Nearly 2 months after spotting a huge crack on the I-40 bridge over the Mississippi River, crews have finally removed the cracked beam and begin phase two of repairs
We were VERY lucky that the bridge didn't collapse. The "cracked" member was considered fracture critical, but in this case, the bridge. How in the world could this crack have gone for so long before being noticed? What does that say about other bridges in the United States?
@@narmale The Inspection that was triggered by this bridge's issue on all T1 butt welds on US bridges has started showing up potential issues like in the Colorado US 50 bridge.
Actually be bedtter to be put in a Vacuum Seal display area and put it in the arkansas department of transportation building. To show WHY you do inspections and no so lazy as possible. A warning for all.

I want to see the removed, damaged section.
They keep saying it's a crack. BULL! That was a complete break, not a crack!
Agree! I have been thinking the same thing all along! That had obviously separated.
It started as a crack.
Scary! They need to put that cracked beam in a museum!!!

God bless those skillful Ironworkers.
Who is the newswoman in the green dress ?
Why do I get the sinking feeling it's not over?
It won't be over until, hopefully, the bridge is decommissioned after it's service life is over and replaced with a new one.
Construction crews did not spot any crack. It was bridge inspectors who did.
Sorry... I meant to say, "in this case the bridge held."
😂 I was wondering what the hell you were trying to say, you could have just used the edit feature though 🤔
