There’s a mod for more Giga and More Carchar spawns which I have downloaded but what I didn’t realise on extinction was that it replaces all the corrupted Gigas in the Forbidden zone with regular ones (and Rexes for some reason?) so I’ve just been farming them looking for high level tech Gigas - this is of coarse single player

With that mod he’s using (Dino depot) you can bring Dino’s back to life, that’s what he did lol
cryo/soulball copies and then destroys the creature, it died after the copy but before the soulball destroyed it.
Sinse tek creatures still eat meat, they have to have some sort of bio-generator to convert organics into energy. That terrifies me because that is skynet doomsday stuff.
IDK if this was part of the S+ mod or in ASE in general but when extinction came out you could put narcotics into an industrial grinder and craft some bio toxin

I managed to get two tek giga in 6 days of purely just clearing the spawns… 1st level a 24 2nd a 150 but. It female 😭 it’s a painful tame to get for sure. It’s become a little obsession clearing the area for them to spawn 😂

I use 6 gates and a flyer. My snow owl is just fast enough to guide a giga. It's definitely hard to guide dinos into a bear trap.

Recently I decided to step back into the ark world through syns videos and I started watching his scorched asa series. Man. Why end it so randomly. No boss fight. No more evo challenges. No view of the full train. No finished town. No poison wyvern. Idk just seems like a huge waste of good content because it really started to pick up at the end. He seemed to really enjoy it and also said he was goin to go back then never did. It just makes me not want to watch your series if you won’t end them on a good note

No idea why they gave the other tek creatures a glow up but not the giga. The trike made sense because it's a Genesis exclusive creature, but the giga being added to extinction without the mini tlc the other tek creatures got is super strange.

Living creatures are also kinda machines, the little guys in the cell have ovens where they burn stuff to produce energy for us(If you don't believe me there is a documentary on it called "Once Upon a Time... Life"). So if you develop a machine enough then it could also be able to to get energy from meat, like there are already ways of adding bacteria to produce gas that burns but the process is a bit slow.
Its all really about the sun(source),then binding(storing) and releasing energy turning it into different forms like movement. Its the process that is complicated not the concept, thats pretty simple.
Like if you eat the meat while sitting on the rex, burn it to spin a wheel that charges the battery of the rex. Its a fantasy world so who knows how fast you really can burn that meat and turn it it into movement energy that then is charging the rex(like you can eat 20 dino stakes in that move and still run at full speed so forget realism :D).
There is still a 45 degree snap on gates you can still do the octagon / Hexagon? 5 gates. It's what i use for Gachas because they will hop out of a 4 gate square. You could have used 6 behemoth gates and 2 doors to trap it or you can use 8 billboards but you will get bit. The only tek giga i have seen was level 15 i think. I killed it. There are 15+ gigas at any time in the valley of death area as well as wyverns, alpha wyvern and dozens of Rexs. They also pop really fast in the top left corner of the map. Also i have seen 3 or 4 tek Rex but all crazy low levels. I have max level Stegos with 59 health and 40 muto in health for taming evo gigas, just need to find one i want and get some milk. Carches spawn in the same area as that giga along the edge of the snow biome. Dreadnaughts are easily killed with a Deino.
I lucked out and got a max lvl male and female giga on the Center so that's been my breeding line. Still gonna go hunting for the the Tek Giga though

I got lucky and found a mating pair of tek gigas in the wild and tamed them together. That was fun. But they were only like 72.
